Barret Cove is a decent campground. I like to come here in the off season (Spring-Fall) when it's not too hot. In the summer the lake is quite a walk away from the RV sites with hookups, and it gets too hot to not have hookups. There is a swimming pond, but it is usually packed with kids. It can also get pretty rowdy in the summer. They let you make camp fires in the off season, and this is a nice place to stay when the heat isn't a concern. The campsites are good size, and there is plenty of room to walk. There are plenty of full hookup sites. This campground is close to me, and I have stayed several times. One negative is the way they take reservations. They only reserve two weeks before, and there is no way to reserve online.

Water is back to normal! July 4th expected to be highest level in 5 years . Had a great time . The only thing is because lake is recovering from drought there is only 1 marina . And it's owner just got started this season and is having tough time stocking shelves with necessities. No propane tanks, tp charcoal etc and the time of this post

Great camping and boating. Gets very hot in the summer. Lake is big and lots of good fishing to be had.

Some of the best ski water you will ever find. Camp grounds are clean and well spaced.

My boyfriend and…read moreI arrived at around 3:30pm on a Saturday afternoon after father's day weekend with no reservations and there were about 5-7 available spots and more spots as the sun was setting. Many people who were not sleeping over left at around sun down. Upon arriving, the park ranger helped us find the campground and informed us of different campsites that were available. We paid $25 for our campsite (#14) and that included the site and one car. We paid an additional $8 for the second car. Our site included a picnic table and a grill (propane or charcoal only). What's really neat about this site is that their bathrooms are clean. They have a women, gender neutral, and men bathroom. The women and men's restroom came with a toilet, sink, and shower. The gender neutral restroom came with a toilet and sink. It was incredibly convenient and nice to use! The site itself doesn't have much to offer. If you're looking for scenic hikes, this is not the place to come to. Bagby sits right on Lake McClure and many families were in there with life jackets, speedboating, and doing all sorts of fun water activities! This is a great place for alone time with each other or just bonding activities! Also, the stars are beautiful at night from where we settled. We were able to locate the Big Dipper and my boyfriend was able to geek out with his constellation knowledge, haha! There is no service here at all, so if you need to contact anyone or do anything work related, I do not recommend. Service cuts in and out on the way to the campground as well-- so if you're traveling in a group/pack, be sure to be following each their closely!

The campground itself is both RV and tent camping. It's right on the lake so it's really pretty. Not too crowded, the atmosphere is pretty chill and peaceful...except when the birds start cawing at 4am. I actually call them "monkey" birds because they sound like chimps. It was really really annoying. I wanted to shoot them all down. Also, I think sounds carry here, because I could hear people snoring from 4 sites down. We got a campsite that's basically on gravel which is not too nice to sleep on if you don't have an airbed. I would have liked a more woodsy site. There's only one bathroom/shower which is layed out kind of strangely, plus the lock was broken, so basically anyone could just walk in & see you on the can. They also don't allow campfires so that was kind of a bummer. But they have picnic tables and a grill at most sites. Fees were reasonable. Overall, it was an ok campsite. Pretty, but would have liked a campfire and better bathrooms.

The water was great and there was a great breeze. We stopped at the marina store to get ice and then took a ride over to the other side of the lake to the Cafe. The food was great and decent priced. The staff was a bit over whelmed. The cashier at the back register seemed irritated with the kids looking at stuff near the counter and shut her register down. The crowd waiting for their food before us didnt get the right order, they had to remake their food and they told the girls prepping the food that the girl that took their order wasnt paying attention and wrote the order down wrong. Overall the food was good, the deck hands were friendly and we enjoyed the time on the lake.

It's absolutely worth the short detour. Located approximately 20 mins from Yosemite's entrance at Tioga Pass. These golden groves are located just before the entrance to the campground. While I'm not much of a camper myself, I did stroll through the site to get a feel for it just incase I ever change and become a camper. It's serene, quiet, and beautifully nestled alongside Lee Vining Creek. The area is shaded by trees and offers amenities like restrooms and picnic tables. If camping is your thing, I recommend checking out their website for more details. Even if you're not into camping, catching the Aspens in their autumn glory should be on your list if you're in the area between late October and early November.

We arrived on a Friday afternoon without a reservation, and began to mildly panic one we learned most of the sites had already been taken. Luckily we came across some super friendly Aspen Campground regulars, who invited us to share their double site which just happened to be situated in a prime spot right next to the beautifully bustling river - SCORE! The Big draw to Aspen is hands down the fishing. It just so happened that right before we arrived the local hatchery dropped a load of fresh trouts, ready to be hooked! This was my first time fishing, and I was able to catch (and Cook) my very first fish! If you like to fish and you like to camp, going to Aspen is a no brainer. The trees are also large and plentiful, so if you come, don't forget to pack your hammock!

In short, this is a "maybe" recommendation…read more To preface, I have visited Yosemite National Park many many times, with many many stays at campgrounds, the Yosemite Valley Lodge & The Ahwahnee. My family loves this park so much that my husband & I chose to get married there last year. I think overall this is an okay campground for the most part. It is well located within the valley loop. It is close to some popular hiking routes, is next to Merced river and just down the road from Curry Village. However, a few things to note that didn't make it a 5-Star stay. 1) Customer service - upon entry, we were greeted by two very friendly hosts. Our party had a physically disabled person with handicap plates on the car. One of the hosts let us know that the stall we parked a car in (temporarily) to unload was designated for law enforcement, but okayed us unloading for 10 minutes. We appreciated the info and consideration. Nearing the 10 minute marker another/separate host approached us really quite aggressively, yelling about us breaking the law and that we need to move immediately. We explained the discussion with the prior host we spoke to, but this one kept yelling at us about how our car looked empty (it wasn't) and wouldn't stop yelling at us until we moved. We totally get the technicality of the stall, but we did receive an okay from another host and this guy was just aggressive as hell with no regard to ADA considerations in a very temporary situation. No law enforcement used it the entire time we were there (several days), did 10 minutes kill them to let a disabled guest unload?? It just was not very host like and incredibly unprofessional. Approach would have meant everything. To add to the poor customer service, we were later accused of pushing the limits with our tents and having more than 6 people (we only had 4 people) despite other campsites directly next to us having at the least 8-10 people, who lit fires mid-day, who had on occasion left their fires completely unattended, and who smoked weed and screamed & talked loudly way after noise cutoffs.. yet no host was approaching them about any of that. 2) some campsites were way overgrown with weeds and fallen over tree trunks. 3) no soap in the bathrooms. As a lover of this park who has stayed more times than I can count, the stay this time at North Pines overall was just okay. The lack of customer service and disregard for disabled persons from some of the hosts was something I don't think myself nor my family will soon forget. I've/my family had never been made to feel like that before, especially at a place that wants conservation support and goes through so much to accommodate ADA.

We were in campsite 504 which is basically the best one. We really lucked out. Creek and river adjacent. Downside is that we had lots of visiting campers, a bit lacking privacy. Bear bins for food storage are plentiful in space and secure.
