Stayed two days at the ParkShore Resort. My sister and I had a fantastic stay. The resort staff were five star. Very helpful and accommodating. Room very clean. We had a balcony overlooking the bay. Was picture perfect. The restaurant inside the hotel, had some amazing staff. Our waiter, Chris, was professional, efficient and so pleasant. Chef Jeremy should get a raise. The food was undeniably a five star quality. The first night we ate escargot, lobster bisque, and French onion soup. Our second night we had the Aji tuna dinner, fried artichokes and prime rib sliders with a homemade horseradish sauce/aujou . My sister lived in California for over 30 years. She said it was the best Aji tuna she ever had. That speaks volumes. We will be back next year! read more

I stayed here the week of April 8th 2024 for a few days. Before check in was saw noted that they were updating and renovations. Upon arrival walking it had a stale smell, but quite friendly staff. Since we drove in, we decided to eat here and the food was terrible. I had the mac n cheese with pulled pork, the pork tasted like cat food from a can with poor tasting bbq sauce. Had an app of garlic bread that came with a side of marinara in a heated plastic cup that was melted from being in the microwave. So while the stay, I tend to check beds of bugs, stains etc... no bugs but stains on the mattresses and the comforter. Pillows were very small but soft. Furniture quite old ( i kept in mind of the updating) and stained. The sliding door wouldn't lock and our door when entering and exiting wouldn't latch closed unless pulled or pushed to. The pool was ok, water was salty and had sand throughout the bottom of the pool floor. Overall getting a one star rating for the friendly staff, waitress, and the beach views. Hope to see this place upgrades improvements!! read more

We love staying here and the convenience of having the bar downstairs is a plus! The views are incredible! But while the remodel was much needed and looks nice...a few things to note...the bathroom fans don't work well at all, the wallpaper was already peeling from all the steam. The deck was covered in bugs, so much so, we didn't dare open the slider. (This was cleaned the next day by service) the mattress, sheets, and comforter all had stains on them which just made me feel gross so we slept with our own blankets and pillows. The door didn't shut, we had to make sure it actually latched every time we left. Stinks they don't do complimentary breakfast..and the breakfast buffet that they offer doesn't start until 8am. Some of us early risers like to eat right away and with the price you pay, you kinda expect at least a bagel or muffin or something... read more

We just spent 5 relaxing days at the Parkshore Resort. We had the beachfront kitchenette suite, which we were unaware of. There was a gorgeous view from the foot of the bed, as well as a view from the living room. The bedroom has a king bed, tv in there plus living room. The full size fridge and stove were very handy for a 5 night stay. Although the wallpaper has some edges starting to curl, the mattress was a little firm for my preference, and the remote can be tricky at times, it was a comfortable and enjoyable stay. Needs a little TLC. I know they're working on things, having added new alarm clocks & coffee makers recently. We loved the pool and hot tub, really good water temps. The beach is beautiful, the ducks are friendly, and watch out for the big hole on the beach that a kid dug...he's probably giggling at a window when people fall in it at dark when walking the beach. My husband and I stayed at ParkShore Resort for our 25th wedding anniversary and we loved it. We had a room with a beach view and a balcony and it was nice to go down to the beach or enjoy the beach from our room. There was a mini-refrigerator and a microwave in our room and the bed was comfortable. Breakfast was not included and I felt that it should have been for the price we paid, so we did not eat breakfast at the hotel. We had planned to eat at the on-site restaurant for a late lunch on our anniversary, but it was not open at that time so we did not have a chance to try the food there. The menu had good food and we felt the prices were decent so I wish we had been able to try it. I have mixed feelings about the service. Most of the staff seemed okay, but there were 3 times when nobody was at the front desk. Even on the day we checked out there was nobody at the front desk. They had a basket there that said for express checkout leave your keys, so I just left our keys in the basket. The lack of front desk staffing was our biggest negative, and I was not overly bothered by it so I would definitely stay there again and recommend this hotel to others. read more

