Very local place for breakfast. Came on a weekend day after a 5k and sat at the bar. Service was friendly and also very local. Young waitress got the order wrong for someone in my party but I can't blame them if they're young and not used to volume on a busy day like a race day. Regardless, food was good and hit the spot. Coffee in a mug and blueberry pancakes were good. Appreciated that they asked if I wanted the blueberries inside or outside the pancake. I was very impressed with the Lake House Cafe. It's located adjacent to Lake Mohawk and they have plenty of indoor seating. Their decor is very cozy and the staff is friendly, accommodating, and quick to serve. My Mocha Cappuccino was delightful and at the prime temperature. I also ordered a slice of Raspberry Crumb Cake and that was AMAZING. The topping had a generous amount of raspberry and the cake was soft and ideal. Do not hesitate to come into the Lake House Cafe. Food took longer than expected to arrive at our table and the coffee seemed watered down. I got a western omelette which was a bit on the saltier side. The atmosphere seemed like it was geared more towards older individuals and seemed a bit dated. However, the portions were big. Mixed reviews about this place-I was expecting a bit of a more upscale environment; the atmosphere fekt more of a roadside diner-the lake was nowhere in sight. this place smelled bad; and did not look clean. The coffee mugs looked dirty. This all made me nervous. Our server was very sweet and attentive. The food was tasty, three of us had the cheesy short rib hash; and my bf had the pear crepe. First & Last visit! Came in for cup of coffee, never asked if to stay or to-go. Took my to-go cup and sat down at table, then was immediately scolded for doing so. Apparently they use real cups for people staying...if only I had known??? My company joined me (made sure I got real cup this time), never once offered a menu or asked if we wanted to eat. It was only by pure luck that I stumbled across the Lake House Cafe. It looks like it should be in some sort of Hallmark movie as the staff was friendly and there were families and couples all enjoying themselves. I ordered the chicken avocado on a croissant and it was perfect. Just the right amount of breading on the chicken and the croissant was light, fluffy and a little crunchy. The only drawback was the bathrooms were located downstairs. When you are finished eating your meal, spend a little time wandering around the shops nearby. read more

I literally make hour drives to enjoy the scenery of the area and always make it a point to eat here. Menu options are great and they have specials that always grab me. I have been coming here for breakfast/brunch for the last 3 years and it has always been lovely! However in the last 6 months they seem to have changed many of their classic menu items. Hashbrowns are now large pieces of potato rather than shredded and the proportions have been downsized greatly. My go to was always a crepe but what used to cover my entire plate is now a minuscule portion at the same price. Has a new owner taken over? I miss the original ambiance of this place and really hope they can adjust their menus back to before. There's no reason why it should have changed so much :/ read more

I've been to this place several times because it's convenient and the food and coffee are decent. After yesterday, no mas. We are coming out of Covid and staffing for restaurants is rough. I get that. But service has always been an issue with this place, pandemic or not. Yesterday, they greeted us by saying we could sit down but no one would wait on us as they were too overwhelmed. And they were. The staff was hustling and totally in the weeds. While the restaurant was barely keeping it together (you could feel it) the owner was lounging outside, chatting it up with people on the sidewalk. You can't hire, fine. But don't let your staff drown and your patrons suffer while you socialize. Throw a hand in. It's terribly mismanaged. read more

Disgusting. If you do take a gamble and eat here, make sure you check your utensils and coffee cup for cleanliness. The two times I've eaten here I discovered the coffee cup had old residue in it and had to ask for a clean one. The two waitresses in attendance are preoccupied with their phones or the TV. I'll start with the positives: this place is so cute and has a really nice atmosphere, especially currently because of all of the holiday decorations. Really great location and the coffee was great, so I would definitely go back to have coffee and a pastry with a friend. The service: Oy. Our waitress forgot to bring the menus when she first approached, which is no big deal and wouldn't have even been mentioned if it weren't for how the rest of the meal went. She took our drink order and then proceeded to still not bring the menus...we sat there for about 5 minutes before I approached her and asked for them again. Ok, no problem still, everyone forgets things. But then I asked for sugar for our cappuccinos. She never brought it. We asked for extra ranch and she did bring that (Mom and I shared a mock high five), but then my mom asked for ketchup with her meal and again...she ended up having to go up to the counter and ask again. That's 1 out of 4. 25%...a failing grade. The food: ...was ok. The green bean fries were really good! The ranch tasted like it was out of a bottle, which I'm sure it was, but it would've been even better if they had the capability to offer homemade ranch. I ordered the flat veggie that sounded really good: "Basil pesto smeared with creamy ricotta layered with tomato & mozzarella and topped with arugula & drizzled with balsamic glaze." The menu said it came with pasta salad, but it actually showed up with regular salad. This also would have been fine, but the salad had Italian dressing (and not good Italian dressing either). Some might find this picky, but it was really not enjoyable to have a salad with Italian dressing on a dish that was balsamic-based. I would've at least liked to have had a choice, but since I didn't know I was getting regular salad, I didn't even have a chance to ask. I wanted to like this place a lot and I still gave them three stars because there is so much potential! read more

Great small local spot with yummy homemade-style brunch. We got a chicken pesto sandwich, short stack (chocolate chip) pancakes, and a Taylor ham egg and cheese on a Kaiser and it all came out perfectly.
