Always a treat to visit Lakeshore resort -Bar & Restaurant when we're at bucks lake. We love getting their tree smackers fruity punch like drink that goes well with any weather and the drink and great views from their patio or bar reminds you you're on vacation.. This weekend they had a slushy version which we enjoyed as much as the regular version. They were busy this weekend as they had a wedding going on at the same time And the restaurant and bar were hopping, but the service was outstanding and the food was great on our second trip for the Summer. One of my new favorites is become the salmon with the Saffron rice and veggies - and goes perfectly for a bit of a lighter meal on a warm summer day & my husband's favorite has became the ribeye. This is how to spend a night out during a camping trip - for sure! Yearly, a group of us camp at Bucks Lake and this is always a highlight. We had a large group - see pic - and they got us seated and served with an astounding amout of coordination and speed. Service staff was kind and fast- shout out to the young gentleman who was our waiter- sorry I forgot his name. He constantly asked if things were alright and filled our water cups ask with a genuine smile. Food was okay; fried pickles, chicken wings for appetizers were good. The Caesar salad was also darn good- had garbanzo beans in the salad and super crunchy and fresh. Disappointed in the fish and chips- small flat pieces of fish, five pieces but I'm use to the bigger cod pieces that you usually get at other restaurants. Our friends had the salmon dinner- looked pretty big in size and they said it was good. For staying at Buck's Lake cabins- your choices of eating out is a bit few. The lodge is cute, nice views sitting out on the porch overlooking the water- nice and relaxing. Give them a try! read more

I'd skip and go to bucks lake resort. Pizza dough was served raw. My fish and chips was bad the fish is paper thin and drinks were $20 each, for an old rundown place you think the prices would match. The burgers are always safe. We've been coming here a lot the last two years and we've had more bad luck here than good. read more

We went to the lake to swim last Friday. The lake was gorgeous and we really enjoyed it. When we finished up we changed our clothes and headed to the resort to get some food. When I was in there standing at the counter trying to figure out the internet, (because you have to pay for it) One of the workers came up to me and asked if I had another top to put on. I looked down at myself and back at her and replied "no?" Mind you im wearing a crop top and shorts. They went on to tell me I needed to put a top on because this is still a restaurant. The hostess even mentioned something about no shoes no shirt no service and there being kids around. I was so shocked! I didnt walk in without a top on. I was wearing a crop top and no privates were showing. It kind of rubbed me the wrong way and I noticed others in the restaurant with swim suits on. Why is that OK and my crop top isn't? Lovely spot for a evening meal in the summer - give the Lakeshore a try. The Quincy area is sadly in an economic death spiral and it has become a food desert where potential diners either head east to the Graeagle area or north to Almanor in order to enjoy a decent sit-down evening meal. We decided to head west to Bucks Lake and try the Lakeshore Resort. This is a family run business with simple fare and a gorgeous view of the lake. We had the salmon and fish & chips along with a couple of drinks. We received a generous portion of fish and chips and nice piece of salmon with fresh green beans and slightly overcooked rice. The service was friendly and efficient with the type of attention that one only encounters with a well run family business. We came here during 4th of July weekend. It was a little busy but not bad. We were seated right away. The view was amazing (we had outdoor seating). The staff was very friendly. I ordered the tri tip sandwich with cheese and it was delicious. Also the fries!!! Amazing! My son, his wife and I went to Lakeshore for Father's day. We enjoyed the pork chop on a bed of mashed potato's with fresh cut green beans. This review is directed at the owner of this restaurant and resort because he plays favorites at the restaurant. Anyone that he knows from reno can get a table right away and stay as long as they like but for everyone else, including the locals he won't let you make a reservation (and makes you wait for a table while his Reno friends get seated immediately while you wait in the lobby). He will even give you a time limit on how long you can stay. We have had it happen many times where the owner will come to our table and tell us we only have an hour, even if we are still ordering drinks, and he will keep coming to the table to give us a reminder that we have to leave. I have been coming to this restaurant for over 20 years but unfortunately my family and I no longer go because of how we are treated. read more

