Karen and Don gave us a walking tour of the area and showed us all kinds of interesting flora and fauna. We had such a wonderful time relaxing, hiking, and enjoying the scenery. They had great tips on what to do in the area. Don gives fly fishing lessons and is a patient teacher. We had a fantastic breakfast and lots of interesting conversation. I think Karen and Don know something about everything. It was great. I was sorry that we had to be on our way. The good news is this is a 4 seasons area. I'm sure it's beautiful in the fall and is a short drive to Wisp Resort for winter skiing.

We stopped by one afternoon and Don took time to give us a full tour of the cottage as well as the bed and breakfast. He even gave my husband a fly fishing lesson. The lodging has 4 pretty spacious rooms with bath/shower in the room and is very quite and very clean. My BF and I stayed here this past weekend and loved our stay. My BF did not have 4 wheel drive nor snow tires and got stuck trying to go up their driveway- so we called them and within 5 minutes Buz the owner came down and got our stuff drove it back up so I would stay warm and inside and drove back down with tons of supplies to help get his car to a safer area on the driveway. The two days we stayed with them they made sure if we needed rides they were right there to help. We stayed in the Spruce room which was cute and spacious- bathroom a bit on the small side. Breakfast was great. My BF and i would stay here again.

But this is rural Maryland, so go with the right attitude and expectations and you will love it. The couple who runs Haley Farm are down-to-earth, sincere and friendly without ever being intrusive. It is very much like staying at your favorite Aunt's house; she busies herself cooking and cleaning and fixin' for you, but she's always happy to set down her apron or dusting cloth and have a nice, long chat. The many, many animals who live on Haley Farm are no slouches either; they start your stay with a hearty welcome and a willingness to let anyone hold them, pet them and feed them. They are quite adorable and no small part of the charm there. Haley Farm would not be so very Haley Farm without them. The breakfast is delicious and bonus, there's a frig upstairs for the guests in case you need both brownies *AND* cheetos *AND* a coke at 2 a.m. which we did. You can also keep your own stash of wine in there, or whatever else you need refrigerated. When I think about Haley Farm, I think of the classic Americana cross-stich, "Home, Sweet, Home." My two sisters and I (and our significant others) came to celebrate a milestone birthday and were beyond impressed with this place. The ambiance is fantastic! The courtyard is beautiful as well as the patio in the back. The decorating that Kitty has done throughout the inside of the house is really beautiful. And as David says, "We want to concentrate on two things: The bed, and the breakfast." And that is exactly what they have done here. Each evening, David will come to offer your breakfast choices for the following morning. And it's not just bacon and eggs people... these are GOURMET offerings all made fresh on site using fresh ingredients. We had a choice of a peach cobbler oatmeal that had peaches from the tree in the backyard even and it was delicious! There was also one addition that just made my stay even more superb... a little dog named "Jack" and he is the most precious (smiling) doggie that I have ever seen! So stinkin' CUTE! The archways, hard wood floors and time appropriate fixtures add to the feeing of being in another time and another place. This is located in the quiet, peaceful little town of Confluence. It's very close to amazing biking and hiking trails and kayaking, fishing, and rafting. The house we stayed in (their are several options) had 3 bedrooms with baths. The common rooms are spacious and gorgeously appointed. The decor is very tasteful Arts and Crafts period. The owner, Robin, is a potter, and you can see her pottery throughout and buy it too. The huge kitchen and dining room are available for your use. A full breakfast is provided. There are TVs in each room and the lounge area. It is IMMACULATE. All COVID precautions in place and we felt very safe. It is dog friendly which made a big difference to us. The charge is $20 per night. Our dog loved it Robin and Dan are lovely hosts and did everything to make us feel welcomed and comfortable. Super nice people. There's not a whole lot to do if you're not into nature here. Eating establishments limited although we did have a good meal at Rivers Edge restaurant. The hiking is excellent.
