Amazing shop for great Italian pasta, sauces, deli and bakery items. Their soups and sandwiches are all fantastic. My favourite is the Reuben sandwich and soups. I can't say enough good things about this gem in Leamington. read more

Breakfast was great. Nice shopping area for deli, bakery and gifts. We sat next to the fireplace and enjoyed our meal.

The menu is a bit misleading. My wife ordered a crepe. The way it said on the menu made you feel that you can get blueberry/ cranberry/ strawberry / whiped cream, etc for free. But it will charge $1.75 for nutella. Apparently this was not the case in our bill, each kind of berry (berry sauce) cost 1.75! and the waitress did not say anything about this. Eventually the crepe came with blueberry sauce, strawberry sauce and cranberry sauce. The berries were not in the crepe as you would get in other restaurant. It was the berries sauce...it did taste pretty good but I wish the waitress could have told us before she charged. Over 15 dollars for a crepe and the sauce is quite expensive. read more

I've driven by on numerous occasions and never stopped in, mainly because their parking lot was packed. Decided one day to go in and see what the fuss is all about. I've now gone back four additional times. The place is fairly large....a bakery, deli, food emporium and restaurant all melded into one. On my first visit I wandered through their emporium section...with olive oils, vinegar, pastas, soup mixes, etc. Prices are a tad on the higher end, but quality is there. The bakery (pastries) while limited in selection due to space, is ample enough that you'll find something to like. Fresh baked breads are everywhere and deliscious. Their restaurant offers bkfst and lunch items. I've only sampled their soups and sandwiches and have yet to be disappointed. Soups are fresh and hearty...sandwiches filling and stuffed with meat. My fave is the potato/ham soup paired with prosciutto sandwich. If you can't finish, you can get a to go container and finish it at home (or in the car on the way home).... Staff are friendly. Only reason for 4 stars is the price point on some of their grocery items. read more

Nice sandwich shop in Leamington. Crepes look nice for breakfast. Had lunch there today. Turkey sandwich on rye (no seeds?). It was a decent size for $5.75. $1 for 20 chips (definitely not a global chain by the design)? Would have preferred a bag. Why don't you offer potato salad or cole slaw with your sandwiches? Prefer fountain over bottle beverage selections. Brownies look better than they are. Took 2 bites of one with mint topping and threw it away. Not as fresh as I would have expected from a bakery. Lots of choices of cakes, donuts and pastries. Not sure if they are made on their premises. read more

This place is great. My husband and I are in town from Pittsburgh for a weekend getaway and went here two days in a row for lunch! We shared a chicken panini and chips the first day and the next day we each got a soup (chicken noodle and French onion) and butterknot breakfast sandwiches which were amazing!! We also bought several pastries here too :) This was definitely our favorite spot in the area! read more

Lakeside Bakery & Deli Cafe is Leamington's hidden gem. Growing up in Windsor, and then moving away, you appreciate the little things throughout the city and county that you grew up with even more. I came down to Windsor to visit my family, and my sister who lives in Harrow, so this was a great place to stop to pick up some sweet treats for the weekend! We came for the bakery side the other day. My sister needed to pick up a pie for her husband's birthday celebration, and while she was doing that, our friend and I were browsing all the pastries and baked goods they had available. So many to choose from, they also had a great selection of bread, and some specialty items available as well as meats and cheeses. When I was finally ready to order, the third person to come and help us packaged up our desserts. The staff were right on top of everything and we had three people ask us if we wanted something, but we were still deciding. I just wanted a few items for my mom and I to share, so I got a slice of German Brownie, regular brownie and a Nanaimo bar because those are my favourite. Prices are reasonable for the bakery area. Hoping next time to come and order lunch here at their deli. Lakeside Bakery and Deli is definitely a hidden gem in this town, with all the other things Leamington has to offer. Went for breakfast here as we were visiting Pt Pelee. Chose this location because of previous good reviews .Got the Hungry Man breakfast. After we returned to our hotel (2 min away) we ate it. Unfortunately, the breakfast was quite unpleasant. The bacon was leathery and not crispy. The ham was also dry and unpleasant. The home fries were soggy also. Toast was good. Especially given the price, this was poor quality food. We did call to express our concern. The lady who answered the phone offered a free poundcake (not something we were interested in). Would not recommend this place based on our experience. read more

The food is good, the price was slightly high but tolerable. The breads are all really good and they're the same as supermarket prices except fresher. The service is awful. While waiting for food, all that can be seen is the staff laughing and chatting amongst themselves. Doing NOTHING. Horribly irritating. Also, they are incredibly inconsistent. I have gotten three creme brûlées there so far, not a single one even close to the other. The first one I got was amazing, and both of the ones after that lack lustre. Another problem that they have is that they have too many four tops, not enough two tops. What is left is all the four tops full with two people. So out of the five times I've gone, 3 times, I turned right back around and walked out, for everything was full because of they're insufficient seating plan. All in all, will return but things do need to change and be improved upon. read more

The restaurant is open and has signs to walk in one direction during COVID-19. Staff is friendly. Lots of baked goods to choose from. Has a small dining area as well. Didn't try any of the food but would not recommend coffee as it tastes like cheap motel coffee. read more

This is a beautiful little place inside the town of Leamington. There is not a Starbucks in Leamington...and this place makes a good replacement in regards to atmosphere. The brownies are to die for and the coffee is fairly priced. I've had the sandwiches and they are delicious as well! This is a place that I stop at regularly :) read more

