Updating my review here. I ordered omelettes from this place about a week or two ago and there were long strands of dark hair all throughout the meal. I received a refund from Grubhub but I am awfully disappointed in how the quality has gone downhill. We will not be back to this establishment. I also contacted them on Facebook as I follow their social media and they denied having the hair in their food. Looking through reviews, I see that I am not the only one who has experienced having things in their food that came from this restaurant. The fact that I've never had an issue with this place (of which I've been going to for years now) and once an issue is brought to their attention, their unwillingness and denial to take accountability for their actions tells me all that I need to know about them. This is not the Queen of England decor it is a little outdated. It is in my opinion better than CAFE 67 another breakfast spot know for a rude owner and bland food. Great menu - my favorite is the BBQ chicken entre salad. Only open until 2 but willl serve anything on the dinner part of their menu for our enjoyment at lunch. I ordered takeout that cost around 35 dollars. I got chicken fried steak and just a standard egg, bacon, potatoes and pancake breakfast. They sent me a 12 dollar veggie omelet and a big cinnamon roll. I figured Aw what the heck i dont want to waste it. The onion and bell peppers were chopped to a inconsistent medium to large dice in the potatoes They were seared on the edges, but very undercooked. The potatoes tasted like a baked potato chopped up into chunks. It literally had no salt or pepper at all. The omelet and the side of breakfast potatoes were not seasoned at all. The potatoes were probably pre-boiled with skins still intact and then heated up on a skillet with the bell peppers and onions with no oil. Very bland. . The omelette was cold and the juices from tomatoes in veggie omelette were seeping into the omelet so it was watery and cold. It was weird to bite into egg and have cold tomato juice run out. The cinnamon roll was stale as hell and, just warm on arrival. You can't give people a several day old cinnamon roll and pop it in a microwave for 30 seconds and try to trick people into thinking it was fresh. Absolute trash food and I'm glad I got a refund for receiving the wrong order. 2 stars for the effort and portion size for the price? Relatively cheaper than other breakfast places in the area. Omelet probably would have been good if it was fresh and cooked properly. Im guessing they prep their veggies and keep them cold on the side. Seems like they tossed cold ingredients into cooked eggs and pulled the omelet before the veggies were heated up. . I wound up not eating the rest and I am driving to breakfast somewhere else. read more

I called for a 'pre baked' breakfast for our Christmas morning, something we could throw in the oven in the morning. They didn't have anything on the menu, but when I stopped in, the chef came out and asked me what I wanted in it... eggs, veggies, cheese... oh yeah. He said "be right back". Within 15-minutes, after a free iced tea, he came out with a container with eggs, spinach, potatoes, cheese, and said "you'll like this!". He gave me their container wrapped in a towel asking to bring it back as they really didn't have anything to do that... and THANK YOU for trusting me. My opinion... PLEASE find a way for customers to take your amazing recipes home to reheat, especially during holidays, etc. Your food and service is AMAZING and, after this experience, I will ALWAYS send my friends your way. First off the food has been better lately than at some points in recent years. Have come here on and off for over a decade. Just recently met their new waitress, Heather, who was holding down the entire restaurant along with one chef. The food was good, came out in a timely fashion, and the service she provided was stellar. We were instantly captivated by her engaging manner, friendliness and attentive responses. Some needs were anticipated before even asked. Something about her not only had our table raving, but tables that filled in around us. We were all engaged in thanking her for her amazing attitude. This might sound exaggerated, but Heather was very genuine and single-handedly up-leveled the whole dining experience for every table in our vicinity. read more

