It's a lovely and relaxing location. We've been coming here for years. We understand it's under new ownership. We went and the inside was empty, with just a few tables occupied outside. We waited an hour for breakfast. Sadly the sausage and bacon was the pre cooked kind. Table next to us dropped the F bomb loud and proud the whole Time we were there and they talked about the waitress when she'd leave. Not very nice. Hopefully this gets worked out. Ugh. read more

This place is incredible, and I'm picky when it comes to breakfast foods. They were understaffed but Debi (the only one working) absolutely killed it. She was quick/efficient/ and still very friendly. I got a mimosa that was perfect ratio of champagne to orange juice. I got the hollandaise omelet and it was delicious with an ample amount of sausage, crab, and asparagus served with crispy hash browns. Heard a bunch of ads on the radio about this place, so we thought we'd stop by for a late breakfast/early lunch today. A little tricky to find, but we ultimately made it down the road and parked outside the upper dining room, which is apparently open only on weekends. I am currently having some mobility issues, so the stairs down to the lower level were a little daunting, but my wife found someone who could take me down in the service elevator, which was very unexpected and much appreciated. The outdoor area on the lower level was extremely pleasant, and our server Debi was very nice, friendly, and attentive without hovering. I had the All Hands on Deck breakfast with biscuits and gravy, has browns, sausage patties and two eggs. My wife had the Club Sandwich with potato salad. A couple of iced teas as beverages. First things first: the portions were enormous. If I used the word ginormous, which I don't, I would say they were ginormous. Unfortunately, my wife's camera went wonky on her so the photos she took didn't turn out. Trust me, they were very generous. Second, they were pretty delicious, although my eggs over medium were a bit overdone. The sausage gravy needed way more pepper, but was more than acceptable. The sausage patties were kind of bland. My wife's club sandwich was a real work of art, stacked high with bacon, tomato, lettuce and cheese. The potato salad was good, but my Mom made the best potato salad in the world, so I'm kind of a jerk about that. She has a pretty good appetite, especially when she skips breakfast, but she had no chance at finishing it, so we have something else to add to our hodge-podge dinner this evening. All in all, nice location, nice people, good if not great food served in more than generous portions. 3 1/2 stars, and we look forward to trying the weekend breakfast buffet. read more

The cafe is at the marina and so right on the water. We sat outside next to the water and it was lovely. I have ordered off the menu a few times and always found the food very good. This morning we decided to try the Sunday brunch. I would not recommend it at all. The selection wasn't great. The only eggs were scrambled and were very dry. Also the gravy had so much pepper no one could eat it. The French toast sticks seemed like leftovers and it was all cold. If you go there stick to ordering off the menu. read more

The food is actually pretty good but must admit that the reviews regarding poor service are absolutely valid. I had to remind wait staff about my bloody mary order after I waited about 15 minutes and noticed that party at adjoining table though seated after us all got their drink order. It also took a really long time just for someone to come by to take our food order. The place just seemed short staffed - only saw two ladies servicing restaurant and it was quite busy. My husband ordered the bacon omelette. I wasn't very hungry and just ordered some sides - one egg, biscuit and side of avocado ($2 each). The avocado side was literally one small sliver! Last stop on the way out of town and picked LakeSide Cafe because of the location on the water. Beautiful view and loved the live music. Unfortunately, it took over 15 minutes for a waiter to come up to us and take our food order. Waited over an hour for our meal (an omelette and a breakfast burrito) but all we got was the waiter coming up and telling us that the order never went through and blamed the "technology". Most of the bad reviews relate to waiting for food at an extremely popular place. Why is it popular- because the food is very good. If you go during a very busy time you will wait, and the over easy eggs may be over cooked. To avoid this issue at all busy breakfast places order scrambled eggs or pancakes or French toast. The food is fair but the dock workers are not properly trained on how to assist customers. We arrived via 2 pwcs and the young man on the dock said he would tie one up while we tied the other one. He very much appeared to know what he was doing and my friends that rode over gave him the ropes. He told us to "go on" and he would finish. We came back out after breakfast and he had done a good job of tying the waverunner to the dock, but neglected to see that he had tied it directly in front of a metal bolt that was sticking way out. We were there for approximately 45 minutes. In that amount of time the bolt had completely rubbed the fiberglass down to just below the paint and caused terrible damage. When we asked to speak to his boss, the young man that came to us said that they hold no responsibility to make the repair since I "allowed" his dockboy to tie our pwc to the dock. Costly breakfast! This place lacks customer service! We seated ourselves and waited 20 minutes before we approached the waiter and asked if someone will be serving us today. Otherwise the servers would continue ignoring us. The servers are not enthusiastic or trained to provide good service or be efficient. We ordered the food and it only arrived 35 minutes later. The food was fine. The tables outside are usually occupied, and only those on the deck have nice view, the rest are next to the a/c unit where you can "enjoy" the fumes... The food was delicious however the wait and watching it sit on the bar and get cold until a manager walked by and told the server to get it on the table, it was cold by then. They were not packed, kind of a surprise because it was the shoot out. The servers seemed lost and disorganized. Several servers including ours walked right past our food and didn't seem phased. When we arrived there were hardly any other customers seated before us. The service was really horrible. The servers were very slow and acted inconvenienced by our presence. The food did not come out all at once, or they forgot part of our order. The meal seemed pricey for what we got, which included a hair on one of our fruit plates. Found this place after reading an article about the owner In St. Louis magazine. They have good signs to lead you in from the road, turn just past the strip. I also have figured out its at the 1 mile by water and they have a gas dock to park at. Went about 8:30 Friday morning and there were just a couple tables when I got their but they were filling up by the time I left. Fair amount of nice out door seating and cute info diner style seating. The cook and waitress were super nice and friendly. I ordered the award winning hollandaise omelet! It was giant and delicious! The eggs were so fluffy and cooked just right and the combo of fresh petite asparagus and crab were just right ! The hollandaise was good, though just a standard good hollandaise it really topped it off Nicely. It came with a piece of your choice of toast or biscuit I had wheat toast and hash browns. The special thing about the toast or biscuit is the cook served it with one of her five home made jams or fruit compotes which she picks if you don't specify which you would like. I by her choice got the cranberry apricot compote which I just loved! The cook told me the strawberry rhubarb is the biggest seller so next time I will ask for that. They also sell the jams in jars for I belie $5.95 so I got some to bring home ! What a nice place quick, friendly and delicious I will definitely be back! Oh ya on sat and Sunday she says they have a buffet and the regular menu. My only tiny complaint would be the coffee is nothing special, adequate but not unique, that I can certainly live with considering how much I enjoyed the food and staff. read more

We've been coming to the Lakeside Cafe for years, and have been sad to see the service decline the last few years. After today's horrible experience I can safely say we will not be back again. The service was horribly slow, and the buffet had NO food or clean plates for extended periods of time. Some in our party ordered from the menu and it took them over an hour to bring their meals. I sincerely hope their management takes a good look at this because we know several people at the lake who are saying the same thing. This used to be one of our favorites for breakfast, so I hope they can get their act together!! read more