Visited Lakeshore for lunch after a 6 hour drive- So we were hungry! We had a Western burger, Sterrett burger, and a patty melt. We had a slight hiccup with our order and our server was so apologetic and the owner even came out to apologize over something very minor. I thought that was excellent service! The restaurant at Lakeshore Resort has something for almost everybody. There are a variety of appetizers (Jalapeno Poppers, Chicken Strips, Chicken Wings, Quesadillas). There are light meals like salads (Spinach, Caesar, Southwest). They have burgers (beef and chicken), Tri Tip Sandwiches, Fish and Chips, and pizzas combining a variety of good ingredients (Pesto, Artichoke Hearts, Feta, Spinach, Olives, etc.). While the menu is varied, most of the dishes are not complex and quality is consistently good. The outdoor dining on the deck is really nice. Sometimes you see deer and sometimes you see hikers from the Pacific Crest Trail wolfing down two Caesar Salads and a couple of IPAs. If you are not driving you should try a "Tree Smacker" - they taste good and are good for you, too (maybe). The bar has a good view, too. Oh yeah and Wifi, too!!! The people at Lakeshore are friendly. It is the place to eat at Bucks Lake! read more

For anyone who has had a bad experience at Lakeshore you need to give it another chance. As of this year(2021) the resort has new owners and they are amazing! Jason, Alix and their two girls are bringing back a warm friendly atmosphere along with excellent service in the restaurant, bar and store. They know how to treat customers and are always accessible to those who rent cabins or have seasonal camp spots. Jason and Alix also brought with them a whole group of friendly, efficient wait staff. Donna in the store always has a smile on her face and Amanda in the bar always has time to ask how things are going....even when its really busy. Though its a good idea to have a reservation, we came without one and Jason was able to fit us in and made us feel like he was so glad that we were there. Our service in the restaurant was excellent and Kinzie and Sophia were perfect hostesses. We had pizza, burgers and spinach salads....all quite good. Not sure what they put on the fries but they were to die for. YUM! There is no doubt that the views from the deck and bar make for a spectacular atmosphere from which to enjoy your meal or beverage, but the personable, family friendly hospitality is what will keep me coming back. Ken and Dixie Nelson, and their daughter Kimberly (who is married to Dewitt Henderson who runs the marina and lakeshore resort), own the timberline inn as well as the small haskins general store and Bed/breakfast. Dewitt has brought on the Steratt family of friends to now run the lakeshore resort . Get the picture? Look at the website for Lakeshore resort and click on about us tab. Dewitts picture comes up with the caption "The Man " . Obviously the Steratts can only run by the strong arm of Dewitt and his wife whos family has funded all of bucks lake eating establishments . Ken and Dixies money. The Bucks lake Lodge is another business ruined by the Guitirez and Gureque family, who have not only burned down the original lodge but have ruined the new lodge by cutting corners with shoddy construction and cheap materials causing a catastrophic failure of the roof due to snow and then have the audacity to start a go fund me page asking for money? Thats what proper insurance is for which they did not have. And oh we were out of town for a funeral? yeah right. . The entire bucks lake restaraunt scene and marina is in need of new fresh ownership, not corrupted by current owners. So yeah, your party of 4 will be not seated or served because the sterratt family only wants friends and family at the behest of Dewitt and Kimberly Henderson, and they are pressured by the kingpins of it all.. Ken and Dixie Nelson. There is your Bucks Lake experience folks, drink it all in, be informed why your being treated like crap, still terrible service and overpriced food and beverage. Best bet for a wonderfull experience at the lake... shop for all groceries in Quincy or Oroville or any other grocery store of your choice before heading up the hill, camp at one of the sites on the lake , mill creek, sundew, whitehorse, lowerbucks, etc... cook for yourselves and have fun like you went up there for. read more

