Drove twenty seven miles and arrived at 1:08 in the afternoon only to be greeted by a sign on the door window indicating they ran out of bagels! Mind you they ran out one hour and fifty two minutes before closing on a Saturday. This is not a new business nor a fluke. I have previously experienced and heard customers complain about the slim pickings to choose from and low quantities of those bagels still available. They call themselves a bagel shop? Maybe they'd do better if they forget about selling bagels and sell gasoline instead. Less chance of running out and more happy customers likely even its over four dollars a gallon. We visited on a busy Saturday (4/25/26) right around 11:45. I was eager to get a sun-dried tomato bagel as these were always a favorite during my college days and whenever we visit the area (a few times a year). The staff was fulfilling orders quickly. Unfortunately, my bagel had zero taste. My husband, who also fond memories of lakeside, said his breakfast sandwich bagel was just ok. My daughter ordered a cinnamon crunch bagel and also said it was just ok. I'm disappointed that an old must stop, did not live up to what it used to be. read more

I was going to make a pit stop at a Tim Hortons or Dunkin as per usual on my way to Buffalo from Meadville, PA - but when this spot popped up on my GPS I decided to give it a try. I'm so glad I did! It was about 7 minutes off the main road but very easy to get to. I tried an everything bagel with jalapeño bacon cream cheese. Omg the cream cheese was so good!! The counter service was super quick and the girls working were very nice. I was impressed by the variety of the menu, many different kinds of bagels and cream cheeses, bagel sandwiches, and lots of different delicious sounding coffee drinks and flavorings. They also sold their own everything bagel seasoning and homemade chicken salad etc. it was a great little spot to stop! And the dining area was very sizable if you're looking to sit down and eat. read more

Wow wow wow This place is worth the drive! On a cross country trip and drove south from Erie to try LakeSide Bagels. The ladies working were phenomenal. They were so kind and helpful with my choices today. It's such a cute deli. Now onto the bagels.... OH MY GOSH These are amazing. The cream cheese has got to be my favorite. Homemade spreads??? Count me in. My husband got a plain bagel & plain spread, so yummy. I got the Asiago bagel with half roasted red pepper cream cheese & half garlic and herb cream cheese. I literally could not recommend this place more. I'm honestly sad we did this on our last day here and not every day we were here. Fast paced breakfast, that the staff knew how to handle. The line moves quick and you best be ready to order as the bagels are fresh, and the cream cheese has been mixed and blended to perfection. Family ordered an assortment of bagels with Garlic and Herb, Bacon and Jalapeño, and Birthday Cake. Every bagel was delicious and every cream cheese was excellent, the only tweak would be to sweeten up the Birthday Cream cheese as it seemed to be just plain cream cheese and sprinkles. In addition the blueberry scone was bursting with fresh blueberries and just the right amount of icing. The setup was perfect for ordering and you can clip the big line if you order ahead or just want coffee, of which I chose the Happy Mug Sumatra which was super excellent. Was handed across the counter, pipping hot with just the right amount of room in the cup for half and half and stevia. The tables were spaced accordingly with signage to denote which had been cleaned and which had not, so picking a clean spot inside was easy. Clean serving area, excellent quality food and beverages with fantastic customer service make this place a triple win for breakfast through lunch. Open 7 Days a week, serving up some of the freshest boiled bagels I've ever enjoyed. My personal favorite is the Asiago Cheddar with garlic and chive cream cheese. Everything is made from scratch and made fresh daily, you can even watch the bagels roll out from the their 1972 (made in Brooklyn, NY) Scale O Matic bagel machine. Best bagels in town. Onion is definitely my favorite, but they have tons of variety in bagel and spread flavors. They are a bit heavy-handed on the cream cheese. But that is just a warning, not a complaint. They also have a decent selection of GF items such as scones and cookies. Definitely try the blueberry scones if you stop in. read more

My boyfriend's family lives near this bagel shop. We stopped in on our way to Presque Isle to grab lunch mostly because I wanted to try their bagels. My boyfriend really talked them up! They have a wall full of baskets of bagels and options for cream cheese or more savory things like bagel sandwiches. I went for the dill bagel, which was their bagel of the month and had it toasted with egg salad. I couldn't wait to dive in and try the bagel so I had half on the car ride. The bagel was chewy and delicious, the dill was such a good addition and pairs perfectly with egg salad. Can't wait to go back for more bagel flavors next visit! read more

I have been coming to Lakeside Bagels for years and don't know why I've never reviewed the place. The truth is that, when it comes to bagels, western Pennsylvania is basically a desert wasteland of BSOs (Bagel Shaped Objects). Having lived in New York, I know good bagels and was extremely disappointed in the overall bagel quality in PA. However, I then tried Lakeside Bagels and my mind was blown! At the first bite the heavens opened up and I heard angels singing "Hallelujah!" These are bagels as bagels were meant to be. Not just as good as New York - BETTER than New York! Go here. My boyfriend and I came here late in the morning on a Sunday fearing that all of the 'good bagels' would be gone. Even if that were so, the bagels that were left were delicious! The cream cheese and butter options we chose with our round delights were well flavored. Pictured are the cinnamon crunch bagel with cinnamon butter, sesame seed bagel with garlic and herb cream cheese, French toast bagel with honey walnut cream cheese, and a sausage egg and cheese sandwich...we also got two cinnamon scones and seasonal coffees. All of the bagel and spread options were equally delicious in their own ways. My only complaint is that there was a LOT of spread. We scraped a decent amount off while still leaving an ample amount on the bagel. The coffee was delicious as well. It didn't taste burnt or old. The scones didn't taste that good, but Lakeside Bagels isn't known for their scones! read more

