I was a bit hesitant to go here based on the low reviews but then when I called today to confirm whether they carried a special liqueur in stock, they were so helpful on the phone. Then when I arrived at the store, he remembered me and brought me right over to show me the options I had inquired about on the phone. If I could give this business a ZERO. I absolutely would. I witnessed the owner yelling at a gentleman in his store in front of a spectacle of people. The owner clearly has an anger and respect problem. He was rude, condescending, loud, and disrespectful. The other gentleman, from what I understood, had installed security cameras for the business and the owner was refusing to pay! He was cursing, screaming, and making a scene. All while the other gentleman, was trying to defuse the situation and come to a solution. I will never support this business or this owner. It was absolutely disgraceful. It was like watching a toddler who was placed in the corner. To the other gentleman, he was a Korean adult, who was very soft spoken and polite. You have my business if i ever need cameras! I'm done with this liquor store. I tried to special order some locally distilled whisky. Even offered to order 6 bottles and pay up front to make it worth their while. They gave me the finger. So I drive to another liquor store where they happily took care of me. Even brought it in and carried it. This store acts like customers are a captive client base. And guess what. We are. I have never been treated so rude ! I had a simple question . The owner who took my call , wow beyond rude . I was extremely polite I could tell this person was having a bad day or something else was going on so I went above and beyond to try and hopefully change the trajectory of his day well that wasn't gonna happen he screamed at me and hung up the phone so I'll call right back because I wanted to make sure he didn't think I hung up on him. I rarely write bad reviews but thought that this needed to be said. My dad owns a small business installing security cameras for mostly other small businesses. As a first-gen to immigrant parents, I am extremely protective of my dad as he navigates owning a business and doing customer service in a language that is not is first. The owner of this store is at best rude and just downright a bad person. He never actually paid my dad a cent for the entire security system my dad installed (because he ended up finishing a day later than what was initially said) and when my dad went back a week later to discuss and resolve the issue, he ended up having a fit and swearing and cussing out my dad in front of people and yelling at him to leave the store. From our experience and all the other reviews the owner has an anger issue and ended up screwing my dad out of thousands of dollars. We ended up not going about pursuing this issue because my dad was too busy with his job and it was too much of a hassle. Don't support businesses who screw other small businesses to save a bit of money. This incident was a few years back but my dad is someone who won't speak up for himself or say a bad word about ANYONE so I decided to write this review after seeing that other people had bad experiences with the owner as well. Our friends and family avoid this store like the plague. There are plenty of other liquor stores around (Lake Grove Liquor is clean and the selection is great). This liquor store is not suitable for people looking for hard-to-find items. First, it is a "bar store", meaning they cater to bars and prioritize inventory over YOU. So if you're looking for stuff in high demand and short supply like the Yamazaki 12 or Hibiki 12/17 you are out of luck. Second - the owner hoards inventory. Check for yourself, this store is hoarding an unusually high 6 units of the hard-to-find Yamazaki 12. His inventory never changes, so that means his bar customers are not taking delivery. It is generally understandable why stores choose to be bar suppliers, but this inventory or at least a small portion should be released to the public if delivery is not taken. Third - they never answer the phone. It always goes straight to voicemail. This means you can't determine if any item is in stock or not and have to waste time driving to the store. In addition, he does not return calls if you leave a message, again forcing you to drive down and end up disappointed. So if you live close by and only want to buy Rot Gut, then this store may be for you, but otherwise I would go somewhere else, since the public is not who this establishment is oriented to serve. read more

For my 300th review, I thought it should be dedicated to something near, dear and special to me: BOOZE. Although the Lake Oswego liquor store is not exactly close to my downtown Portland address, I am in Lake Oswego quite frequently and whenever I am, I make it a point to drop by this friendly little store. For some reason, the Lake Oswego location always has my favorite item: the Absolut Mini Bar. This is a delightful assortment of 5 little purse sized flavored vodkas at $5.95. I don't know why none of the downtown and close in locations don't sell this little item but LO has never let me down on my quest for booze. Thanks for that. read more