We are miles from french bakeries or even some french canadian bakeries. atmosphere - The concept of this place is a mish-mash of stolen ideas - coffee shop, bakery, cheeses, charcuterie, breakfast, mugs & other crap - so it shows, not one of the different stations has homogeneous design, from the font of the signage, to the counters. The flow is pretty badly designed. price - reasonable, pastries are between $1.5 and $2. The coffee is as always their money maker and thus too expensive (Starbucks prices) read more

Stopped in for lunch on a Saturday. My wife was excited because she hadn't been there for a few years but had told me how good it was. I wanted to try their chili in a bread bowl. They informed me that this bakery no longer does bread bowls. I was alright with it since it came with garlic bread. The chili was lacking flavour and pretty thin. I would have called it soup instead of chili. The price was a little high for what I had. My wife had a soup and 1/2 turkey sandwich combo. Her roasted red pepper soup tasted as if they simply blended some canned roasted red peppers. The consistency was also jelly like which didn't add to its appeal. Her sandwich was ordered with extra mayo, and she received none until she went up and asked again. She also asked the girl how much turkey was normally on the sandwich because she only received one slice. The girl said that the meat was portioned by weight and it was probably a big slice. For the price we paid we had hoped for a little more. We both left disappointed and hungry. The pastries might be good but this is not a place to have a meal at. read more

Lakeside was a great find in Leamington - it was a nice break from fried food, and had lots of options for yummy and fresh paninis, salads, and desserts. However, the service left much to be desired. While waiting for our food after ordering at the counter, we decided to move from the patio to inside, and the waitress rolled her eyes, as if we were being a huge inconvenience to her. Furthermore, as we waited in line after our meal to get some to-go desserts, the cashiers repeatedly called up people who were waiting behind us in line, as if they didn't even see us waiting for over 10 minutes. I've given Lakeside two chances and I've been let down each time. My first experience i waited 25 minutes for 2 sandwiches. My second experience I made my order for 1 ciabatta and after about 10 minutes I had to ask for someone to start making it. After it was made the woman shouted "order up," placing the container on a shelf and walked into the back... nobody was in front and able to pass me my sandwich. I stood there for another 5 minutes waiting for someone to return and realize I had been waiting for my food. When I did finally get to dig in, bread was soaked from moisture, and there was SO MUCH Dijon that I couldn't bring it close to my face as the fumes were very strong. My eyes would begin to water and my sinuses cleared. Such strange and unpleasant experiences, I want this place to be sooo good, but they just don't have it all together. read more

My husband and I pulled in one crisp early morning, hoping to get a great breakfast for a hiking day ahead of us. He got a veggie omelette which was ok, and I ordered a crepe with strawberry and ricotta. Strawberry turned out to be super sweet warm strawberry jam, ricotta was full of sugar and the crepe was dusted with sugar powder! We tried three different soups and they were all less than mediocre. They serve you nasty bread with seeds in it with your soup, and our salad although it tasted fine, had a spider in it that we didn't notice until we had eaten some. Out of the entire meal, I enjoyed my water the most. read more

As far as bread goes, I will go out of my way to stop at Lakeside for a loaf of San Fransico Sour Dough or Pumpernickel. I always grab a coffee while I am there. No complaints about either. I have always had good service. Lots of pastry selections too. read more

Went out with my family for a drive to Leamington and had a lunch at Lakeside Bakery. Looks are deceiving, we ordered 2 sandwiches and 1 bowl of soup.....we awaiting over 40 minutes. I realize that it is not a Subway but this was crazy, when I finally asked for the manager they brought out my sandwich and not the others, I finally went up again and said they were coming, almost 10 minutes later they came out....no apology's were given. My friends and I are from Windsor and stopped in to grab coffee and a snack. To say the least we were all pretty disappointed. The coffee was okay. Tim Horton's down the road would have been preferred. My husband got their ciabatta italian sandwich which was almost $10. It was nothing special. Honestly the extreme Italian at timmies down the road would have been better and a better value considering they are both served with a side of kettle chips. And I am Italian so that says a lot. We had their pastries which were all bland and left something to be desired. Their canolis were SOFT ad if they were 2 days old. Anyone who loves canolis will know to stay away. My friends Americanos were watery and super acidic. We will not stop here again. read more

My sisters and I went for lunch as part of a birthday celebration. Three of us ordered the red pepper tomato soup and sandwich lunch special. One ordered soup and salad. The soups came not even luke-warm but cold, and the seeds from the tomatoes were not strained. The mandarin oranges in the salad were spoiled, an acrid flavor that surely should have been noticed when the can was opened. The bathroom was filthy. The first of our party who used the bathroom told a waitress of the condition, and another member of the party who used the bathroom some 20 minutes later experienced the same conditions...not even paper or towel to dry your hands...But the greatest disappointment of all was when we asked to use a "Lakeside Bakery Deli Café " gift certificate for three desserts and were told that it was too old and issued by a manager that hadn't worked there for a long time. This was an official, beautiful certificate on company paper with no expiry date on it. Had the manager known the circumstances of its issue, she certainly would be embarrassed ( I think). I explained that the certificate was issued by the 'establishment' not the management. We will not return or recommend this establishment to our friends or family. read more