The bagel shop has been a go-to breakfast and lunch spot for me, my friends and family for years. It's also great meeting place for business and clubs. The atmosphere has potential. They usually feature local art, which I'd like to see more of. Edinboro is full of talented artists. They also have a bulletin board posted with local events and businesses which gives the bagel shop a very community-centric image. They also have recycling bins for customers to recycle their drink bottles. You order at a counter and the staff is very fast and friendly. They get you in and out quickly. The selections include almost 2-dozen bagel flavors made fresh in house, and several cream cheese flavors, which I believe are whipped. When you order your bagel with cream cheese, they really load it up (which I love) but if you like less cream cheese, ask....or ask for it on the side instead. You can't really go wrong in your bagel flavor selection...they have all been really good and I've never disliked a flavor. My favorites are garlic, Asiago cheese, French toast, and sunflower. If you're in the mood for something more substantial, they have breakfast sandwiches and also they have several lunch-type bagel sandwiches with classic cold cuts, cheeses, veggies, and salads. I like to get the chicken salad sandwich with provolone, lettuce and tomato and for the bagel flavor I like to mix it up. I recently had my sandwich on garlic, which is not too overpowering and is crispy on the outside and soft on the inside. You can also order several sides: they always have a soup of the day (or two), pasta salad, potato salad, and mac salad, and bagged chips. They have a list of combo options on the left wall above the pastry case. They also serve Green Mountain coffee (and they have a self-serve cream/sweetener station which I prefer) and a variety of bottled teas, sodas, juices. I LOVE their scones. They are just perfect in texture and the glaze adds the perfect touch. They offer other baked goods as well as gift baskets and sell bagels by-the-dozen. I'm really going to miss this place when we move out of Edinboro, but will stop here when we come back to 'Boro to visit. read more

This place was recommended to me by a friend I went to college here with. He said that this place was amazing and he did NOT disappoint. Personally I love sandwiches on bagels, so after seeing the menu I was in love! Pictured below is the breakfast sandwich that has egg, cream cheese and your choice of ham, bacon, or sausage. I had ham. My only complaint with this place is the size. We went there on a Sunday before Memorial Day, no parking and my mom waited in a very long line to order. This isn't really bad thing since it means they are popular, but They could for sure benefit for expanding a little bit. From what my mom said, once she ordered the service was very fast and friendly (and trust me, she is the director of a district in the company Aramark, she would tell me if the service was bad). This complaint was was only necessary to mention because we were coming home from a long trip back to Michigan from New York and we needed to get on the road. Any other day? 5/5. read more

Let's talk about expectations because growing up with bagels at every turn and then moving about to places that do not share my bagel values has given me some insight into what different people expect. It seems to me that many people can't tell one "bagel" from another. You see, I grew up with bagels. There were bagels at every event I went to. In the place I grew up, you could tell the difference between a baked bagel and a boiled bagel. You could feel the difference in texture. As I moved from place to place I found not every community valued bagels as I did. Most people seems to really like bagels that are coated with toppings, as opposed to baked right in, and don't mind that they are eating a soft squishy roll with a hole in the middle. You like that? That's fine, but I expect my bagels to actually be bagels. You need that harder, chewy outer layer of bread. That is important for the bagel to keep its structure when cut in half or when used to scrap tuna salad from the plate. You need that soft dense middle to have small air bubbles so when you toast it the surface is smooth but can hold onto your spread. Large holes will give you a mouth full of spread and provide an inconsistent experience; one bite full of crunch followed by another that is all spread. Who would want that? You need that density to make your bagel satisfying. Lakeside Bagel & Deli makes a real bagel. A great bagel! I would recommend this place to anyone. It is worth the drive from Erie every time. read more

Lakeside Bagel is what it is - a bagel shop. I didn't expect much the first time I went there, but I was quite impressed. The bagel sandwiches are absolutely amazing. There's no other way to put it. Try the roast beef - I highly recommend it. As far as breakfast goes, the pumpkin cream cheese is an excellent choice. The best bagels in northwest Pennsylvania. They have several varieties of bagels (all baked in house), several kinds of spreads, and several flavors of Green Mountain coffee. The servers are friendly, occasionally too much so. They tend to chitchat with customers they know, which is fine, but when there's a line... well, you get my point. Parking and seating get difficult during peak hours, and service can be very slow. On the whole, though, worth a visit. read more

The dining area is a little stark and stale, but the staff was friendly and the prices good. Best for picking up to-go. Wonderful homey atmosphere, tons of varied bagels to choose from. Service, eh. For one doesn't the owner's son realize that one day he will inherit this bagel kingdom? Wow, talk about unfriendly. He works with an attitude that says he doesn't want to be there. Most of the service are young ladies most of which have a personality with the rare exception of one - she doesn't want to be there either. It's all about customer service and for that I give it three stars. Bagels I would give 5 stars. It has been 5 years since I lived in Edinboro as a university student and I was thrilled today to have a chance to stop at my favorite old breakfast/lunch spot. Just as I remember, my favorite bagel sandwich was just as spectacular and scrumptious as it used to be! However, I can't give 5 stars because it was the most awkward service I have received in some time. I was ignored and stared through as the girl waiting on me talked to the other college kids all around me, did not bother to greet me or even say "I'll be right with you" and merely finally asked what she could get me. I don't think you could have paid me to stay and eat there. I felt like an inconvenient sore thumb listening to giddy plans about weekend going-out plans and expected hangovers. I get it. I've been there and had just as much fun in college. Also, it's a bagel shop- I'm not expecting specialty treatment. But at least be courteous and treat your customers as if their time & money are appreciated. read more
