There is also a small incline that works well for some light hills practice. There is plenty of parking, bathrooms, picnic seating under a pavilion, a basketball court, a water fountain, spots for fishing, and it sits inside a nice neighborhood. I enjoy coming here for simple runs both in the morning and afternoons. There's not lighting to make it worthwhile to visit at night.. Sometimes people will bring their dogs off leash and let them roam around, so be careful of that, but for the most part people are very respectful and courteous of each other on the loop. Like many small, local parks, parking can be an issue, but not here, there are 28 parking spaces. Between the parking lot and the HOA pool, which is for Lakeside residents only, you'll find a water retention area. Also, in the same area, you'll find a full basketball court. The good news is that the park, unlike the pool, is a public park. There is one very large covered picnic area complete with a fountain, grill and public bathrooms. Dotted along the paved trail you'll find other smaller single table covered picnic areas complete with grills. These picnic spots sit close to a sheltered pond where you can watch local wildlife such as egrets and Herons. At the far end of the park is a much larger body of water complete with a dock which also links up to an unpaved gravel trail. This was my first time here, so I wasn't sure where to go. The road that goes around & over the dam is closed until Aug 2024, so I just took the only other option. I ended up at the boat launch, and it's a great place for pics! Plenty of ducks & pretty scenery! It is surrounded on three sides with upscale residential homes and behind it is the Blackland Prairie elementary school. There is a sidewalk that runs the length of the road but there is no hike and bike trail linking this park to other parks. Throughout this park you'll find some picnic tables under some shade trees. One nice amenity in this park is a tennis court with lighting. However, this tennis court is strictly for HOA residents only. As a matter of fact, there are plenty of signs around letting everyone know that this is an HOA Park only. Plenty of pictures in this review to add more insight.

They have an air conditioned portable bathroom trailer that is decent. 6 stalls in the women's room and they were fairly clean. The summer heat had them smelling a little funky, but I'm not sure what can be done to fix that. The staff was friendly. The school bus ride back to the starting point after the float was nostalgic. For a moment, it took me back to feeling like we were on a school field trip. We definitely see ourselves coming back but at least bringing our own floats for our coolers to cut down on the expense. We had a large group with 2 coolers so it was $50 just to bring our coolers along.

It's always been around $20 per person, so that's what we expected. Today we showed up around 6 p.m. with three adults, a 1-year-old, and a 3-year-old. The employee told us they closed in an hour, which was completely fine. She had me fill out all the waivers before mentioning the price, $145 for one hour of swimming. I am not sure what she was even charging me for! That should've been the first thing out of her mouth. Charging that much for one hour is ridiculous, and the lack of communication made it even worse. We won't be spending our money at Rockin' R again.