My wife and I were making our trip to Traverse city(TC) and wanted a good stay. My daughter suggested this place. After all the cheap rooms where sold out, I was forced to rent the best room. Why not. I've seen worse and I've seen better. The room was clean. Towels were plenty. The jacuzzi was perfect. Good service. Friendly atmosphere. BEDBUGS. LOTS OF BEDBUGS. ROOM 427 in the BUNKBEDS. My kids stayed here with their out of state parent when he was visiting. I was able to show up with clean clothes and shoes and grab them straight out of the shower and all of their belongings are still outside our home. My child is missing high school because she is covered in at least 100 bites. Apparently, the hotel refunded my ex husband to pay for what needs replacing, which doesn't help me with their luggage etc. The hotel washed the clothes for them and feel that was a lovely gesture. The manager informed me when I called and asked for replacement of my kids' suitcases and electric blanket, and let her know about my child, that the company they use to kill bedbugs says it wasn't an infestation at all, just a few bugs. That was the manager's response. SERIOUSLY. To say that I am furious and disgusted just wouldn't cover it. If you know me or my kids please know we don't have bedbugs, and that I am writing this review to help others, if my kid knew she would be devastated. read more

They changed my reservation after I called and talked to them about the reservation. The bar wouldn't hold a reservation for 12 people, when asked to hold a table to call when the area is ready. Never got a call, claimed they called 4 times. While in the pool/hot tub, they came into the serve room and put chemicals in the pool/hot tub. The room reeked of cigarette smoke. We hadn't even brought things in from car but were told no other rooms were available and that they couldn't refund or move us. You could also hear word-for-word both the music being piped into the hallway (why are there speakers blasting music at 10 at night), the conversation in the kitchen and of (obnoxious) drunk guests coming from the lounge or pool. DO NOT stay on the 1st floor! Front desk staff was nice but unable to move us to another room despite having asthma that's aggravated by allergy to smoke. Manager then insisted to hotels.com staff that we said that our plans had changed, (admitting no fault) so refused a refund. The night clerk Moniqua (sp?) tried but her hands were tied. The lobby smelled so clean, the front desk employee was very pleasant, and the room was updated and clean. We had a balcony room and it was stunning. I would absolutely stay here again!! We called up to stay here for our 5 year anniversary and weren't warned that the whole hotel was full of kids in a hockey league. We checked out at 9pm due to all the screaming and yelling . We had an AMAZING time! We had a balcony view and it was gorgeous! The check-in process was so fast and easy. The pool was nice (thought I didn't go in) and the hot tub was the PERFECT temp! We were able to walk to Pirate's Cove mini golf and a few restaurants. The location roughly 5 mins from downtown. If we go back to TC ever, we will definitely stay here!!!!! read more

This was our 4th time staying at Parkshore. We usually come during the winter months for snow-skiing , which is not far from this resort. This time , a fall event brought us to town, and we were happy to secure such a beautiful water-view room. There is a restaurant and lounge on-site. Nice bar, great appetizers for non-vegans. Lively environment , complete with DJ and dancing. Large traditional continental Breakfast available for mornings, which even has some fresh fruit. Dump with a view. Literally the worst hotel you could ever stay at. When we walked in to our room, the table had 2 legs. The refrigerator was broken with no knob. The sheets had giant black hair balls in them. And everything smelled like nasty rotten sausage. We tried the lounge to eat and walked out twice with no dinner after waiting an hour and a half. You pay for the view of the bay. Rooms are outdated and not very clean. It's like the entire hotel was a smoking hotel many moons ago and has that old smoker smell. Lounge has a good happy hour, decent food, got some bad nachos but everything else was good Breakfast free, you get what you pay for. Instant oatmeal, cold cereal, some kind of bread, bagels, and hard boiled eggs. There was also a fruit salad that looked frozen. STAY AWAY. My wife and I went here for a wedding over Labor Day weekend and split a room with friends. The room had an odd smell but it didn't ruin the stay. What did ruin the stay was finding a few bugs crawling on pillows when I woke up. They were bed bugs. Look at my pictures to see the bites. They comped our first night and moved us to a room overlooking the bay for our second night. It took us 2 hours to move rooms! They gave us breakfast passes but we chose to go somewhere else to eat based on what we saw up to that point. I wish I could give it zero stars. Play it safe, don't stay here. read more

Our worst hotel experience ever. Management added a bar charge to our credit card after we left [we don't even drink and never set foot in their bar] and then accused us of being "liars" when we objected. Our CC company confirmed the signature was not ours and reversed it. They made the problem 10x worse by being insulting and rude. It is a mediocre hotel at best, not very clean - beach access is awesome - but very hostile, unprofessional management. They routinely argue and fight with guests rather than resolve issues. Go look on TripAdvisor or yahoo to see how they bully guests who make honest critiques. They can't seem to just admit when they mess up. It is unbelievable. read more

