    The dentists name and information

This was by far the worst least professional dental experience I've ever had! I filled all of the new patience paperwork out ahead of time online, when I arrived they only had one page and still needed the rest to be filled out so I did it I get it technology doesn't always apply. Then I get to the hygienist for my cleaning and it's evident she has zero clue what's going on first she tells me they need to do an FMX ray and that it's $50 (money isn't the issue) but she tells me that it might be reimbursed by the insurance but they won't know until later, except after I started asking questions she was quickly able to verify that the last FMX was done less than 5 years ago and wouldn't be covered. At this point I'm fairly upset and I asked why I hadn't been asked for my previous dentist to get that information from them and she had the audacity to tell me that "since I was already 40 minutes into my appointment and it could take a while for the other dentists office to respond" Never once was I contacted prior about this and had they done so I could have had all previous necessary things transferred ahead of time. Mind you I was here for a cleaning today and the need for the FMXrays was not a requirement I know because quite often over the last 3 years of moving around I have gone to dentists for cleanings and it's an in and out procedure. This place is completely disorganized and is willing to waste your time

I am extremely disappointed with my experience at this dental office. From start to finish, the…read morelevel of professionalism and patient care fell far below what I expected. Communication was poor, appointments were not handled efficiently, and I felt my concerns were dismissed rather than addressed. The staff appeared disorganized to my case, and the overall experience left me feeling frustrated and undervalued as a patient. What was most concerning was the lack of transparency regarding treatment recommendations and costs. I did not feel that adequate explanations were provided, making it difficult to make informed decisions about my dental care. I originally came in for a routine cleaning about a year and a half ago with no pain, sensitivity, or concerns regarding my teeth. During the visit, I was told I had a couple of cavities that were not a major concern, but I agreed to have them treated anyway. Since that treatment, I have experienced constant pain and sensitivity that I never had before. I can no longer comfortably bite into foods as simple as chicken without pain, and drinking anything cold causes significant discomfort. What should have been a straightforward procedure has turned into a year-and-a-half-long ordeal. Over this period, I returned multiple times to report the same symptoms. Rather than seriously addressing my concerns, I was repeatedly told that the work had been performed professionally and that the discomfort would eventually go away. Days turned into weeks, weeks into months, and now more than a year later, the pain remains and has only gotten worse. The treatment was redone five separate times, yet the issue was never resolved. Despite acknowledging the ongoing problem by repeatedly redoing the work, the conversation than became that there was no need to continue and that "these things happen with age." This explanation is difficult to accept considering the pain began immediately after treatment and was never present beforehand. What has been most frustrating is feeling dismissed throughout the entire process. During my most recent visit, after more than a year of consistently reporting the same symptoms, I felt as though my concerns were not taken seriously. At one point, I was even left with the impression that the dentist questioned whether the pain I was experiencing was real. No patient seeking help for a persistent issue should be made to feel that way. I have placed a tremendous amount of trust in this healthcare provider. I trusted this office to improve my dental health, and instead I have been dealing with pain, sensitivity, repeated appointments, and unanswered concerns for over a year. I want to make it clear that this review is not directed at the dental assistants or "most" of the front desk and scheduling staff. In my experience, the majority of them were kind, professional, and genuinely seemed to care about helping patients. My concerns are specifically directed toward the individuals responsible for handling my ongoing care. Is what made this such a frustrating and uncomfortable experience.

Everyone including Dr. Sklenicka where very nice, answered all my questions and listened to my concerns during my visits. I had a consult at a different oral surgeon several months ago and just wasn't comfortable when leaving so I never went back. Consult and surgery all within a week which was very convenient for me and my work. I tend to bruise easy but had little to NO bruising on my face, some bruising with the IV(to be expected). I iced my face to help with the swelling but also had little to no swelling! Took antibiotics and Ibuprofen as directed so I truly wasn't in ANY pain just some muscle soreness. All in all, I am very very happy with my experience with this office and my results from having all 4 wisdoms teeth out. Don't be a chicken! It's a relief to have it finally done and over.

