Bagels are some of my favorite breakfast items and boy did these hit the spot! I really love their unique take on some of the special bagel items like the reuben with lox and the sabich! If you like middle eastern flavors and roasted eggplant, you'll love the sabich. I especially enjoyed their tuna melt, sausage egg cheese sandwich, and strawberry cream cheese on a poppy seed bagel. They also do a spicy everything bagel which I haven't seen done anywhere else! The shop features pretty cool art that's aligned on the wall. I've been working across the street the whole time and didn't know this place sold food. I thought it was a quirky retail store but to my surprise, I found out they sell some very delicious bagels. Nubeigel is a humble bagel shop located in the Cedar Lee neighborhood. The bagel shop offers hand rolled kosher bagels and schemers. The menu features various sandwiches (on a bagel), bagels, and schemers you won't find elsewhere. There's also a small coffee menu. Most guests take their bagels to go. The location is usually not crowded, there's really no wait. There is seating inside with tables and high tops. During my latest visit I ordered Biegel + Schmear (sesame bagel + Kalamata Olive Cream Cheese), Sausage Egg Cheese on sesame seed bagel, and two drip coffees. My order had a very generous amount of cheese and cream cheese. Kalamata olive cream cheese was very unusual and tasty. Bagels tasted very fresh. Sausage inside the sandwich tasted very dry and tasteless. Maybe it was overcooked, not sure. Coffee was ok. Prices at the location are pretty budget friendly especially if you're buying bagels in larger quantities. The most pricey option seems to be salmon sandwich. Service is just ok. It's fast but not overly friendly. I'd say it's very transactional. The shop has new merch available. You can buy sweaters, pins, shirts, and baseball caps. My only criticism is that the music is so loud and aggressive for the morning. One can't hear their morning thoughts while at this location. Something more loungey would go better with bagels. read more

Some of the best bagels in town (i.e., East side suburbs) -- their rye bagels are the best I have ever had anywhere ever, just COATED both sides in seeds and super crunchy. The flavor is fantastic, the perfect merger of bagel and rye bread! incredible for sandwiches! No other rye bagels compare. Onion, Garlic, Everything all excellent. I did not care for "spicy" Everything, but that can be just me. I have not yet tried their cream cheeses, they sound good but I'm a "toasted & buttered" bagel girl. BTW: if you like to slice & freeze bagels for later... they sell day olds that are extremely good & fresh and freeze perfectly -- a real bargain! (NOTE: Nubeigel tends to make a "more browned" bagel, almost Montreal style -- vs. the very pale bagels at other local bagel shops. I love this, but YMMV.) read more

Nubeigel is not just another bagel shop, it feels like real food done right. I had the open face tuna melt and it was fantastic. Fresh, filling, and you can tell they actually care about what they are making. I spoke to the owner too, he used to work in a Michelin star restaurant and honestly you can tell. If a bagel could be called cuisine this would be it... but it is still a bagel - which makes it even better! There are bagel shops and then there is Nubeigel . We stopped by here on a Sunday morning and it was so amazing! I haven't found a bagel place that I love in Cleveland until trying out nubeigel. We ordered an everything bagel with capers/red onion schmear and smoked salmon, as well as an onion bagel with hot honey garlic schmear. Both bagels were so delicious. I wasn't feeling coffee that morning, but their coffee menu looks good. Their prices are reasonable and the service was super fast and friendly! It's a small shop but there's a decent amount of seating and while it was pretty empty when we arrived, the shop filled up 5 minutes later with a line out the door! Note to self: Visit Nubeigel right when they open because when I came in at 12:30 for some bagel and shmear, they only had like, 6 bagels left. This bagel shop is clearly popular because they were so low on stock on a random early Thursday afternoon. I can see why because my poppyseed bagel with harissa shmear was mega delicious! The shmear was chunky and generously applied on my big poppyseed bagel. Personally, I think it wpuld have tasted better on a warm, toasted bagel but they do not toast bagels there. The price wasn't too bad either at $4 but I didn't load up on extras which could quickly add up. Next time, I hope to get there early enough to try their za'atar bagel as za'atar is one of my favorite seasonings. read more

