Horrible return policies! Usually you can return a non electric part within 30 days for a full refund. They won't offer a refund! Very disappoint! Instead they give you a credit and usually they make sure you won't get to use that credit unless if you buy a part that is more expensive than other places. I won't ever recommend this place! This junkyard is probably my "choice of last resort" when I'm looking for used parts. What keeps this place down a rung or two from just about any other yard, is the way they spot the cars on the ground and they're almost always pinned tightly together door to door and bumper to bumper. Need some interior parts? Too bad, you can't get the door open to get the parts! Or how about suspension parts... no luck there either; the car is flat on the ground without tires. Not going to get many parts that way. Sure, I realize that the "self-serve" used parts business might not be their main line of work (like many junkyards, they sell engines, transmissions, front clips, etc), but for what I've been there looking for, its a deal breaker. And being closed on Sundays isn't very convenient either. When in Aurora, forget this place and go down the road to U-Pull-It. read more

I had a very poor first experience with this company. When I could not find the part I was looking for on their website on December 20, 2017, I called them and was connected to a saleswoman. She explained that for parts that they do not have listed online, they open the yard on Saturdays for customers to search for the part on junk vehicles. She told me I could come on on Saturday (DEC 23rd) between 8:30 AM and 12:30 PM to look for the part I needed. I thanked her and said I would be in. On Saturday the 23rd, I prepared the tools I would need, dressed in layers and work clothes for the cold weather, and drove 20 min. to their location. I found an empty parking lot and an 8.5 x 11 paper posted on the door saying they were closed for the holidays. All they had to do to avoid this was let me know they would be closed, or to update their website and Google Map listing so that when I searched to find directions, I would have been notified they were closed. Instead they needlessly wasted 1.5 hours of my time, and created an experience that detracts from their brand and reputation. In this digital 21st century, I don't see how businesses can survive by treating customers and prospects this way. All I know if that if I treated my customers this way, I would not stay in business very long. read more

I work in the business so constantly looking for auto parts sometimes common and sometimes not so common. We were working on a 09 Mercury Mariner hybrid that required some not so common parts and I called around searching hearing the "We don't carry that part." until I spoke with Frank here. He said he had the part and I could come in and get it. He had most the other common parts except one and he said he could have it next day at the shop from another yard. The next day I drove out about 40 minutes and he had the parts ready for me to inspect (no wait) except for the one part they were supposed to have shipped over from other yard (other yard's fault). He arranged delivery of that part the next day to our shop which was excellent customer service (vs returning there). All in all the parts were in excellent shape and the project was completed. We made it clear that we needed a white colored door. He said yes we got it. So we made the one hour drive paid tolls to get there. When we arrive he pulls up the screen and says its either green or white his notes on the screen does not show which color it is. We are not allowed to see it in the back room for insurance reasons. Ok no problem he could have taken a picture of it. He refused that and said he is not going to go out there if we are not buying it. Why would i buy something and hope its the correct color? We called there competitors Elgin Super Auto told them the storie and they gave us a 20% discount. read more

I really don't think I've ever met more imbeciles in the same place. I contacted these idiots regarding a part I needed, and they told me it was in stock. After driving 40 miles to get there, I met up with the door moron, who told me to talk with one of the counter fools. The counter fools were much too busy to wait on a "live" person, (don't you just love that?), being either on the phone, computer screen, or both. When I FINALLY got waited on, I was told there would be at least an hour and a half wait, being that the rest of the imbeciles were on lunch, and the part had to be "pulled". I told the counter fool that I did not live close by, and his suggestion was that I needed to pay the cashier, and come back for the part another day. What do you do when your husband is deployed, your stepson has borrowed your van for a year, promptly wrecks it and you live 2 days drive away in another state? Call Jim at City Auto Wreckers. He was very helpful and walked me through everything I needed to do, and within 48 hours my mangled van was picked up from my stepson's grandmother's driveway - much to the relief of her HOA. Considering the state of my poor Caravan, (it now resembling a pug dog after colliding head on with a guard rail) I was quite happy to receive a payment for the van as well. It was more than enough compensation for a vehicle with very few usable front end parts. In all seriousness I had called two other places before trying City Auto Wreckers and they were not interested in helping my strange situation. By the time I spoke to Jim I was getting worried I was going to have to fly up and take care of this in person. I was so relieved to have found Jim and very thankful to him for his help. read more

Jim gave us a quick & fair price on the old car we were junking, while another guy kindly went out into the pouring rain to remove the old plates for us. similar experience to Efraim R's wanted a door for a 2007 - was shown a 1" x 1" picture on their computer. Can I see the door in person - no you can't, we're the only ones allowed to go and pick the part. was against my better judgement to proceed but I paid the cash for the door. Got the door (found it was from a 2004) - color didn't match - sales guy response: 'we don't guarantee colors' no refunds - they only give vouchers. if you're in the same situation - WALK AWAY. they'd never pay for your junk car site unseen, but think its perfectly reasonable to demand that you do when they sell you parts. Went in on Halloween around 2:40 in the afternoon and was directed to one of the counter people "Mark" for assistance. I told him what I needed and the year, make, and model that I needed the tire/rim combo. He looked it up and said it would be around 90 minutes. I had my dog with so I took him for an extended long walk and returned an hour later. Sat for another 30 minutes and then I finally asked him if my tire/rim combo was ready and he looks at me like he didn't know what I was talking about. He looks up my order and goes to retrieve it and I assume it's the right tire, STUPID me. I just looked at it getting ready to install it and low and behold it's the wrong size. 40 miles away, so now I won't be able to get back there until next week. read more

great place for parts, saved my car! I had my car at a dealership and they quoted me 4700.0 to put a new engine in my 2000.00 car. didn't make sense. I called and spoke with Gene, he had a used motor for my car for 400.00. I saw the motor tested on youtube. He recommended a shop down the street so I brought my car there and paid 500 to get the used motor installed. Gene had the motor delivered to the shop, then they picked up my core too so all I had to do was pay City Auto 400 (plus the core and tax) then the shop 500. About 900.00 and I have my car back! read more

They went above and beyond and we're very fair with the price they gave me for my car. I would highly recommend them to anybody! i only upgrade the stars because of jim who work there. i use to come here all the time around 1998 then they change over the yard was only open on sat to the public this didn't work with my schedule if i needed to fix my car. i found myself in need of a part i couldn't find anywhere else and i call to them on 4/23/18 they said they could get the part i would have to pay for it first its a window regulator so no big deal to me i come in the next day and talk with jorge and he tells me if it don't come in by 3pm it will be there the next day and he will give me a call when it gets in still no problem. problem comes in when two days later i haven't gotten it and i show up part there i say i thought you was going to call me when it got here? he say i never told and I'm like why would i lie to you about you to your face. then i have wait like almost 1/2hr just to pay for the part. at this point I'm just happy to have the part because i have a window that can't roll up or down only to find out that the part was missing thing that was needed to finish the job which should have come with the window regulator,so now i have to go in on a sat WHICH I DONT HAVE THE TIME FOR!!!!!!!!!!!!!!! ONLY TO FIND THAT JORGE IS LESS THEN CORPORATIVE IN HELPING ME RESOVLE THIS, STILL LEAVE ME WITH THE SAME PROBLEM AS WHEN I WALKED IN WITH IT!!!!!!!!!!!!!! it was only jim who seem to overheared what was going on and stop me as i walking out the door and took the time to call another guy and correct the problem!!!!!!!!!! and if i do come back to here it will be because of that however if i get the same service as jorge gave again i will never be back i will just high prices just to not have to deal with bad customer service read more