Following my consultation, I was provided with an estimate of over a thousand dollars. The office correctly charged the contracted in -network rate for the office visit and X-rays, but charged me the out of network, max price for the 2 wisdom teeth extractions. I immediately questioned the amount of the tooth extraction because my dental plan provides an approximate range of $170.00-$250.00 for this service, at 80% of covered charges. The staff member acknowledged that the estimate was likely incorrect and instructed me to speak with the front desk personnel on my way out. I proceeded with the extractions and, upon checkout, spoke with the front desk regarding the charges. I was informed that this was the rate they charged for tooth extractions, despite North Florida Oral & Facial Surgery being an in-network provider under my dental plan. When I questioned this, I was told, "This is how we charge." Therefore, it is unclear why the office applied the proper in-network pricing to part of the visit while charging me the maximum out-of-network rate for the tooth extractions performed during that same appointment. After recovering from the procedure, I contacted my dental insurance and was informed that I had been charged incorrectly. Once the claim was finalized, my dental insurance determined that the in-network contracted rate for all the services was much less than I had paid and I was owed over 800.00 in a refund for overpayment. According to my dental insurance, payment was issued on May 29, the Explanation of Benefits (EOB) was sent on May 30, and the payment check cleared on June 1. On June 10th, I participated in a telephone conversation involving my dental insurance, myself, and a representative from the oral surgeon's office. During that call, the office representative stated that someone would contact me by the end of the day regarding the EOB and the refund owed to me. I never received that call. On June 11, I contacted the office again and was told that a refund check of over 800.00 had been mailed on June 5. I was instructed to allow seven to ten days for delivery. I waited until June 24 to allow sufficient time for the check to arrive, but I still had not received it. I left a message for the billing department and then called the office and spoke with the office manager. During that conversation, she stated that the refund had been approved on June 11 and mailed on June 12, contradicting the previous information I had been provided. When I informed her that the check had still not arrived, she stated that she would contact the billing office and call me back. As of the close of business today, June 24th, I had not received any return call. It has now been twelve days since the refund check was allegedly mailed, and I still have no resolution, no refund, and no consistent explanation regarding the status of my funds. UNDER FLORIDA LAW (CS/CS/SB 1808), HEALTHCARE PRACTITIONERS AND THEIR BILLING ENTITIES ARE REQUIRED TO REFUND PATIENT OVERPAYMENTS WITHIN 30 DAYS AFTER DETERMINING THAT AN OVERPAYMENT HAS OCCURRED. PROVIDERS WHO FAIL TO TIMELY RETURN PATIENT FUNDS MAY BE SUBJECT TO PENALTIES, INCLUDING FINES OF UP TO $10,000 PER VIOLATION, DISCIPLINARY ACTION, OR LICENSE SUSPENSION BY THE FLORIDA BOARD OF DENTISTRY. (The office received the EOB on the 30th of May) Based on the facts described above, I am deeply concerned about the billing practices employed by North Florida Oral & Facial Surgery. At a minimum, the conduct appears deceptive, evasive, and inconsistent with the obligations of an in-network provider. I WOULD NEVER RECOMMEND THIS PRACTICE TO ANYONE!

I conducted the same examination of several practices offering "new teeth in one day". I WAS SHOCKED TO DISCOVER that the other practices do NOT tell you the whole story about what is waiting for you once you are "in the chair". If you have the expectation that you are going to walk out of the office in 24 hours with a set of comfortable lifelong teeth, you are in for a very very large dose of reality. Just think about what's happening in your mouth. In most cases, you are having extractions. Extractions mean swelling. Swelling is not your normal mouth shape or configuration; and yet, you are being measured and fitted for the configuration that your mouth will be in after the swelling subsides. This is something like buying clothes when you weigh 300 and expecting them to fit after you lose 150 pounds. Obviously, it is the key to long-term discomfort and dissatisfaction. There is of course the other end of the spectrum that can take up to a year to finally walk out of the office with a new set of teeth that do in fact fit properly; but frankly, I didn't have that kind of time. I chose to go with JAX IMPLANTS because they offered a more than satisfactory middle-ground plan. In fact, I did have usable teeth within the first 24 hours with a special caveat. They were a set of "temporary" teeth that were functional to the degree that I could eat foods that I enjoyed within certain texture limits. As the healing progressed, new "temporary" teeth replaced the previous set and slight modifications were introduced to try new options to improve function and fit. After 4 months of healing and adjustments to the temporary teeth, the final teeth fit and function perfectly. In total, I had 3 sets of temporary teeth before settling on my FINAL teeth. The final teeth exceed my expectations. I cannot even begin to express my thanks to the doctors and staff of Jax Implants for how happy I am with MY NEW TEETH.
