I needed my thirty year Johnson 4.5 HP outboard serviced, as i have done every year Spring. (My previous tech retired so I though I would try Bedford.) I called this AM and spoke to the receptionist and told her the age and the brand. She was polite and said she would have to check with Service. She returned to the phone and told me it would be no problem for them. I had to drive an hour to Bedford only to be told by their Service that they would not work on a Johnson that old. I asked if they could at least change the lower unit lube and they suggested I just do it myself. So on my return trip home, I called the receptionist and she remembered very well her affirmation to me that they would work on my outboard! She said she would make it right and put me on hold. She got the owner to talk to me and the owner said there is nothing they can do for me. I'm 72 years old and this is the first bad review I have posted to social media.

This place is beyond a joke. I dropped my boat off the first week of January 2023. It is now March 22nd 2023 and I still don't have my boat back. 2.5-3 mo the to fix 3 very basic things. My dealership in Wisconsin which I purchased the boat from told me to go get my boat and drop it off to them and they would have it ready in 3-4 days and that's with installing a new trolling motor I purchased from them. I will never bring my boat to Bedford ever again nor would I recommend anyone else to do so.

(Stage Two With Cam Upgrade) He sent me quote for the work we talked about. I am a person who wants to know how things are done, I research & research what I want to buy or want to have done. I started asking questions about the build and Jason was forthcoming. I found some issues I wanted answered, typically the tuner for the bike. Jason turned me over to Nick who responded. He said he had done this build with other Harleys and it worked well. I kept coming up with more questions and I believe for this build (Trike) they just got tired of me asking away. I wanted to know how the tuner chosen by them could actually tune the Trike if it didn't have any maps for a cam upgrade? Just pipes and air cleaner. Nick responded that he had done many tunes with it and it works? For this build the bike should be dyno tuned. GP did not have a dyno for a trike. Only place was Woodstock HD. After talking more, Jason wrote back stating he didn't think they could get me to where I wanted to be so advised I go some where who could. In all, I guess I am upset somewhat that if I had not researched my build I never would have learned the issues involved in the stage two upgrade I was trying to do. I would have had them do it possibly not getting the true performance out of the bike I had hoped for. I can't really say anything about the quality of the work they do, ratings were pretty good. He not only took the time to show us the boat of interest, but also took the time to let us browse and ask questions of their other in stock boats. We left without buying a boat and with no pressure. We purchased the next day! Jerry was great to work with and held the boat for us longer than we had originally agreed to. Awesome to work with and the boat was spotless when we finally picked it up. They are dealing with used boats and there are going to be potential issues that go unnoticed....can't always blame the dealer. No issues to date with our purchase. They even stated there are many car brands they do not dewl with as they are not reliable enough to put their name on. Our daughter was looking for a small, safe, reliable car for her first car. They gave her a good deal and treated her very fairly even including a 6 month warranty. We found the car online and sent a message to which they responded in a timely manner so we had some basic information to decide if we wanted to make the hour long drive to give it a closer look. When we arrived they allowed us to test drive it and did not pressure us in any way. They were very casual and easy to work with.

Left Racine at 730 am with a 45' boat we just purchased. It was an all day trip down the lakeshore…read moreand on the river. We spent 4 hrs waiting for the lock in Lockport then barely made it to 3 rivers for gas. We proceeded to the Dresden lock and intended to tie off on the cell to wait the nearly 3 hour wait to lock through however the lock master ordered us to leave because a barge was going to tie off in the same location. It was nearly 11 pm at this point and our engines were making noises. My husband said they were fine, just in need of a tune up. Knowing the channel in that area has shallow spots, and we still had not used the anchor (our very 1st day with the boat), we decided not to attempt to anchor due to safety and to shut our engines down. We searched for an area to safely tie up until the lock called us via radio to advise us to prepare to lock through. We found the empty pier at Harborside and tied off. We had a 6 person crew (2 were sleeping). We were quiet as a mouse, had no music playing, engines shut off, and were speaking at a whisper. We could hear people partying and shouting and laughing within the marina. After approximately 45 minutes we were approached by a man (later learned to be Brett who runs the Marina) and a woman who told us to leave. My husband politely told him that we had no place to go because the lock had barges there and we needed to be in the area to get through when called. Brett said he didn't see any barges (obviously because they were in the lock which is why we couldn't lock through), and my husband told him to call the lock and he could verify that they were full. Brett didn't want to do so and still wanted us to leave. My husband told him that under the Maritime laws and safe harbor rules, we had no choice but to remain docked for the safety of our boat and crew. My husband also told him that we didn't want to be there at all, but we didn't have a choice. Brett never offered assistance and was not pleasant at all. My husband told him that we aren't causing any harm and would be on our way as soon as the lock called us. My husband and I and other members of our crew are law enforcement and we are very responsible and respectful. My husband told Brett to call the police if he felt he had to, but we were causing zero harm and causing no damage or boat traffic obstruction. Brett reluctantly walked away. Approximately 30 minutes later the lock called us and told us to begin to work our way to the door and we untied and proceeded to push off the pier. While moving on we noticed 2 police officers walking down the dock, ( unfortunately we had already left as we would have talked to them) I just have to say that my husband and I have been in Michigan and Wisconsin over the years and suddenly had to seek a safe place to stop and make sure our engines were in good condition to continue traveling and we always had very welcoming and accommodating marina staff. Brett was the worst marina manager we've ever come across. We boat within a 45 minute car drive and had visited the restaurant at Harborside (spending a lot of money), with a large group of friends from our marina on previous occasions. Just heard a new restaurant is opening after the last one closed and we will definitely NOT be trying it out. Additionally, we have a great marina with many boaters who would have welcomed Brett without question if he was in the area and needed help (that's what boaters do). Now the boaters in our area are aware of what happened and also will not be patronizing the new restaurant at Harborside.
