We had a great trip to Lake Jacomo! We got there at about 10:00 on a Sunday and it wasn't busy at all. We walked up to the counter, asked to use a tandem kayak, and quickly moved on. They need an ID and a credit card to rent you a kayak. We took our stuff back out to our car, but we didn't need to because they have lockers you can used by the boats. We got our kayak and spent about 2 hours on the lake. There were a few people fishing, some pontoons, and a few sailboats out. When we finished up, it was much busier, so if you're looking for less people go earlier. read more

The staff is very accommodating in meeting our needs and switching our bon motorized boat choices. We originally chose a 2 person kayak and single kayak when a canoe suited us better. It was a fair charge, and for 2 adults and a child, it was $25 dollars for a little over an hours. My daughter was also excited to get a very large cup of cookies and cream ice cream for $2 bucks. It's an all around friendly relaxing environment and a nice way to spend an afternoon with family. Btw, if going, non motorized boats are first come first serve.. no reservations accepted in advance! I want to thank every worker at the marina for a GREAT experience! I didn't get everyone's names, but Rosie and Macey were two of the fabulous folks who assisted me in a kayak rental. They gave me good information when I called ahead of time to inquire about prices and procedures, and then on the day of rental they were very helpful, courteous and efficient. Despite the restrictions due to COVID-19, the process was fairly easy and everything--from checking in to obtaining the kayak to bringing it back and checking out--went very smoothly. The folks in the office and those on the deck were all extremely kind and dedicated to ensuring I had a good experience. I had a FABULOUS day on the lake, thanks to all the marina staff! read more

For my 100th review I was waiting for something special and after spending 1/2 a day hanging out on a pontoon boat on Lake Jacomo - I knew I had to share this gem. It's been over 100 degrees here for weeks now and the idea of sitting outside for 4 hours sounded awful. Everyone else must have thought so too because we almost had the entire lake to ourselves. It's not very big and there is a speed restriction - so pontoons and sailboats mostly with a few fishermen. The lake itself was very clean and cool- I think it has some cold water springs that feed it, so it was super refreshing. We only used one gallon of gas in 4 hrs because we mostly found a nice spot on the side, dropped anchor and swam off the boat. When we got bored we got back on board and drove for 5 or so minutes and did it all over again. We packed a lunch and brought a cooler of beer - super fun was had by all. Between a nice soft breeze, the canopy of the boat, jumping in the cool water and having wet suits- it never felt hot. The pontoon is nothing special but would probably hold 9 or 10 adults, but 6 or 7 would feel pretty roomy. It's gas + $45 for an hour (not really worth it by the time you load up and get out on the lake), $150 for 4 hrs (10-2, and I think 2-6) or $225 for the entire day. 4 hours was plenty, I could have used one more, but we were late getting there. Kids are required to have life jackets and you can bring your own (they must be approved) or they will provide them for you (those orange ones that go around your neck) There is a bunch of storage under all the seats on the boat, including more life preservers. I kept my purse and some extra food under them which kept them dry and out of the way. If it's hot, I'd recommend the am time. Also bring lots of tubes/floats because you will want to spend most of your time in the water. There is a ladder on the back of the pontoon so it's super easy to get in and out. Despite the lake being small we never even made it to the north half. If you have a boat - there is a launch you can use which would be nice too. They also have a private marina where people keep boats and sailboats. There is also a sailboat cove, but we didn't venture over. You can only swim off boats. Swimming or fishing from the shoreline is not permitted. So it's pretty quiet and private. I can see doing this 1-2 x a year over the summer. My 4 and 6 yo loved it! read more

This is one of KC's hidden in plain site gems. Thousands of people drive by Lake Jacomo every day but not as many have actually been out on the lake. The Lake Jacomo Marina makes it easy to change that with friendly service, many different boat rental options, fuel services, and more. I've rented both fishing boats and pontoons from the marina and have always had a hassle free experience. They are located close by the main boat ramp so as you put your own boat into the water and you realize you forgot something, it's just a short walk over to the Marina store to see if they have it...and quite often they do. The only nitpick about the Marina is it's located at the bottom of a hill. If you're out of shape the walk back to your car will let you know about it pretty fast. But otherwise there are many ways to spend half a day in KC...renting a boat and checking out Lake Jacomo is not a bad way to go. Or if you have your own boat their fuel prices are high but not ridiculously so. 4 Strong Stars. read more

Great spot for folks of all ages. We've rented pontoons many times and enjoy fishing and swimming from the boat. The lake is typically not crowded and we were able to get a last min pontoon rental on 4th of July weekend with success. They also offer paddle boats, canoes, & fishing boats for reasonable prices. I wish dogs were allowed on the pontoons - only paddle boats and fishing boats. The marina sells drinks, snacks, fish bait and even noodles for swimming. Great Jackson county gem! read more

The staff here are the best! The manager really cares about making the marina a fun experience. The deck is always kept very clean and they make sure all boats are safe. Many times, I've seen them going out of their way to tow broken down boats, help pump gas, and keep customers safe in general. It's a really fun place to take children to feed the fish. You can buy fish food and throw it in right off the dock and hundreds of fish flip around. Pretty fun. read more
