The owners are very nice and keep their property very tidy. The beds are comfy and the kitchenette has everything you need. The building is still there but the hotel is no longer in operation. I heard Mammoth Mountain purchased it and turned it into employee housing (which, obviously, is much needed). So sad... I've stayed here numerous times in the last decade or so. It was one of those gems where the price was reasonable but the room is spacious and always clean. Sierra Lodge will always have special place in my heart! Glad I got to stay one last time over the July 4th weekend this year (at that time, I didn't know it was going to be my last time there).

That was really cool, we've never had such a nice upgrade before. The rooms come with all the standard amenities. In the summer, it's important to note there is no AC but the rooms have box fans in them you can put in the windows if it gets warm. The night time cools down pretty quickly so it's not terrible until the afternoon lol. But we spent most of our time outside of the room anyway. The pool is large and there are two hot tubs! Also a fitness room, which we didn't get around to using but it looked nice. Also, on the first floor, there's a store for any of the basics like sunscreen, snacks, T-shirts, and other gifts which is convenient. We had a great time staying here, and I think we would definitely stay here again next time we're in the area.

Only one window that opens with a screen in the bedroom. The living room door opens, but there is no screen so anything can fly in to your place. The place never really cools down. While I was waiting for our togo order, one of the women working had to pass behind me & since I don't have eyes behind my head, she had to dramatically & very disgustingly shout "EXCUSEEEE ME". It took a lot in me to not snap back at her. Also, she immediately dismissed my cousin's question on if they had a restroom & directed him "OUT THE DOOR 50 YARDS DOWN". She could have simply let us know that they only allow the white customers to use restroom inside, instead of telling us that they didn't have one. As we waited for our food, I watched a white customer head past a blue draw curtain that lead to the restroom. Lastly, my daughter watched the man in the kitchen drop a cooking ladle, pick it back up, & put it back into the pot on the stove. He threw a towel down to the floor from the counter, nudged it around with his foot to wipe the spill before he tossed it back onto the counter. He then used that same bare hand to grab my son's hotdog off the flattop to place it in the bun. We did not eat the hotdog but we also didn't waste our time confronting the matter when it happened. I'm so disappointed in this place. It's disgusting.

Each time, they've been super accommodating and helpful. It's a weird thing to say about a property management company, but it's actually enjoyable working with them. Even once when my wife left something in one of the units and we were there on a subsequent trip, they allowed us to return to our previous rental (unrented at the time) to recover the item if it were there...and it was; made my wife super happy. To the individual who gave them a bad review because of the pricing / fees: It's fine that you disagree with the fees, I don't think anybody likes them. To rate a company poor because you don't like their pricing is a bit amateur - just don't rent from them if it's too expensive. Don't complain about the price, not rent from them, then review them poorly -- that's bush league.

Overview: affordable for mammoth, cool people, and decent housing…read more ---- I decided to solo travel for snowboarding and booked a few days here, having no expectations and never having stayed at a hostel before in America. The process of picking up the keys was easy, there's a lobby area on a separate building and a bulletin board with an envelope and your name on it with instructions and your keys. The parking lot is pretty tight but doable and they have a motel in a separate building to the hostel. The hot tub is only for motel guests tho. The hostel has different room options with the cheapest one being a mixed dorm with 6 beds, I think I paid around $50 per night and it really depends on the time of the season for price fluctuations. They have more private rooms for more expensive which is a nice option if you are staying with someone you know, however the walls are quite thin here. In the private room, it was located next to the kitchen and you can practically hear everything through them, so not much privacy in that regard. I've met really cool people here and had a great time getting to know some of them. I even saw a person from my first trip on my second one as well! I also got to snowboard with some of the people in the dorm I shared which was awesome. You meet people of all walks of life here. The kitchen situation was straightforward, there are 2 fridges and you label your stuff with a sticky label and a sharpie with your name and checkout date. There are also communal dishes and utensils and a microwave, but so stove/oven so be prepared! I did see a mouse on the very first night I stayed there too but it was one of the cute small ones hahah. There's one bigger personal bathroom on the first floor and then the shared ones upstairs. The location is also prime for walking to the gondola and it's near some great restaurants. ---- Overall: my new go-to spot for staying in Mammoth, great for solo travelers or friends who want somewhere affordable to stay at, many pros to this place that outweigh its cons

The place is clean and well-kept, with a nice kitchen that guests can use, which is a big plus. Rooms are simple--some with bunk beds, others private. We booked our own room, which worked out well and was a good value for the price. Important note: don't leave food in your car. A bear had ripped into someone's vehicle for food while we were there, so always store it properly. Overall, a clean, budget-friendly stay with handy kitchen facilities--great for a short stop in Mammoth.
