Finally had a chance to visit here to pick up some of their donuts. Amazing! They lived up to everything I had read. They only have plain or sugared, and I got a half dozen sugared. To be fair, only four of them made it home. Utterly delicious. The inside looks quaint and I can't wait to come back for breakfast. Had a wonderful breakfast at Lakeside. Great portions for a great price but most importantly great classic diner food. I got eggs florentine-- perfectly poached eggs and tasty hollandaise sauce. The home fries are also really flavorful and crispy on the outside while soft on the inside. My friend got chocolate chip pancakes and like my meal they came out hot, fast, and delicious. CASH only place (but there isn't a sign in the door, the server won't tell you when your seated but you will see a small sign above the cash register if you look up to the ceiling). There is a Bank of America atm near by, hopefully you have a atm card and don't just carry credit cards. Food -breakfast-was good (not great) and price was mid range for breakfast. Cost was $27 for two people. Coffee (pass). They were combining pots off coffee that had been sitting on burner for a while and it didn't even smell good. Juice selection minimal. Service was non existent unless your a regular. One worker was so busy she just did dishes and warmed up muffin orders. Another (manager or owner) is was chatty with regulars but no one else and she was even rude when speaking about her staff. Someone called ahead about an allergy and when the sever go my to the table she was confused. The guest asked the mgr/owner for help and she said yea "she doesn't know anything ". Service went like this... sat down, given menus, order taken, food delivered and nothing more! No checking on us, no check to pay, no smiles nothing. One server (not ours) after us looking done and ready to go for some time was nice enough to ask if we were ok. I think the reason this dinner shows up via google is that a movie was taped there. I had lunch here after coming here several times for breakfast. There were 3 of us and 2 had chicken salad and1 had egg salad. All the sandwiches were fresh (bread and salads) and nicely stuffed. We also had a few donuts but no fries or sides. Service was quick and efficient . I'm glad I switched thing up and tried lunch here! They close at 3:00 and don't accept credit cards so arrive early and with cash! The view of the lake and local charm and friendliness add to the spot - in fact they characterized it. After hearing about this place from several people, all of them saying how good the donuts were, it was time to check this place out. Unfortunately, by time we arrived they were out of donuts, and there would be no more. I ordered the Lakeside Special, which came with 2 eggs (I went with over medium), french toast, home fries, toast, and your choice of bacon or sausage. I thought it was very good, and reasonably priced (this was $8.95) I wish I would have done a bit more research though, because it turns out this place is cash only. There was no obvious sign inside that I could see that stated this, but was informed by the server that it was cash or check only, and that there was an ATM at the bank next door. I mean really, it's 2019 and you're located in a city. Why can't we accept cards...? Square/Clover/etc make it super easy for any business to accept cards. Luckily we had some cash with us. Overall, I was pleased. The food was good. And everyone keeps talking about the donuts so I'll have to visit earlier in the day next time. read more

I really do love Lakeside Diner. Its a great setting with OK food and nice service. Donuts are great. Its unique and worth the occasional visit. However, recently I have noticed some issues with the pricing. I just ordered a large stake of chocolate pancakes, a small stack of blueberry pancakes and one side of bacon. I was charged $27 which seems like a bunch for what it is. I also don't love all of the waitresses some of which have limited English skill sets and don't seem to care that much about service. Told me that they don't have chocolate pancakes, so I choose Blueberry then came back to me and said they do have Nutella and do I want that? Seems like they would have offered the Nutella substitute up front. During odd hours, they aren't very responsive to me at a table, just playing on their phones. They used to have an older waitress who was in charge and a younger one who was her chief. They ran the place much better. read more

Where can I begin? First, I didn't know they accepted cash only. Secondly, they had a table right next to the window, but we were told it was only for parties of three or more (I do understand that). Donuts, and service is as amazing as always. The wonderful Spanish ladies are so attentive and sweet. However, the price for the food is so overpriced in my opinion.
