My wife had the Justin Cab to drink, with dinner, as I had beer. Excellent choices, as we both had the Pot Roast Special, I had the salad, Caesar, while my wife had the New England Clam Chowder. The meal was exceptional. There was very little fat on the Pot Roast and the Au Gratins, with string beans and zucchini. We had the blackberry pie a la mode and lemon sorbet, with coffee, fresh cup. Service was excellent, and we both walked out, happy and full. Price is excellent as the Chef, has 50+ years of experience with a culinary education . They do host a happy hour a couple doors down at Boomtown and depending on when you are staying, you may catch trivia night. Coffee and breakfast are pretty much right outside your door. Everywhere we went had #vegan options too. This location is incredible. You can fall asleep to the sound of the river or sit out on the patio to relax. Everything is just a few steps from your door. We walked right across the street to Jadaa's restaurant for lunch one of the days we were here. The town closes up fairly early do you don't need to worry about noise. You will get the best nights sleep here.

It was my wife's birthday, so they surprised us with some extra decorations and accomodations to make her feel very special! At one point our vehicle wouldn't start so they reached out to their local handman to come out and take a look. Luckily, the car started after about 20-minutes of trying so we didn't need his services. However, my wife did meet him and said he was very sweet along with everyone else we met in the small town of Downieville. Can't wait to visit again!

I knew exactly where I left it. When I called the lodge and advised of this they stated they'd look for it and check with cleaning crew and call me back. They did call me back and stated nobody had seen it. I knew exactly where I placed it before I checked out and they were insistent nobody had seen it. IMO, a small amount of decency and integrity speak volumes and will get my referrals as well as repeat business. I'd rather have an ok steak with exceptional customer service than a fabulous steak with poor customer service. Honesty is free and anybody can do it!

The moment we arrived, the hypnotic smell of pizzas drifting from inside completely broke our resolve. We gave in and ordered the Due and Proper. Oh. My. God. Am I ever glad to be proven wrong!
