It was really…read morean excellent little getaway with many pros and only a few cons This resort specializes in golf...golf...GOLF (haha) during the summer, but that doesn't mean it doesn't have much to offer in the winter. There is an AMAZING spa (excellent sauna, hot tub, indoor pool, great massages), basketball and tennis courts, arcade, axe throwing, mini bowling, and indoor golf simulators. And if you prefer to just not leave the room, very comfy beds with couch seating at almost 400 sq feet per the most basic room (next time we stay here we will probably stay on the tower side of the resort where the rooms are even a little nicer). What we also loved here was the food. Aerie restaurant might be our new favorite restaurant in Michigan (close toss up with The Chophouse in Grand Rapids). See a separate review of mine for more particulars. There is also amazing room service, Niiji restaurant downstairs next to the lobby (great breakfast menu), and Jacks where you can get a good pizza or cheesy bread with awesome drinks. As for the cons, there are two: 1. A little pricey, and will only increase as we get more "in season." For the extra cost of an airplane ride, we could get a suite in downtown Vegas at the Golden Nugget, Plaza, or a luxury mini suite on Michigan Avenue in Chicago for the same price per night here of a standard room. That doesn't necessarily mean the price is not worth it here. Just be prepared is all. 2. Kids. Ugh. During the week there were not many people staying here, but as the weekend crept up more families arrived. Of course all it takes is one mommy and daddy to get drunk at Jacks downstairs while letting 3 ten year old buffoons run up and down the hall six floors up knocking on doors and running away to peeve folks like my wife and I to really put a damper on things (I don't mind admitting I don't like kids-lol. I have my own children and grandchildren-that's enough for me). The point is... do not confuse this with an adults only sanctuary. That is not what this place is. Just be prepared. Overall the score here is more like a 4.5 vs a true 5, but I'm rounding up as my wife and I were able to create some precious memories. That is bigger and better than any high price or annoying kids. Job very well done by the GTR&S. Looking forward to coming back here next year perhaps for a golf outing. :)

Some of the amenities include pools, workout rooms, wedding planning, a little shopping area in the mall where you can buy candy or clothes, some hiring shops as well. They also have a free shuttle over to the casino, you can also rent ATVs or electric bikes, or other outdoor activity vehicles. The room was nice and open with a couch with a pullout sofa and a large bed a refrigerator, a coffee maker. Everything you could need a really nice desk. The furniture, including the bed was very comfortable. The hotel was very clean halls had lots of space so people could pass at the same time without running into each other, lots of seating areas, both on the floors of the hotel, and in the lobby area. In addition, there are a number of conference room, rooms or ballrooms for you to utilize if you wanted to have an event here. They also have an ax, throwing area, escape room, and a bowling area. This is a place you can really have a great experience. It is about 15 to 20 minutes out of Traverse City so you don't have all the traffic and congestion and you can do a lot right here at the hotel or by utilizing their shuttle. A really great property with great people at a very reasonable price for as nice as it is. Just blocks off the beach.

Nice common area with a fireplace and comfy couches. The views were amazing. Cons: The front desk staff seems unhappy and passes that along to you. As other reviewers have mentioned, they aren't flexible when it comes to changing your stay or checking in/out earlier than the stated times, so make sure your plans are very solid before booking, even in the dead of winter. Parking is very limited. We were expecting guests to drop by for a quick visit (two hours tops) and asked where they could park. We were directed across US-31 (a busy four-lane thoroughfare) to an overflow lot. We asked if there was anything closer, as one person is in a wheelchair, but they didn't budge. (The parking lot in front of the hotel was empty except for our car at that point.) I'm giving this four stars because it is an impressive property and the winter prices are quite low, but keep in mind that the customer experience wasn't great.

The beach is literally right outside the door and they have decent furniture outside to use. There is a super nice playground in walking distance for the kids. The room layout was fine and spacious, and the kitchen appliances seemed newer. The pool was also a bonus, although seemed over chlorinated and had lots of sand in the bottom. Towels seemed newer and clean. Bed was comfy. 2 balconies with nice views. The Cons: The entire place is DIRTY, old and unkept. Our room alone had stained and moldy curtains, the carpet was absolutely disgusting, splatters on walls and windows and a VERY nasty shower, which we did not use. Spiders and webs in the lamps. Cups in the cabinets had mouth marks all along the rims. The secondary bedroom door cannot be shut due to the bed being in the way. The walls outside of our door were stacked with what looked like new unboxed furniture as well as greasy old appliances. We were gifted this room due to original booking person not being able to make it last minute. I would not have been happy if I paid $400 for this place for one night, only for it to look the way it did. Especially with check in time being 5 and checkout being 11. (30 hours) I'll let photos justify my review.

Our room was clean and we loved the beautiful views of the water. Prefect spot for a little get away. We read outside on the beach chairs, you could tell they cleaned outside the daily. We didn't get in the inside or outside pool and hot tubes but they looked great. They serve breakfast in the morning but unfortunately I was too tired to get up to check it out but they always had water and coffee available and cookies.

We had a balcony overlooking the bay. Was picture perfect. The restaurant inside the hotel, had some amazing staff. Our waiter, Chris, was professional, efficient and so pleasant. Chef Jeremy should get a raise. The food was undeniably a five star quality. The first night we ate escargot, lobster bisque, and French onion soup. Our second night we had the Aji tuna dinner, fried artichokes and prime rib sliders with a homemade horseradish sauce/aujou . My sister lived in California for over 30 years. She said it was the best Aji tuna she ever had. That speaks volumes. We will be back next year!

But what it is, is... loons on the lake, fishing, kayaks and paddle boards, bonfires at night, a quaint cottage (with air conditioning!), a game of bags on the lawn, tons of nearby biking trails, lots of swimming and sun, surprisingly good restaurants around, plenty of spaces to just sit and read or relax and talk with friends and family. This was our first time here, and we will be back next year. The staff was attentive, everything was tidy and clean. We had an absolutely great time up here!

Recreational activities right on the grounds, swimming, fire pits, grilling, water craft, life jackets, & shuffle board 5.) Recreational activities inside the lodge, TV, books, games, pool table, fuze ball & air hockey 6.) Kitchen, laundry & baths semi stocked for ease of living 7.) Large enough for big groups Just like the best campground ever ...but stepped up a notch because there is a pine paneled big woods rustic cozy cabin to stay in! If an authentic northern Michigan cabin experience is what you have in mind, look no further. We stayed in the big lodge but there are several size cabins available. Randy & Doreen are super nice, and very good at communicating before and after your stay.

For the slopes, they had so many lines for all different level of skiing. They had multiple sides to the mountain and even had a bar at the top that offered alcohol, snacks, non-alcoholic drinks and even chili and hot dogs. I am at a beginner level and the green lines were still a tad more difficult, but everyone going down looks out for everyone. I was very impressed with the ski patrol as a fell quite a few times and they were there to check on me. The area itself was very clean and again, everything is easily walkable. I noticed an outdoor playground for the kiddos when it's warmer out to play on. The food options here are good. Almost everywhere was a bit crowded, but we were able to wait for our food and then take it back to the Airbnb. I was very impressed with this place on every level. I will be coming back and staying longer next time.

Located about 10 mins from downtown on Munson. The pool and jacuzzi was spacious, and just the right temperature. There was an impressive arcade area for the kids, and a mini gym. We were here in the off season, so it was chill, but I definitely see this place being fun for the entire family in the peak season. We had an amazing balcony room. Everything was clean & the staff was friendly. We will definitely stay again!
