Sitting in the ER at 4:30 in the morning because of extremely bad pain after a tooth extraction just to get sometbing for the pain is really unfortunate. if I'm taking 600 mg of ibuprofen and one Tylenol every 4-5 hours and it ain't working. You should be able to do more for the pain. That's what pain killers are for. I should not have to go through all this just to get a little bit of comfort. I don't know what's going on but pain killers are for people that are in pain. That's why they are made. Just because some people decide to kill themselves by being stupid with drugs that they aren't supposed to take doesn't mean I should being going through all this. Let the people that need what they need get what they need. I don't get to just rest at home for days after an extraction I have a job to do I can't just take off, so going through a job all day long in extreme amount of discomfort and pain is completely unnecessary!!( UPDATE 6:30am) at the hospital doctor comes in. I tell him my dentist won't write me another prescription because it's illegal to write me another one. He looks at me with the most confused look and said that's absolutely false they definitely can write you a prescription... so who the hell am I actually supposed to believe. This is crazy read more

this place was recommended to me by a friend of mine. My first visit after some confusion on my appointment was a good experience. Six months later I'm back in for a cleaning and was told I had a cracked tooth and needed a crown. They assured me that this crown would be covered 100% from my insurance. I've never had a crown before the temporary crown fell off four times and when I went back to get the permanent crown it was banging on my bottom tooth. However because I guess they wanted to get out of the office early they sent me out with us still banging on my tooth and then told me I owe them money. Now I have a new statement for $510 for something that wasn't supposed to cost me anything and a crown that's banging on my bottom tooth.What started out as a pleasurable experience is turning into a bit of a nightmare and a financial problem. I live on Social Security and here I known this was gonna cost me this much money, this tooth would have been pulled. never another crown, filling, surgery at this place. read more

Great first impression! Clean waiting area, super nice receptionist! Now to the real visit...I was lead to the hygienist area/exam room and was made to feel very comfortable . I had a broken porcelain crown, but was reassured by the dentist that she" believed me" in case the crown wasn't removable... It popped off first try! Ummm , what were you saying, doc? I was in dentistry for over 11 years, but never tell these guys this. I want to see who provides the honest, best, most cost efficient care. Had the worst appointment today. I've been coming here since it was Cavka Dental. There has been 3 turnovers with providers and multiple staff changes with hygienists. No big deal, it happens! The last straw was the hygienist I had. I've never had issues or ever experienced discomfort getting my routine cleaning but this was by far the worst. So rough, odd order of cleaning. I don't even think it was similar to what a normal routine cleaning would be. I'm never the type to be nasty in person so unfortunately I result to writing this review. Please avoid scheduling with Sheila (if i recall her name) or just save yourself the hassle of establishing. I do not wish for anyone else to experience that! Please do not go here. I had an appointment this morning, and when I asked to call my Insurance provider to question the requirement for a SSN, they came outside and told me to leave and handed me my paperwork. This is how they treat a new patient. I want to note that my insurance confirmed that the SSN is required for electronic claim submittal, and had they let me finish my call, I would have came back in and provided the SSN and we all could have moved on, but to just deny a new patient for asking about personal information that is required, I think is bad business. Keep in mind, I have a cracked tooth that I needed to get looked at and now I have to find another dentist. read more

