Some people are just tired or overworked or mad at something else…read more This Guy (the owner) doesn't like people. Didn't look me in the eye when he talked to me. He gives the impression that you're bothering him. After I qualified myself worthy of a repair (bought the generator from him) he instructed me to pull around to the side of the buidling to the shop. If I had known he was going to meet me there and direct my backup I would have rolled the windows down so I could hear him. He was not in a good position to see him in the door mirror. I was judging for myself and stopped backing up when I heard the screaming. Now, between the snotty unwelcoming greeting ànd this screaming to stop my Van, I decided to give it back. He loved it. It wouldn't have taking much for this screaming match to turn physical. I don't know why he was so adamant about stopping me because when I got out I wasn't even close to anything. There was nothing to hit! I decided to ask who he was and he was the owner. (No wonder) any employee would have been fired. Anyway, things calmed down long enough for him to check the oil in the generator. It was too low. He said I need a new generator. He could be right however I will get a second opinion. There's got to be an easier way to do these things. Oh, I know, I'm not going back to Jackson Hardware. You're just not a happy person. You might not want it but I forgive you. Glenn

While they did not have what I was looking for, the owner gave me an alternate solution AND gave me a piece of scrap he had in place of what I needed free of charge. Parking is easy as there's a huge lot right behind the hardware store. I did not manage to get a picture of the front of the store but it is an ancient Victorian building and it's gorgeous and well-maintained. Highly recommended when you need something on the fly and don't want to make the long trip to a larger store. I am a huge fan of local business and using them for whatever needs applicable. I ended up getting six placemats, some cat toys and some stickers. However, I was charged for nine placemats and didn't notice until I was already on my way back home to Brooklyn, NY. I usually check my receipts, but that time I didn't and got overcharged by about ten bucks. It's not worth driving almost two hours to get a refund though. Live and learn.

I always try to support local businesses, but this place makes it really hard. I stopped in over the Fourth of July weekend while working on my in-laws' bungalow and was shocked by the prices. The same items were dramatically cheaper at the other Ace. I'd rather support local, but not at these prices.