I normally don't write reviews, but here we are.. My daughter and I wanted to try something new and we were in the area so we stopped by and had a bite to eat for breakfast earlier this morning. Service was really good 10/10. Food was decent up until i went to give my 16 month old a bite of pancake and there was a metal shaving in it. I called the waitress over right away and she took it back to the cook. The cook never came out to apologize and all I had received were 2 fresh pancakes to go, and $3 taken off my bill... I don't know if it's because i'm younger that nothing was really done about it or what but that's besides the point. Haven't been here in 5 or 6 years - figured I would pop in and give it a try. Well, I don't really plan on being back for another 5 or 6 years. :-( Prices are extremely high - well above other local restaurants. Home style potatoes were nothing more than red potatoes chopped in huge pieces barely grilled and extremely dry. 75 cents extra for green peppers and onions in the potatoes - and very raw, barely hit the griddle. Stopped in today with a group of 14. The service was perfect! Our waitress, Heather, was good natured, kept all of our orders straight, and made sure we had everything we needed. The owners have changed, but the quality seems to remain at this eatery. The food appears to be from scratch which is difficult to find in today's busy world. It was one of my Mom's favorites as well as my own. Fresh home made cooking, a country cafe with modest decor that is just, well ... comfy (not fancy). The seating is plentiful and they usually have a television on in the background with country music and sometimes sports or news. Since the pandemic, all eateries have gone up in price it appears. Lakeside Cafe is fair in its pricing in consideration (lunch for two can range on average at about $30.00 [give or take depending on what is ordered] with drinks for two). The booths could need some updating, but I can't take a star off due to the home made cooking that is rare to find. The soup has chunks of veggies and goodness, the guacamole is home made from scratch and delicious on the build your own burger (for which you can choose grilled chicken breast). The chicken breast is marinated in something extremely delicious. I highly recommend the home made roll if ordering where there is a choice! The dinners are just as fabulous as the lunches, although check on-line for hours. I have a friend that goes to Lakeside Cafe for its stroganoff. My Mom and I loved the turkey dinner, but again, Lakeside Cafe's hours are different after pandemic (so google first or they could be closed)! The portions are of a great size and the home made buns / rolls are truly a treat. The waitresses/services is awesome as well. All in all, if you are not looking for 'fancy' (the interior could use new booths), but going out in jeans and a Tee and want some good home cooked food -- this is a hidden gem in Lakeside that I'm sure you will enjoy. read more

The food was great but came out cold because our waitress Ashley took absolutely forever to take our order and bring us our food because she was too busy on her phone and as for the other waitresses the one with the long hair in a braid Heather and the one with red hair Helen they were absolutely disgusting this is not an environment you'd want to have your children in they would not stop cussing, talking bad about the customers Ashley our server was also serving an elder couple and when she was done taking their order she called the elder woman a bitch as she walked away, the waitresses kept talking about sex and orgys, talking about meth and all sorts of other very inappropriate stuff it was so disgusting I couldn't even believe my ears this cafe has a lot of potential and would be way better if it had different waitresses because the food is good but comes out cold because they take forever to bring it to you and the waitresses have such loud and disgusting mouths it is insane read more

As Lakeside locals, we strive to support local businesses. However, when those local businesses can't be bothered to provide at least the most basic level of service and food quality, it's hard for us to justify going out of our way. Such is the case with this place. We've tried several times in good faith. Every time we're met with lackluster and apathetic service. No water. No napkins. Had to ask for silverware. Mimosas with breakfast, yes please . I can't believe I've never eaten here before . I enjoyed a very good breakfast. I went with the chicken fried steak , eggs , home fries and biscuit and gravy . I like to support local places, but this place needs a whole reboot! They lack common curtesy and cleanliness. There was stuck food on the tables and chairs. You would think after Covid places would step up there cleaning habits. When we checked in on a Sunday morning and there were only about 5 tables with customers. The waitress took our drink orders. While we waited for our order a couple came in and was seated outside and about 20 minutes later they were served. Then I asked the hostess about our meals and she said would check with the waitress. After 15 more minutes I told the waitress to cancel our order and charge me for the drinks. She attempted to go check on our order and I told absolutely not. This restaurant use to be so much better!!! Have not been in awhile but tonight was a complete waste of money and time. I ordered 2 salads to go mine was a grilled chicken salad $15. The container was only filled half way up barely any lettuce at all !! And a tiny amount of dressing maybe 2 tablespoons. The salads use to be really good and they gave you a lot more dressing. The bread was hard as a rock, I threw it away. Got my daughter a veggie salad. The online menu said artichoke hearts, no artichoke hearts. When I called they said it wasn't on their menu. I got brown nasty lettuce, 2 slices of tomato 4 slices of cucumber and red onion. Again another $15 salad . 06/20 Had lunch. monte cristo Sandwich was good. Our waitress with an army green shirt was a little slow and never Came to offer us more refills. I finally flagged down another blondish gal. We took home A cinnamon roll. It was either microwaved Or something wrong with it. It took 2 steak knives to Cut it and the bottom was like A rock. Totally unedible. The food was absolutely terrible i got a waffle with a side of hashbrowns and my partner got pancakes. First we requested chocolate chips in the pancakes and it was only until right before they came out they told us they did not have chocolate chips and could substitute with chocolate syrup instead. At this point we were both so hungry we did not want to waste anymore time having to wait for something else to be made so we agreed. Worst mistake!!!!! The chocolate syrup tasted old and had a bitter taste, the waffle was hard and dry with absolutely no taste eggo waffles have a better taste than these. The only bearable thing to eat was the hashbrowns and those were even a struggle to get down. The water was definitely tap and matched the food with the horrible taste.
