Triple Decker House Club Sandwich
Darolyn B.

I haven't been here in years, I don't know why. The food is fabulous. I got the triple decker sandwich, 1/2 fries and 1/2 onion rings. They did not skimp on the meat, even plenty of bacon. I will definitely be a return customer.

Maybe veggie omelette with home fries and Homemade Cinnamon Roll
Charlie R.

I ordered takeout that cost around 35 dollars. I got chicken fried steak and just a standard egg, bacon, potatoes and pancake breakfast. They sent me a 12 dollar veggie omelet and a big cinnamon roll. I figured Aw what the heck i dont want to waste it. The onion and bell peppers were chopped to a inconsistent medium to large dice in the potatoes They were seared on the edges, but very undercooked. The potatoes tasted like a baked potato chopped up into chunks. It literally had no salt or pepper at all. The omelet and the side of breakfast potatoes were not seasoned at all. The potatoes were probably pre-boiled with skins still intact and then heated up on a skillet with the bell peppers and onions with no oil. Very bland. . The omelette was cold and the juices from tomatoes in veggie omelette were seeping into the omelet so it was watery and cold. It was weird to bite into egg and have cold tomato juice run out. The cinnamon roll was stale as hell and, just warm on arrival. You can't give people a several day old cinnamon roll and pop it in a microwave for 30 seconds and try to trick people into thinking it was fresh. Absolute trash food and I'm glad I got a refund for receiving the wrong order. 2 stars for the effort and portion size for the price? Relatively cheaper than other breakfast places in the area. Omelet probably would have been good if it was fresh and cooked properly. Im guessing they prep their veggies and keep them cold on the side. Seems like they tossed cold ingredients into cooked eggs and pulled the omelet before the veggies were heated up. . I wound up not eating the rest and I am driving to breakfast somewhere else.

Chilaquiles w/eggs & cinnamon roll french toast.

First off the food has been better lately than at some points in recent years. Have come here on and off for over a decade. Just recently met their new waitress, Heather, who was holding down the entire restaurant along with one chef. The food was good, came out in a timely fashion, and the service she provided was stellar. We were instantly captivated by her engaging manner, friendliness and attentive responses. Some needs were anticipated before even asked. Something about her not only had our table raving, but tables that filled in around us. We were all engaged in thanking her for her amazing attitude. This might sound exaggerated, but Heather was very genuine and single-handedly up-leveled the whole dining experience for every table in our vicinity.

Our awesome server Heather made it a great experience. This was a super find as we traveled through my hometown of Lakeside, CA.

Come for the Matzo, Stay for the Eye Candy (and the Sweet Chef!)…read more So, I took my grandma out for dinner because she had a massive craving for matzo ball soup. We ordered, but a few minutes later, our waiter came out looking like he had to deliver bad news. He apologized and said the chef refused to serve the current batch because it "wasn't up to his standards." Before we could even process being denied our soup, the chef himself walked out to our table. First of all? The man is dangerously handsome. Second of all? He was incredibly sweet. He politely offered us tomato soup instead, but then saw the heartbreak in my grandma's eyes. He told us, "Look, if you really want the matzo ball soup and can give me 15 minutes, I will go to the back and whip up a brand new, fresh batch just for your grandma." Naturally, we waited. Since he knew we were sharing, this absolute legend threw an extra matzo ball into the bowl so we could each have two. Talk about elite customer service! It really made us realize how much the people here care about the quality of their food. They won't serve you subpar dishes just to flip a table. My grandma was on cloud nine. She officially declared it the absolute best matzo ball soup she has ever had in her life (sorry, family recipe, you've been replaced by a handsome chef).

They have indoor and outdoor seating by the pool. It was a hot day so we sat inside and it was also much quieter inside There were not too many other customers while we were there, and I have to say the only downside is the service is really slow and you have to flag down the staff repeatedly even to get your water refilled. Basically once you order, they don't check back in on you much. However, I have zero notes about the food taste, and quality. We shared a patty melt sandwich and ordered an extra set of onion rings. The onion rings were absolutely perfect. They came out hot and crispy without too much better and with the perfect ratio of onion taste. The patty melt was also perfect and really enjoyed the pickle on the side. The dish came with a house made ranch, which was not too thick and very fresh and herbal tasting. I loved it. I also ordered a latte and while the latte foam wasn't the most beautiful thing I have seen, it was very well-made and tasty. The uniforms and the table where all are custom-made for the hotel and diner. The style was very cool. I would totally return anytime. I am back in town

The diner is conveniently located right along the main street, surrounded by local shops and restaurants. There was both indoor and outdoor seating available, and we chose to sit inside. Everything was clean, the atmosphere was welcoming, and the staff was friendly and attentive. We were seated immediately when we arrived, but by the time we left there was a small wait, which tells me this is a popular spot with both locals and visitors. I ordered the two-piece French toast with a side of bacon. The portion size was just right, the French toast was delicious, and the bacon was cooked exactly the way I like it--crispy around the edges without being overdone. I have to laugh because I started eating before I remembered to take pictures...haha! So my French toast photo is missing a few bites, but I guess that's a pretty good indication that I couldn't wait to dig in. Overall, we had a wonderful breakfast and enjoyed our experience from start to finish. If you're looking for a classic diner while visiting Encinitas, I would definitely recommend stopping by. Next time I'd love to come back and try lunch. (I'll take better photos ).

The latter was a good amount of food. My omelette was the bacon, cheese and avocado, and it was pretty good. Service was fine, and we sat outside. About the only thing that was a concern was the weird guy outside who intentionally ran alongside and obstructed joggers as they passed by. He hung around the area for a bit and seems like a regular, based on the waitstaff's reactions.

It was hard to narrow it down. Even when we finally came to a conclusion, there were egg options, bread options, syrup options, etc. Endless combinations, effortlessly delicious. The corned beef hash exceeded expectations, made with actual beef and not the canned stuff. The french toast was not dry, and to ensure it wasn't dry, it was covered in syrup and cream anglaise. Once we got the food, the servers were hands off to let us enjoy the meal. And the second we finished, they were ready to clear the table and provide the check. There were several quirky cute diners in the area so it was tough to choose. Ultimately, Izzy's menu excited me more than the others. I love the barbecue brunch thing going on, too. Very unique and we totally would've tried some ribs had we not gone to Phil's for the first time the night before and had a ton of leftovers. We split a Country Benny and the Jalapeño scramble, which had their homemade pulled pork in it. Julie was an outstanding server. Super patient, attentive, and helpful. You can choose muffins or coffee cake (only $1 extra!) instead of toast, which I love by the way, but I really appreciated that she asked if I had tried the coffee cake because it's not what I thought it was. She explained it as more of a vanilla cupcake with nuts and white icing? Which is kinda random that they call it coffee cake, but it made us opt for the zucchini muffin which was definitely the right choice. Moist, warm, and delicious to nibble on while we waited for the rest of our meal. She also asked if we needed anything else, like salsa, when our entrees came. Which, I usually alwayyys have to request but she was 2 steps ahead of us. The Bloody Mary was tasty and just strong enough to start our afternoon. I'm a huge sucka for biscuits & gravy and theirs really hit the spot. The sausage patty was so good and definitely homemade. Perfectly poached eggs harmoniously smothered in yummy gravy and fluffy biscuits. Crispy hashbrowns, great country potatoes. The scramble was good, too. Pulled pork had a nice smoky flavor and I've never seen nor had it with eggs before which is awesome. The portions were just right. Not huge, but we got full and everything tasted great so what more can you ask for? The deep fried pie! Duh. Super bummed we didn't take a peach one home...
