i have been using this clinic for the past 3 years. I have had nothing but good service from my vet (there are two vets there and I've only ever dealt with Dr. Andray) and I really like her. I have a cat and a dog who have both been treated there (both healthy) but I took in a sick, HILV positive stray and she was very helpful and practical about his care. When i had to put him down a year later she sent me a very nice sympathy card from herself and the staff. That was very thoughtful! I have had to deal with BAD vets before. I had a mixed experience at Highland Vet Clinic. The receptionist was on her phone and ignored me for over 5 minutes straight and didn't even notice I was standing there to be checked out, which was really frustrating. However, Alyssa was very friendly and knowledgeable and Dr. Andray went above and beyond in caring for my pet. Fine for shots and petting puppies. For ongoing care and needs of senior pets, go elsewhere. Here, you can count on being callously deferred to Highland Animal Hospital and then back to Highland Veterinary Clinic. Do the math on the delay of care for your pet and the increased costs of being passed between two similarly named places, and pick another Vet. Because if this one does decide to help your senior pet after you post a 1-Star review, that'll be an additional "$75 work-in fee." read more

Was traveling with my dogs in the the Cleveland-Akron area. We had an issue and called Highland. They were very accommodating and kind. They took great care of my dog and solved the issue. First of all, I am appalled by the one star reviews because I have been coming to Highland Vet following Dr. O'Connor from previous vet in Barberton. I travel fro Hartville to receive the best services. First of all, Covid and remodeling has left it a bit inconvenient, but sometimes there is a reason for long delays. I have had to put my animal down, and they took the time to care for my pet which probably caused a delay for another appointment. When I have to wait, I know that someone else's pet is getting the attention they need. They have treated at least 25 of my pets/rescues over the past 25 years. I have been to other vets in the past, but Highland Vet has treated all my pets with the best care, surgeries, and compassion at the end. Thank you all for your speedy prescriptions, knowledge, and the best care for my pets. They are so good with my Lucy who is going blind and has many issues. A first visit with my cocker spaniel, Charlie, proved that I had chosen the best veterinary office for my dog. Charlie was scared (as he always is with a Vet) but everyone here from the receptionist to the Vet Tech to Dr. O'Connor was patient, kind and loving to my dog. As a "dog-mom", I couldn't be more pleased with the care and concern he got today. This is a good place and their affiliation with Metro Vet Hospital just adds a perk to the mix. read more

I took my sick cat to this vet office a few months ago and left with a proper diagnosis, medication and good advice. The receptionist and vet tech were both friendly and seemed efficient. The doctor made her diagnosis very quickly without the need of any expensive tests. My cat was feeling better 24 hours after I administered her medicine and it was a happy ending. I would return to this office if my pets fall sick again. read more

Dr. O'Connor and her colleagues and staff are exceptionally professional and friendly. I am very good at detecting BS, and I only have gotten very good assistance and sincere care from them. I just sat in the parking lot for 45 minutes waiting for my 4 o'clock appointment. Staff coming and going from one car to the next no one even acknowledging that I've been sitting there since 4 o'clock. Staff comes out eventually and starts asking how my dog is doing without even apologizing for the delay in services. And when I tell her she's not doing well because she's been jumping through my car because she's so anxious she starts to talk over me so she can't hear what I'm saying. She left to get her boss. The doctor came out and was also as an unapologetic as possible blaming Covid. Accepting that whatever her staff told her was gospel. Then another doctor comes out that I've never met before after going there for 20 years and explains to me that she can't have me talk to her staff that way and I can take my dog somewhere else. Gladly I have not been happy with Highland veterinary clinic for years should've left them along time ago. Just did it for convenience as we live close by but I agree with other review that they do continually jack up tests and appointments so they just keep coming back. I have never either left that place without less than $100 bill. read more

I would stay away from this Vet Clinic. The front staff was nice and the facilities looked decent. The veterinarian however I could care less about. She will TRY and TRY to find something wrong with your animal or TRY and TRY to sell you Heartworm medicine that is way overpriced. Just seems a little shady to me. She'll order tests and do things when the animal is asymptomatic. I ended up with a huge bill for tests done when my dog was completely asymptomatic. I would stay away from this place. read more

Dr. O'Connor is one of the best vets I have ever taken my dog too. My dog had some health problems throughout his life and Dr. O'Connor was always very compassionate and provided information so I could make the best decisions for me and my dog. My dog, despite his health issues lived to be almost 14. I now have a new puppy and wouldn't consider taking him anywhere else. read more

I really like Dr. OConner. Some of the techs are really nice there. Their hours are so inconvenient though and I wish their prices were a little cheaper. Also not sure if she was a tech or just the receptionist but a lady name DAWN is absolutely rude. got very snippy and rude at me when I called a second time just asking questions about pricing. She didn't even answer my question at first when I asked how much a single dosage of medication was. Just got really mean and told me they had to see the cat first before they gave her medicine. Which I already knew. But that certainly wasn't the question I asked. If it wasn't for the other people and Dr. O'Conner I don't now if I would go back. I'm pretty sure people call about pricing first so not sure what her deal was. read more