The woman was extremely rude to my wife just now. My wife asked if the pens were clean and the woman went into a tirade about how if she had to clean the pens all day long she'd never get any work done! My wife decided to explain to her how easy it would be to have one set of pens that are clean and another receptacle for the dirty pans. The woman told my wife that she didn't care if she ever came back. So we are never going back to that store. It's actually kind of a dump anyway! And really small. The Tualatin liquor store is much better! It actually looks like they're open for business, instead of liquidating their inventory because the building is going to be demolished soon! read more

Called in to locate a vodka that is becoming scarce and oregonliquorsearch.com stated they have 8 bottles of what I wanted in stock. I called the store and they picked up but didn't say anything, just heard background noises. I said "hello" and got a quick "hello" back, asked if this was the liquor store and they hurriedly said "yes", stated I was after 6x 1.75 liter bottles of a certain vodka and got back "you must have the wrong info" and then they hung up. RUDE RUDE RUDE, don't buy from this store!!! What a jerk, I'm assuming its the same guy everyone else has complained about in the last two years on here. This place is my go to liquor store and I've been shopping here at least once a week since I moved to the city three years ago. Not only is the selection incredible, the staff here is awesome. Every staff member I've ever talked to here has always steered my in the right direction, whether I'm looking for something to celebrate with or something I'm looking to mix with. The owner is probably one of the nicest people I've encountered in the industry. He takes care of his customers and has always treated me with respect and kindness. It bewilders me how people could knock this place. My guess is people walk around with the wrong attitude and are offended when they get treated the way they treat others. If I could give no stars, I would! RUDE is the only thing I have to say! I was in the store wanted to spend $250 on single malt whiskey but I guess that is irrelevant since service should be equal to all! The shelves are crammed with bottles and boxes whereby you cannot put your fingers around items to pull the out....tried taking a box from the shelf and due to how tight they are placed I pull the box which is a sideways opening box but due to the crammed shelf impossible to see so the bottle falls out of the box and LUCKILY did not break! The wrench of a sales woman comes over and starts lecturing me on how to use common sense and title the mix one way and not the other .... frankly never been spoken to like this, let alone by a classless individual that should not be in customer service! This place is lucky to have a monopoly in LO otherwise the customer service would have closed this place down! I'd rather drive 2 miles further than give this place business! I was with a friend who isn't real familiar with types and brands of alcohol. She went in wanting to make a specific drink, knowing what she needed, for the most part, but did need some assistance. She asked the guy where she could find it and he responded as if she should only buy the more expensive brands. She then asked about a smaller bottle (pint). He could've just told her it's behind the counter, but instead acted like she didn't know what she was talking about. She then inquired to the gal behind the counter about a specific type of alcohol (wanting to be sure she got it right for the beverage she intended to make) and ended up being confused. Once that finally was solved she went up to check out, got the rude (owner?) guy and she asked another question and he was a complete A*ss to her. She came away upset and rightly so. As most of you already know Oregon is a "Controlled Liquor" state. Like a "Police" state only on Booze, Hootch, and Spirits. So what that means to Joe Consumer is that every liquor store you enter inside the "Liqour Police" state of Oregon is going to be essentially the same. Same shelving units with exactly the same price tags and "Sale" tags on the same booze from one store to the next. There are however subtle nuances at each store depending on what the "Law" allows and what the proprietor is able and willing to do differently to help them stand out from the rest of the sheep and build their clientele and sales. Such differences can vary from business hours, like closing at 7PM on a Saturday or actually even being open on a Sunday. Having tastings is a nice touch, hell even my Trader Joe's does wine tastings! (Shout out to Big Tony!) Another difference can be selling finer top shelf spirits versus just carrying the lame headache inducing bottom shelf hootch (I'm talking to you 'Old Crow'). Another way is to sell other items that might go well with your Courvoisier, like say Cigars! Like Pearl Specialty now has a walk in Humidor, well, Downtown LO Liquors not only prides themselves on selling the finer Spirits available but they also have a respectably large stand up Humidor that houses a nice swath of fine rolled Cigars to meet your aficionado tastes. I used to go to this liquor store until after two times I encountered the owner. The first time I caught him drinking behind the counter and thought this was very unprofessional. The second time I had to run in to quickly get something for a friend's birthday and I heard the owner in the middle of a huge argument with another customer. I have been a customer of this liquor store for a couple of years now and I hereby state that I will not be ever again. The owner of this store (I believe his name is Barry) is extremely rude to customers the majority of the time, as well as his employees some of the time.