Horrible start at such a beautiful place, the waitress was so grouchy when she greeting us waiting at the entrance. She asked if we had a reservation and we said no. She then walked back hastily shaking her head and telling the other worker something under her breath. She proceeded to grab the plates of steaks off the cook station counter top and walked back to us with an arm full of plates for other customers and said she had 6 tables ahead of us and we were gonna have to wait our turn. We said that was fine. She walked away and came back still with the plates.... poor people must've been wanting their food.... anyways she angrily said in her best Cathy Bates (Misery) voice look, I have 5 tables ahead of you and.... we walked out. We have a cabin at Bucks Lake and I have tried to support this business a number of times but I will never go there again! The management is straight up dismissive and rude! The food is mediocre. I was invisible at the bar and stood their 10 minutes and finally had to make a comment before the bartender would come over and serve me and my friends. 2 out of the last three times I went there they served me bad (too old) wine and when I brought it to their attention they tried to tell me it was fine:/ we were out on our neighbors boat who rent a slip from them every summer and when we returned and went in to use the restroom they were super rude and sent us down to the disgusting day used port a potty even though we had purchased stuff from their store on our way out???? I really think they only survive cause they are damn near the only gig in town! Can't wait for Bucks Lodge to get up and running post Covid! Until then we're eating in! read more

It's nice to have somewhere to eat up at Bucks Lake--my family has been going there for 60+ years. But the food is just so-so and the service leaves a bit to be desired. They mostly cater to the bar crowd. There is a small shop that sells sundries and rents boats. We had a less than positive experience when trying to rent a slip for our boat. The owner is very rude and so is her daughter!!! I asked the server (the owners daughter) to take my daughters fish away because it tasted freezer burnt and then I asked for a Cesar Salad. The waitress's response was you are paying for it and I have never heard that before. You would think she would say I am sorry I will get that out of your way or something polite...I was very kind to her throughout our meal even though I wanted to give her the same attitude she was giving us, but what is that teaching my kids. I let our server know that I do not mind paying for the food I just want to make sure my daughter has something to eat and I wanted to give her a heads up. She was very rude to us after that. It's pretty sad that my 12 year old daughter and her friend brought it to our attention that the servers mother (owner)was standing there watching us through the kitchen window throughout our meal. No customer service at all from the owner or her daughter. This place is not kid friendly but the view is amazing And the other employees are amazing as well. If you go to this restaurant make sure the owner or her daughter is not your waitress and do not order the fish!!!!This place is for sale so hopefully someone buys it because I will not go back. read more

Beautiful view. Great staff. Friendly people all around. Family run establishment that cares about all the employees and customers. Food is wonderful! Steaks are great and so are the salads and pizza! One thing about this family run establishment is that if you are rude to the waitstaff or the employees the owners will talk to you or deny you service since it is their right. We watched our waitress get belittled by a family for the entire meal. They were rude and demanding, they assumed everything was her fault. She did her best to just smile and help them out and still come over to us with a smile on her face. So remember even though it is known that the "customer is always right" it does not give you the right to be rude! Overall wonderful place. Will be going back. read more

We've been coming to to place for eight years. Always had fun, great drinks, even stayed in one of the little cabins once. Unfortunately, this year will be our last. We did not see the small "no dogs allowed" sign on the door and brought our 4 1/2 pound dog out to the patio with us. She was in her carrier. We were served and treated very nice. No one said a word. If they would have, we would have politely left. We understand policies. Instead, as we were leaving we were stopped by a very rude (possibly owner) person who barked at us that they don't allow pets! Then she stormed into the building and slammed the door. When we walked in I told another staffer that I was sorry, I didn't see a sign. Same rude woman yelled across the tables that it was posted at the entrance!! I was very embarrased. I will never go back. There are other fun places around Bucks Lake. I do not need to be treated that way. read more

Nothing ruins a restaurant meal like an immature, inexperienced wait staff. We were there on a busy summer weekend, but when you're waitress never comes by and you have to flag her down for simple things like silverware that you have to wait for while your food goes cold, and then she panics at a simple billing issue and runs off, and a manager comes over with a PO'd attitude shows up at your table, you know you're dealing with country bumpkins who make money only because they are one of only two restaurants on the lake. Food was completely average. I think most reviewers were at the bar too long waiting for a table and felt so happy by the time they sat down, they don't get it. This is also a definite a "locals welcome, others tolerated" bar. Cabin owners are bar regulars and fresh faces get the cold shoulder. read more

