We have a second home out in Connecticut and passed it as we drove by. My daughter mentioned it was in the movie "College Road-Trip" with Raven Symone and Martin Lawrence. It's a cute place! Very family oriented as it was packed with children. Their donut is something they're widely known for and was highly recommended. They're baked on site and were so fresh! Space is tight- so if privacy and distance while in public is a must for you- this isn't your place. It has a very classic diner feel and decor. The waitstaff were attentive and friendly and the food was good. It was packed and there was a wait to be seated. Will return and this time we'll bring our littles

Terrible service -- truly awful. The food was fine, but the service completely ruined the experience. I would not recommend this place.

A VIP client (a CELEBRITY) chose this restaurant for a business meeting yesterday, so I arrived expecting a professional and welcoming environment. When I walked in, the place was packed--which I initially took as a good sign. Busy usually means good food and good service. I was seated at a small two-top in the back blocking the counter seating, which was already tight for a meeting with paperwork. As the lunch crowd began to clear out, the table next to me opened up. I started to move my materials to give us a bit more space for the meeting. At that point, a waitress approached me in a very abrupt and unpleasant tone and said, "Where do you think you're going?" I explained that the table had just become available and that I needed the space for a business meeting. She immediately shut me down, saying, "No, you're not. That's a four-person table and you're only two." It was around 2:00 p.m., the restaurant was already emptying out, and they close at 3:00 p.m., so the response felt unnecessary and frankly rude. I told her she didn't need to be so nasty--I had no idea there were strict rules about not moving to an empty table in a nearly empty restaurant. I stayed where I was because the only other available tables were even more cramped for 2 people, and at least I had space to set my pocketbook and paperwork on a stool next to me instead of the floor. Unfortunately, the experience got worse. When my client arrived, 215pm, we were largely ignored for service even though the restaurant was nearly empty at that point. Food was basic. My takeaway: unless you enjoy being packed into tight seating, dealing with extremely unprofessional and unfriendly staff, struggling to get service, I would not recommend this place. Hospitality and courtesy go a long way, and sadly both were missing here. And one final thought: in the service industry, you never know who your customers are or what opportunities kindness might bring. Do better! 65+ MILLION FOLLOWERS on the internet!

Was leery because of stars but decided to roll the dice . Was pleasantly surprised. Service and breakfast was good . Coffee was great also . Took donuts home for the kids .

Stopped by this diner on my way from work because it's conveniently located right off exit 34 on the Merritt parkway. Lakeside diner been open since 1951; Inside has a retro aesthetic. It is by the side of Holts Ice Pond providing a nice dine in view. My job bought us their fresh homemade donuts a few times, but it's my first time walking in. I didn't realize this was cash only, so I had a to run back to my car to get some. I ordered the special with bacon, fried eggs, home fries, and French toast to go, because I knew I'd be late for work. The portion only came with two pieces of bacon. Even with the salt and pepper packets, my food was bland. The home fries were soft, almost like mashed potatoes. Both my toast and French toast was a bit soggy. I wasn't impressed with their breakfast today, I am willing to give them another try.

Friendly staff and fantastic view of a large pond from the dining area. Classic American menu. Steak hoagies, onion rings, donuts, and sandwiches look great. Don't go here for the salad which is pretty basic and overpriced (The chicken meat in the grilled chicken option was very dry and the portion was very small).

I never really understood the apparent obsession folks seem to have with diners, until now. The minute I walked into Lakeside I was transported to childhood smelling morning breakfast scents and sitting in cushioned banquettes. The atmosphere is perfect with the hustle and bustle of the counter, staff and kitchen. There are no fancy banquettes to be found here but there are as many chair+table combos as can fit in this cozy, small restaurant. The menu consists of breakfast classics like pancakes, French toast, and egg omlettes and they also have specials and specialty items like 2 types of fresh homemade doughnuts. The portion sizes were perfect for me and most of my company. If you're a big eater or a "gym-bro" bulking on protein and calories I'd recommend ordering two entrees or the steak and eggs and some sides. A lot of their menu ranges between $8 to just under $20 so you won't be breaking the bank here. Nothing fancy, but it's clean and hits the spot. Service was nice & friendly even if sometimes a bit hectic but 'twas nothing that can't be easily resolved. Swing by early in the day as they absolutely get super busy and people know it's worth the wait. The view of the lake is gorgeous and I definitely will be back! Hablan Español!