The billing and insurance service is awful! Don't come here if you're military or have federal dental insurance, because they don't know how to submit correctly. This was by far the worst least professional dental experience I've ever had! I filled all of the new patience paperwork out ahead of time online, when I arrived they only had one page and still needed the rest to be filled out so I did it I get it technology doesn't always apply. Then I get to the hygienist for my cleaning and it's evident she has zero clue what's going on first she tells me they need to do an FMX ray and that it's $50 (money isn't the issue) but she tells me that it might be reimbursed by the insurance but they won't know until later, except after I started asking questions she was quickly able to verify that the last FMX was done less than 5 years ago and wouldn't be covered. At this point I'm fairly upset and I asked why I hadn't been asked for my previous dentist to get that information from them and she had the audacity to tell me that "since I was already 40 minutes into my appointment and it could take a while for the other dentists office to respond" Never once was I contacted prior about this and had they done so I could have had all previous necessary things transferred ahead of time. Mind you I was here for a cleaning today and the need for the FMXrays was not a requirement I know because quite often over the last 3 years of moving around I have gone to dentists for cleanings and it's an in and out procedure. Event occurred on 5/23/2023 at Lakeside Dental Center Been going to this office for about a year now. My experience today was not pleasant. I had an appointment with them at 4:30pm for my permanent crown. Left work at 3:45pm. From the building to the parking garage, took me 15 minutes. I was walking extra slow due to my broken knee plus extra 5 minutes to get in to my car. My knee was hurting getting into the car that's why I needed to take extra precaution. I had a knee brace that need to loosen so that I can get to my car and drive. Finally I'm all set, plot the address in the GPS and ETA was 4:38pm. It's now 4:05pm. I called the office and gave them a heads up that I may be late by less than 10 minutes due to my situation (injured, have knee pain, can't move fast due to injury). I was already driving when I called them. The staff said that she needs to ask Dr. Awbree O'Quinn. I pleaded, "please do not reschedule my appointment, because I am already on my way to your office and please consider my situation." Staff said that's why she needs to ask Dr. Awbree O'Quinn and put me on hold. I said ok. I was on hold probably about 2 mins. When the staff came back to the phone, she said, I have to be there by 4:30pm because they close at 5pm. I said I will try to be there by 4:30pm. They did not even consider my situation. I checked in to the clinic at 4:36pm. I was 6 minutes late. Again, I explained my situation to the receptionist but they still denied me because I didn't make it there at 4:30pm and I was 6 minutes late. While I was trying to talk and explain, one staff (not sure if she is the Office Manager) told me again that I was late and they can't do my procedure. I was also told that the time that was allotted to me was only 30 minutes that's is why I needed to be there by 4:30pm and they will be closed at 5pm. I asked them, why did they schedule me for 30 minutes only. Then I asked when is the next available schedule for me. They gave me a slot 2 weeks out. But I asked for sooner and gave me a week from now. I left their office with a heavy heart and disappointment with everyone in the clinic, Dr. Awbree O'Quinn and the staff. Dissatisfied with how they handle their patient. I'm not comfortable with how they treated me. I don't even want to go back to Lakeside Dental Center. I am hesitant to recommend this clinic to others. Poor patient care. By the way, make sure to check your payments and claim from your insurance company, they over charged!!! read more

I am a regular patient of Dr. Cavka ever since I moved to Jax. Meaning she was my first dentist in this area and I have never regretted that decision. Place is not that difficult to find the first time. Just depends if you're already residing here for a while or a newbie like myself. I make appointments via phone and it's fast and convenient. It's also very easy to reschedule if you have to. Place is clean, neat and organized. Decent sized waiting room area for patients. They offer water and coffee as well. Staff at the reception area (for the most part) are very courteous and friendly. The hygienists are very professional, very friendly and nice as well. They will make sure you are comfortable, at ease, will tell you steps they are doing or about to do so you'd be aware of what's going on. They will answer your questions when they can and if not, they will sure mention it to Dr. Cavka. Dr. Cavka is very friendly and professional. She will answer your questions and give suggestions and recommendations when needed. This place is not pushy in terms of services offered to patients. I used to live nearby when I first started going to see Dr. Cavka and her staff. I have since moved, but still make the drive because she is worth it. She is friendly, the office is very clean and beautiful, her staff is amazing, and best of all...I feel her dental work has been solid and I trust her. She doesn't do unnecessary fillings, she is FAST when a filling is necessary (she was done in under 10 minutes) and she caught an infection and poorly fitting crown I had, and I have since had it fixed. They set up my next appointment before I leave each time so I like having that on the books (I would forget otherwise as life gets busy). My husband is a patient as well; we definitely would recommend this office to anyone. read more