AVOID THIS PLACE! We thought a Sunday late lunch over-looking Bucks Lake would be nice. We called at noon to see what hours they were open and whether reservations were needed. We were told they were serving all afternoon and no reservations were required "just breeze on up." Upon arrival we were told "oh, you should have made reservations". We only have a table for 8 and since you are only 5 we can't seat you. Your only choice to try and squeeze into a tiny table which would be hard pressed to seat 4 adults, let alone 5 or to sit inside. We should have just left but we mistakenly sat inside where we were totally ignored. Upon ordering we waited 50 minutes in a boring, UN-inviting atmosphere (loud obnoxious person at next table, constant burnt pizza smell, stuffy and no view of the lake - the whole purpose for making the trip in the first place!!!). When food finally arrived it was mediocre at best - my special Buffalo Chicken Sandwich was VERY dry and hard - not appetizing. Service was LOUSY - not once did anyone check to see if our food was ok or to offer a refill for the empty drinks! The management of this place doesn't care to accommodate customers - has lousy service and C- to D grade food! AVOID THIS PLACE! read more

We've tried and tried to enjoy this establishment located on the shore of beautiful Bucks Lake. The view is awesome and the building is a great lake side lodge setting. It'd be wonderful to be able to enjoy an enjoyable lunch or dinner here since we spend at least half of the week or more at the lake and it'd be a treat to be able to frequently dine here. We've spent countless hours here over the years waiting for decent service that doesn't happen too often and is usually mediocre at its best, unless you only want drinks in the bar. The bartender Amanda is awesome, provides great service, is by far the friendliest employee here and she also knows how to make a great cocktail. Todd the other bartender is hit or miss on his friendliness and service. Mostly unfriendly. For some reason he doesn't fill a drink up to the standard amount which is irritating since you are paying for a full drink. Some of the dining wait staff can be down right rude including the owner. She has been much friendlier this summer. We've heard she has sold her part of the business so maybe that's it? Some of their "rules" for dining are absolutely ridiculous. There isn't enough space here to go there. We begrudgingly will meet up with friends who tolerate Lakeshore or will accompany visitors that want to try dining at Lakeshore as it looks like such a cool lake view lodge to enjoy a meal, but more often than not leave feeling like we were not welcome, but more like a nuisance. The great advantage for the current owners is that they don't have competition and can afford to offer less than desirable service it seems. We hope the rumors are true about new ownership. If true, we wish the new owners the absolute best. We feel this place could be awesome with friendly management and an overhaul of the menu, maybe some more appealing appetizer choices that aren't fried, and some quality meal options. The chicken caesar wrap is a great idea, it just needs more than 5 tiny pieces of chicken and less than a head of lettuce wrapped up in a tortilla. The pizza is good. The craft beer selection is good. They do offer top shelf liquor options as well for a fair price which is nice. We would enjoy being able to frequent this establishment and look forward to new management and hopefully a friendly, appetizing establishment to dine and drink. We've spent a good part of our precious vacation time at Bucks Lake for over 30 years, and most years we have stayed at Lakeshore. It's been through some tough times but is now back on its feet, thanks to the loving oversight of Kim and Dewitt, who took over the lease a few years ago. We thank them for their care and passion for this beautiful place. They have undertaken so many improvements, many of which one can't see, but have assured the ongoing viability of the lake and its surroundings. ( Prior managers had let the water quality and cabins deteriorate to an unsafe and uninviting state.) Thanks to Kim and Dewitt, Lakeshore has returned to its roots as a destination that is family focused and provides a true opportunity to get away from it all. No phones or TVs in the cabins, more than adequate housekeeping amenities if one wishes to cook - but the lodge restaurant/bar is inviting, and the fare is tasty if cooking is not how you want to spend your time! We adore this place, if you couldn't tell, and indeed really would prefer for folks not to know about it! We and friends have raised our children on the shores of Bucks Lake, and the third generation is waiting in the wings. Indeed, the summer of 2017 will mark that event. We can't wait! read more