Lovely little diner with a pretty view of a little pond. Plenty of comfy breakfast and lunch choices. My "Grecian" omelet was generously stuffed with spinach and feta. Cash only!

The staff was attentive. The view of the lake was beautiful. I ordered two eggs over med with home fries and it was good.

Inside, the café is clean, inviting, and has a warm atmosphere that's perfect for grabbing a coffee or catching up with a friend. I ordered a large cold brew with vanilla syrup, and it was easily the highlight of my visit. Smooth, refreshing, and nicely balanced without being overly sweet. I would absolutely order it again. For food, I tried the Breakfast Burrito, although it's really closer to a Crunchwrap than a traditional burrito. It comes with scrambled eggs, bacon, peppers and onions, cheddar cheese, avocado mash, tater tots, and lima crema. On paper, it sounded like a home run. Unfortunately, the execution did not live up to the description. It ended up being extremely greasy, mushy, and surprisingly lacking flavor despite having so many ingredients. I kept expecting each bite to get better, but it never really did. It was one of those dishes that had a lot of potential but just missed the mark. My cold brew and breakfast came to $23.84 with tax, which felt a little expensive for a breakfast wrap and coffee. Overall, I'd definitely come back for the coffee because it was excellent. As for the food, I'd probably try something different next time. If the kitchen can match the quality of the coffee, this place could be a real standout.

After doing a little research, I came across The Wheel, and it turned out to be an excellent choice. I made a reservation for Sunday brunch. Finding the entrance was a little confusing at first, and parking took a minute to figure out, but I eventually learned you can park for free at the Village next door, which made things much easier. Once I arrived, I was immediately greeted and shown to the outdoor seating area. Walking through the restaurant, I was impressed by how beautiful the property is. It is incredibly spacious, sits right on the water, and even has an additional outdoor area next door where you can relax away from the restaurant. The views alone make this place worth visiting. Our server, Freddy, was fantastic. He was friendly, personable, and knowledgeable. He took the time to explain the menu, answer questions, and offer recommendations, which made the experience even better. Now onto the food. To start, we shared the Breakfast Pizza, topped with smoked bacon, crispy potatoes, roasted garlic, mozzarella, two eggs, and fresh cracked black pepper. It was a fun twist on brunch and had great flavor. We also ordered the Shrimp and Grits, made with cheddar grits, wild caught shrimp, a poached egg, and chimichurri. Rich, creamy, and packed with flavor. The Crispy Chicken Sandwich looked outstanding. Made with organic Murray's chicken, hot honey, coleslaw, and dill pickles, it came with fries and disappeared quickly. For my entrée, I ordered the Steak and Eggs, featuring grilled hanger steak, two eggs, breakfast potatoes, and chimichurri. The steak had excellent flavor, although I ordered it medium and it came out closer to well done. It was my only real issue with the meal. We also tried a couple of cocktails. The Orange Crush was refreshing and perfect for brunch, while the bourbon, Aperol, peach, Earl Grey, and lemon cocktail was smooth, balanced, and equally enjoyable. Dessert was the perfect ending. The Take 5 Sundae with peanut butter crunch, pretzels, whipped cream, vanilla bean caramel, chocolate ice cream, and hot fudge was absolutely delicious. We also had the Tres Leches, topped with strawberries and vanilla whipped cream, which was light, moist, and a great way to finish the meal. Overall, everything we ordered was delicious. Aside from the slightly confusing entrance, parking, and my overcooked steak, the entire experience was outstanding. The waterfront setting, excellent service, beautiful atmosphere, and quality food make this one of the best brunch spots in Stamford. I will definitely be back. Next time I already have my eye on the Banana Buttermilk Bread, Village Breakfast, Braised Short Rib Hash, Wheel House Burger, Margherita Pizza, Smoked Salmon Pizza, and the Crispy Chicken Sandwich for myself. For drinks, I want to try the Charred Citrus, One in a Melon, and the Orange Crush. And I definitely need to save room for the Vanilla Bean Cheesecake.

Favorite dish selections per voting of the table, were the brussel sprouts (~$20), calamari (~$20), and NY strip (~$50) specifically because of the tallow fried rice that laid underneath the steak! Although we enjoyed the quality and quantity of food, the service was quite slow. Our waitstaff didn't come by very often to take drink orders, refill water glasses, or follow up. It didn't seem too busy that evening, so we were a bit surprised. We stayed in the dining room on this trip, but hope to come back for a nice evening when the outside patio area is available.