It seemed like the sort of place you'd want to get your bagels from, with classic elements of Jewishness including lame jokes between staff, as well as a mouthwatering smell. And while I waited a bit to eat my bagels, the flavor delivered a delightful savory-sour mix that's not easy to find in a bagel. They're salty, they're full of carbs, no one's calling them healthy, but they are delicious. And the topping options included "spicy everything" and za'atar, so you can really spice things up. I didn't see that they offered a ton of things as a restaurant, but bagels to go is a perfectly good niche to fill. I can toast them myself. I only tried the place because it was walking distance from my Airbnb and I had to wait for someone to move cars so I could get out of the driveway, and this place coincidentally popped up in Yelp's recent reviews. Cleveland is not a city that would come to mind when I would think about bagels, but a recent Tasting Table article rated the best bagels in every state. Of course nubeigel was ranked as the best bagel in Ohio. When I arrived, it was about 2 hours before closing, and they only had 4 Za'atar bagels remaining. The Za'atar bagel definitely did not disappoint. While not a typical flavor, it was nonetheless delicious with a Mediterranean kick. The bagels were perfectly doughy and clearly freshly made. My only wish was that the bagel was briefly toasted to give a slight crunch to complement the chewiness of the bagel. Overall, nubeigel definitely lives up to the hype, and I can't wait to come back and try other bagel flavors. Next time I know to come earlier in the day before they sell out! read more

Making bagels right behind the counter with an easy to navigate yet not sparse menu. Sesame, poppy, everything, and everything spicy in addition to fresh plain bagels. The vegan brownies they sell for $4 are super duper moist and fudgy. The lox was rich in flavor and dark pink and went well with the cream cheese on an everything bagel which was super super chewy and dense. The sesame bagel was also fresh and flavorful yet incredibly dense and quite a workout to chew. The poppyseeds on the poppyseed bagel are perfectly toasted in flavor and absolutely delectable on top. The tough chew was not my favorite but I understand it's a type. I heated the sesame bagel up and it became better/easier to eat after ten seconds. read more

Thrilled for all the spice options I had!!! I ordered the spicy everything bagel with harissa shmear. I added smoked salmon and onions. Wish I would've asked for capers and if they had hot sauce, but I added my own. I came a whim, looking for parking for stone oven but my eyes saw this place, yelped it and took a chance! I'm really enjoyed it. I ordered the chai latte against my better judgement. I like fresh ground spices on my chai. This was made from a carton mix that was heavy on the sweetness and light on the warm spices. I would definitely come back! Great service and nice, clean space. I did pay close to $15 for the bagel and latte, but it is hearty and I can enjoy the other half of the bagel later :) read more

I recently got a zaatar bagel and spicy everything bagel with plain cream cheese. Both bagels were cooked well with soft exteriors and somewhat crusty interiors. While the zaatar bagel could have used more flavor, the spicy everything had an appropriate kick. I would definitely recommend if you are looking for a bagel in Cleveland. read more

Nubeigel is a great addition to the Cleveland Heights area! It is a cute little bagel shop right off of Lee Rd, which competes with other bagel shops in the area. There is no parking lot but some free street parking around the corner and on Lee Rd itself. The place itself is wedged between another restaurant and a library, and while it is small, it is spacious with high ceilings. They have minimalist decorations with quite cute wall decor. I really enjoyed their selection of bagels and schmears. I got their everything spicy bagel with red onion and capers schmear with a side of caramel coffee. I would say the quality of my bagel compared to others I've had in the area is comparable. However, I had a taste of my partner's everything spicy bagel with salmon and sriracha schmear, and that was a significant improvement. They've got several other flavors I'm interested in trying including a kalamata olive schmear, that I would definitely go back for. Overall, this is a fun new bagel place in Cleveland Heights that isn't Bruegger's or the Cleveland Bagel company that adds something unique to the area! read more

I was visiting Ohio to see Phish in Dayton from LA and had to visit my long time bestie and bakery owner Josh at Nubeigel. I worked in the bagel industry for many years and I must say: Nubeigel has the best bagel I've ever had - hands down! My friend, a local, and I got everything bagels with the Harissa Schmear and lox with veggies. The bagel was baked perfectly and the seeds were abundant- as they should be. The lox were fresh and savory with a hint of sweet and smoke. Veggies were fresh. The bakery was clean in front and back and the art on the walls was fabulous! 100% going back next time I'm in town.