Let me start out by staying that I hate....no wait... I loathe going to the dentist. However. Dr. Cavka and her staff were amazing!! Everyone was so nice and professional in this dental office. I hate the sound of drills especially around my sensitive teeth so I was petrified by the time the dental hygienist came in to perform my cleaning. The dental hygienist (I think her name is Riley) was the best dental hygienist ever! As she moved the instruments around my mouth, she explained everything she was doing to my teeth and put me at ease. She did a spectacular job. They will quote you a price then change it several times throughout the process after the work is done and constantly call you to collect more money. I've never had so many calls from a medical practitioner in my life. Great dentists are a commodity. It was very easy to make an appointment, and they were able to get me in the following week (the first dentist I called couldn't take me for 6 months- absurd!). After making the appointment, I was emailed a link to complete all of my new patient forms online, which I found to be super convenient. I also received text reminders leading up to my appointment. The office was clean and nicely decorated, and everyone that I spoke with was very friendly and professional. Finally found a winning dentist in Jacksonville! I won't be going anywhere else. If you don't love going to the dentist, I don't know how much this review will help you. I always look at the entire experience, from first phone call to entire visit. My first call went great. The receptionist was really friendly and truly sounded like she knew how to do her job. I was able to get an apt for just 2 days later for my cleaning, I couldn't be happier. The office is super clean and decorated beautiful. I arrived about 10 minutes early to my appointment while there were 3 other people in the waiting room I was clearly thinking "Great, I have plans for the rest of the day but looks like I'll be here awhile". I judged way too soon, as although their we're patients waiting I was called in by my appointment time. The x-rays and cleaning took about 20 minutes and Dr. Cavka came for the exam. She told me it all looked good! I've never had a cavity until a dentist down the road told me I had 8 (I won't be going back there, obviously). I'm so happy I found the Cavka Dental center. I am still new to the area and don't know many people so I had to rely on Yelp to find a dentist. I saw many positive reviews so I decided to give Cavka Dental a try and I'm really glad I did. The dental hygienist Riley was awesome. I haven't been to the dentist in almost 7 years and she never made me feel ashamed of my teeth. She was also really gentle with my teeth during the cleaning which was great because the last time I had my teeth cleaned it was the most painful experience ever! Dr. Cavka has some really nice high tech equipment and for the first time I was able to really see what was going on with my teeth. They explained what I needed to do and went over my treatment plan in detail. I never felt like they were trying to up sell me on anything. The lobby and private treatment rooms were very clean and nice. I HIGHLY recommend Cavka dental center!!! I'm not a fan of the dentist.. most people aren't. Matter of fact, the first time I visited, I was literally shaking out of anxiety. As soon as I walked in though, I felt welcomed. They could tell it had been awhile & that I was nervous. They took the extra time to walk me through every step, and give me suggestions on improving my overall oral health. The office's behavior is unprofessional. My college-aged son was a patient and we encountered some billing issues. It took a few months to resolve, but eventually, we got it straightened out. The thing that bothered me was when they sent me a text to have my son call about an upcoming appointment, and to discuss a matter regarding his father. I also got a voicemail message. As it turns out, his father posted a negative review on here about the billing fiasco, and the dentist wanted him to take it down. I don't know much about how Yelp functions, but I do know that my ex's review was far tamer than the distaste he expressed to me. It was not his review but the dentist's response that I found grossly unprofessional. Mistakes happen, and I don't know a single person who is free of them. A reasonable person looks at reviews and understands that it is entirely possible 1 person out of 10 had a bad experience. One review doesn't break a business. However, the way a professional responds to a negative review is far more telling of the business. I understand the need to defend, but it can go overboard. I caution anyone dealing with this office because of that. If you need further evidence, take a look at the one bad review and the response. read more

After this morning I will be looking for a new dentist. I had an appointment to redo a crown (which was not medically necessary the doctor just thought it needed to be done) when I got to the office I was told I had to pay $425 which I indicated I was not prepared to pay. I was then told to reschedule this appointment I would have to pay first before they could reschedule. Because I did not know about the payment and was prepared to pay it at that time they count that as a cancellation Their policy is it counts as a cancellation.and payment in full would be required before the appointment could be rescheduled.I was also told that the doctors time is very valuable with the insinuation that mine is not. My initial appointment was rescheduled and not canceled because I had the flu. Had I have known of this policy I would have just gone in and shared the flu with everyone. read more