This clinic only has the location going for itself. Nothing special here. The vet attempts to find any reason to conduct tests and examinations on your animal to jack up the bill. Don't ever feel like your leaving the appointment paying under $100. The vet, during her 'examination' simply looks at your animal, shrugs her shoulders, and runs off to let the receptionist bill you $45. The receptionist is pleasant until you question the bill. Then rude, snippy answers follow with closed-off impressions toward you until the credit card machine approves your payment. If you enjoy being conned out of money, and love watching the 'song and dance' routine to make you feel like they are doing you a favor, come here. If not, stay away. read more

We went here for about a year for my dog and cat with no real issues until an emergency came up where my dog was vomiting blood. I explained what was going on and they offered take me in the next day at 3:45. I said this might be life or death and requested a same day appoint but understood if they could not do it until tomorrow. If that was the case I would take the 3:45 appointment. She said she would check and call me back. When she called back she said she could not take me today but they could take me at friday at 9am. I asked what happened to the 3:45 appointment next day and she said that was booked. (within the 5min she called originally and then called back). I asked how someone could book it when I just said I would take that if they couldnt get me in today and she said its for an emergency. I explained my dog was having an emergency and they said vomiting blood was not significant emergency to give me the appointment they originally offered.. Long story short, dog was vomiting blood and they offered next day treatment. I asked to see if they could do same day and they came back and said not only could they not do same day, the best they could offer me was a week later.. Seems like this doctor plays favorites and chooses what animal gets to live or die. read more

I've been taking my dogs here for their entire lives (8 & 9 years) and have just begun taking my new cats here, as well. Dr O'Connor is all you could ever want from a vet. They are always honest and caring, they always listen to you, and always provide the best care possible. The entire staff is great and has always made me feel welcome and important to them. They are about as far away from 'shady' as it is possible to get. They have, in fact, always done their best to provide a low-cost alternative, when possible. Wow, really sorry to read the previous review. The only part I will agree with is that, "The front staff was nice..." They are more than nice. Having been involved with animals my entire life, I've seen more than my fair share of both elite and shabby veterinary practices. The previous author alleges that the veterinarian will, "...try and try to find something wrong with your animal or try and try to sell you heartworm medicine that is way overpriced." As if that's a bad thing! OK. Isn't a vet's job primarily TO 'try and try' to identify what is 'wrong' with an animal??? I would far rather a vet be thorough than dismissive!! My experience is that these vets will be as aggressive as the owner wishes them to be in seeking treatments and diagnoses... but that they are always thorough. They have no control over the price of heartworm medicine, either. And, I know from experience that they offer more than one brand, each with varying price ranges... one of which is quite economical.. And, like many offices, one can purchase tablets on an as needed basis, so as not to incur full cost of an entire box. Besides, it's not like heartworm medicine is optional if you really care about your dog and want to keep him alive as long as possible! I also am quite sure that any necessary tests can only be ordered with the owner's permission, and that they are an integral part of identifying what may or may not be wrong with an animal. They can't tell us what's wrong, so often it's the only way to pinpoint what is causing the problem. If the animal was truly asymptomatic, as the previous author states, then why on earth would the owner approve testing of any kind to begin with? Doesn't make sense... there's more to this story than what this person is letting on. In my experience, I expect my vet to consistently practice sound medical judgment (CHECK, they always do...), be compassionate not only towards my animals but also towards my self and my family (CHECK, they always are), be professional from the moment we walk in to the moment we leave (CHECK, they always are), be exceedingly thorough in identifying or diagnosing any issues with any of my pets(CHECK, they always are), communicate readily what direction a treatment should take (CHECK, THEY ALWAYS DO), be clean and free of odor and pet waste, and if pet makes waste, they all make haste to clean it up...CHECK. ALWAYS. Not to mention that they are also AAHA accredited (American Animal Hospital Association), which means that in order to be an accredited member of this organization they must adhere to the strictest of standards in the veterinary field. An office has NO choice but to be the best of the best when participating in AAHA accreditation!!!!!! BOTTOM LINE IS THAT I WILL AWAYS TAKE MY ANIMALS THERE AND RECOMMEND THEIR PRACTICE TO ANYONE WHO ASKS MY OPINION!!!! WONDERFUL PRACTICE, DOESN'T DESERVE THE PREVIOUS REVIEW AT ALL! read more

The services provided are overpriced, and seem unnecessary. Other than the receptionist, the staff seemed quite unfriendly. It seems that this clinic is more concerned with money and less with what's really best for the animal and owner. I was very unhappy with this clinic and will not be returning with my pets. read more