This hotel needs major upgrades. I stayed in a king deluxe room and it was anything but! The elevator was directly in front of our door and it is beyond loud at night. The walls are paper thin and we heard the people next door playing their music as well as their conversations. The patio that we upgraded to seriously needed to be hosed off because there were flies everywhere, we ended up barely using it due to that and the outdoor furniture being tore up with a ton of holes and sagging chairs. Stayed here with my boyfriend on a whim. After reading all the yelp reviews I have to admit I was nervous. We loved it! Perfect location, taxis are only about $14 to go downtown. Really nice beach, pool and hot tub. There is a little shack a few feet away where you can rent paddle boards, kayaks ect. for a great price. The resort also had a lounge which had a happy hour every day 3-7 with great cheap drinks and a friendly staff who helped answer any questions about places to go. Food was great! Breakfast buffet in the morning with just about anything you could think of for a great price. Only $12 for the both of us. Had pizza for dinner one night, amazing! seriously you have to try it. Would definitely recommend this place for couples or families because of its great location. read more

Great location but the staff needs a customer service lesson. No one says hello and the housekeeping staff doesn't yield to guests and are always running around. This place needs a service elevator. Also noticed many staff members don't have name tags. Hard to know who works here and who doesn't. This is hospitality management 101, which looks like the property lacks good management. The lounge area could be lighten up. Very dark and dirty looking. We did not take advantage of the breakfast bar due to the look of the set up and the lounge area. The entire place needs a fresh coat of paint and really needs a clean look. The beach area is great, but that's it. We typically stay at sugar beach twice a year and wanted to try something different, which we would probably not come back to park shore again. The fire pit is pretty cool and if they can somehow incorporate the bar with the beach, this place would be awesome. read more

I have never stayed at the Park Shore before, but I have eaten in The ParkShore Lounge several times. My favorite is the wing night on Mondays. I have tried every type of wing this restaurant serves and they are all fantastic. Service is very good and the staff over all is very effective. Today we were on the beach and ordered a cheese pretzel & some jalapeño poppers, both hit the spot. I enjoy pulling up to the bar at The Park Shore Lounge and having a few on a week day night. read more

VISITORS BE AWARE....Nothing about this place meets the definition of "Resort", with exception of the beach front location. While the staff was friendly they are running on a skeleton crew, who never visited our room once during our stay to empty trash or clean. The rooms are old and desperately need to be updated; beds are hard as boards and are Full size NOT Queen, the bathroom tub was not only dangerous to get in/out of but the shower curtain smelled of mildew, the carpet was filthy, the lights in the room had to be fiddled with in order to turn them on and despite our non-smoking preference, the hotel does not enforce their smoking policy as our entire floor smelled of marijuana throughout our stay. Further, when we contacted the hotel they attempted to pass the blame onto us for not being more vocal about our dissatisfaction. This place ABSOLUTELY does NOT deserve an 8.5 star rating. We recommend staying elsewhere. read more

The downstairs bar and restaurant had great food and the drinks were decently priced and delicious. The bloody Mary was spot on. Would totally come back and stay here. Perfect place for a stay with kids on the beach. 10 year old girls loved to rent the paddle board and play in the water. Hotel has a funny smell in the hallways and old looking however rooms were clean and ok and view from balcony was perfect! Loved watch the lake at night and in the morning. First impression when walking in was nice. Then I had to wait at the front desk for 15 minutes until someone came to check me in. The rooms my family were put in were in desperate need of repairs. Stains on the chair, carpet, and the bedding. The handle to turn the shower on was coming out of the wall and the door wouldn't stay closed. There were bugs all over the ceiling, the alarm didnt work, and the best part was the hand prints on the headboard from the previous guests. The Housekeeping staff were swearing and who i believe to be a manager was talking very poorly about her staff. We also seen them smoking marijuanna in their car outside. The pool and hot tub were sandy and the water was salty. My huband and I went to go bring up our issues the following morning and the front desk lady was again no where to be found. We paid a decent amount to stay here and will never stay again. I do not recommend this "resort" to anyone. My family travels quite frequently and we have never paid this amount to stay at a place so run down and unprofessional, especially in traverse city. read more
