The good: customer service was awesome, I didn't get her name but I feel like she may have been the manager- she was super friendly and knowledgeable, answered all of our questions and recommended products based on my kid's age and interests which was so helpful. They also have a lot of toys already opened on display so your kids can actually play with them before buying and make sure they like it. I was also told you can ask to open anything to see it which is so cool. The return policy is good too, we were gifted items that we opened but soon realized they were too young for my kid, but we had no issues exchanging items. The downsides to me were the location. We went around 5:30pm, and there was some stuff happening in the shared parking lot and some ..smells wafting into our car lol which didn't bother me but that might bother some folks especially with little ones. The main reason I probably won't go back is the prices. I'm sure the products are quality products and maybe that's why they're a little pricier than normal, but for my family's budget it just wasn't a place we would return. Seems really cool for teachers and homeschoolers, they had things to buy in bulk, I forgot to ask if they accept charter funds here but maybe they do. read more

The workers here are so helpful! I have 2 daughters , one in pre-k, one in 2nd grade. I needed some things to supplement my daughter's dual immersion courses. She struggles with reading fluency and I wanted to make sure she wasn't falling behind. There was a lady working there that answered all my questions and she just so happened to be a 2nd grade teacher! I don't remember he name but she was so sweet and helpful. $99 later and here I am happy as a clam to have caught the sale for my daughters. I got magnetic letters for my pre-k kid at half price. I have lived in Upland for over 20 years. Passed by this place so many times. I went in here last week to pick up an online order that my daughter had placed for my granddaughter's first birthday. This place is very clean outside. I couldn't believe my eyes how clean the inside of this store is as well! When I went to ask about our order, Alexa was up front. She was very nice, courteous, helpful, and fast! They have so many items in this store to select from. I also thought it was cute that they have a play place near the front of the store. If anyone ever needs any gifts for babies to young children, this would be the place I would suggest for you! We definitely will be back to grab more items from here! read more

I used to shop here all the time was due to buying teaching materials for work as well as hopping across the street to 'Honey Baked,' in Upland and 'Dunkin Donuts' existed here all around The same block!!!! Customer service here has been very efficient and was found the proper items to bring to work (we get reimbursed for before,) but thankfully current job doesn't require me doing that now. I would still come shop here just to see how their storybooks pricing go if they would be higher than Amazon's. I like all Lakeshores in general because they make shopping for work much easier: there's a reward system as well. read more

As every good (retired) grandparent knows, retirement is not really for being retired. It can most certainly be the time for helping to raise the next generation. Mr. B and I are pretty lucky in that category. Our two children love and trust us enough to let us help mold their precious "offspring" (one has kids, one has dogs). So we do it often. Besides, the little human ones practically live down the street, so we get a lot of play dates (aka babysitting). Well, Cesar Milan, Dog Whisperer, was one influence, and I admit the quick "sssssssst", stern stance and eye contact, combined with the "finger point" do work on my dogs and kids, but that is another story. My stronger suit was in Early Childhood Education. I also worked with Developmentally Disabled Teens and Adults for many years. All that gave me a head start with effective grand-mothering, both in the developmental and the behavioral categories. But regardless, we all know that physical, cognitive, emotional, and social development can either help or hinder a child. So this is the "why" and "how" Lakeshore gets 5 stars in my eyes. Books, puzzles, games, music, ABC and number charts, crafts, educational tools in every shape and color and developmental stage, Lakeshore is better known as a supply depot for those we entrust with raising our precious kids....i.e. teachers. But there is no sign at the door that says "TEACHERS ONLY". All those learning tools can just as easily be used by all of us who touch their lives. My grandkids, still young enough they do not go to school, have minds like sponges and I want to make sure they are absorbing the right stuff. I also want to make it fun enough they don't realize they are learning. So when I saw all the intellectually challenging, confidence building "toys" and "games" at Lakeshore, things that could expand their horizons rather than shut them down into unimaginative little zombies, I got pretty excited. I would much rather spend my children's inheritance on this stuff. Teachers have a lot on their plates these days, and part of the job requires filling in the gaps where some parents refuse to take responsibility. For my little family, I will always be happy to support and reinforce, to take them off on magic carpet rides to things/places they would not otherwise be exposed, to challenge them, to set a good example for them, and to expect them to take responsibility if they make wrong choices, and most of all, to give them the confidence they need to discover self love and success. I usually park on the north side of the building and theres other parking at the back too. the south part inside of the store is filled with posters, sentence strips, wall organizers. the toys and activity kits are organized by the type of area/center: dramatic play, science, math, manipulatives, blocks. they also have toys for infants on the north side of the store, and various sets on sale in the middle of the aisle display. They have the cool tried and tested toys, parachutes, and other things other stores will NOT have. I mean, Lakeshore is THE teaching supply store. If you wanted smart toys for your kids, it wouldnt be bad to buy them here. (magnet tiles, moon sand) but be prepared to maybe shell out more than usual. pluses: cheap laminating, esp with teacher discount. some discounts are applied. they have all the usual music: ella jenkins, rafi, etc. minuses: - its so expensive! and even their occasional discount is minute, like 25% at most. you need to come in armed with your email coupons if ever, otherwise the staff will NOT ask you. - the layout can be confusing. - the merchandise is limited. they dont have everything in their catalogues. and as a teacher i know they could add more little things but thats a lakeshore flaw in general. id have to go to the Dollartree 0.3m south of lakeshore to get other things for my activities (like stickers and foam boards). The wall chart organizer I got at Staples instead - lakeshore's is priced at $30-$99. Yaiks. Basically if Lakeshore was cheaper I wouldnt care about the drive so much. So now I go maybe every 2 mos or whenever i have a major laminating job needed for the classroom. read more

We stopped by to see the items they had in the store after seeing a few items online. I was expecting a smaller store, but was pleasantly surprised at the selections they had in stock. The store is very clean! We brought our two little ones in to see what items they would be really interested in for Christmas. They have some great educational toys and games as well as teaching tools. They had little paperback reader books for 3.49 and 3.99 we let the kids choose one each and got the realistic doctors office set. We will be visiting the store more often! read more

Great place to take your kid to hang out for a bit. They have this cool software game thing that is projected onto a wall and the kids can play games by just pointing to things. I came in to look for items to use for on an upcoming road trip to teach my kid during the trip and the choices were endless. They have a multitude of items for toddlers (speech development helps, kitchen/food set to teach your child how to cut fruits and vegetables, cash register that teaches basic numerals, alphabets, etc., and more), which is definitely hard to find in other stores. Although some of the items are a bit pricey (a 30 piece musical instrument/percussion kit for $180?), look for the store coupons (e.g., buy one at regular price, 50% off the second item). You can also sign up with your email address to receive promotional weekly newsletters and get a $5 off coupon on your next visit. There are also a lot of good sales on small items.
