Needed some rough cut lumber to finish a project. I call to get my order in the system on Monday. Sales was to call me back. Tried calling back towards days end, but put on hold for a long time before it timed out and hung up on me. Called Tuesday but no answer. I drove to Lakeside. Had to order the wood and said would in on Friday. Called Friday but not in. They will call me. No call. Closed Saturday and Sunday. Drove to lakeside Monday and asked about the order. It did come in and the called. They called the wrong number. My order had my correct number. Got my order on Monday one week first trying to get the wood on order. Also, if I Sat home waiting for a call I would not receive the wrong number call. Nor the wood. read more

Lakeside Lumber used to be golden. I get my 8" channel siding from them. That pattern has a wide and thin rabbet which is fragile. My last bundle was wrapped so tightly as to fracture a number of those rabbets and I could legitimately have discarded a third of the bundle for that reason or for quality defects. They no longer send a truck to Salem weekly, which service was free, and every order now has a delivery charge. The prepriming process does not now look like it achieves good penetration, nor is the coating uniform. Were I to continue ordering from this firm, I would order bare stock and prime it myself. read more

Lakeside Lumber is an absolute joke. Do yourself a favor and take your business elsewhere if you don't want to waste your time. We wanted the prestained fence boards. First you pick a stain color(s) and can have samples made. The entire process was an absolute mess from start to finish. We picked a couple colors for samples which take a couple days. We received these sloppy samples that left us wondering if they were thrown together last minute. We did pick a color but didn't like the brand, so the staff suggested a different brand and we eagerly waited for the sample. After 3 days we call only to be told they were waiting for the stain to come in. After a week we called back wondering where the sample is only to find out they can't even get that stain anymore, UNBELIEVEABLE, and they never called us to inform us of this. So again, they then suggested another stain but that required two coats and offered us to be charged for 1 coat for the trouble. Got sample back and liked it, go to place the order and they hit us with a price increase and also have to pay for the two coats not honoring the one coat price. By now it's been two and half weeks of this nonsense and have had to reschedule our contractor 3 times. Once again, suggested a different brand which we liked and eventually ended up ordering. On October 11th, placed order with the promise of a 1-1/2 to 2 week turnaround. They said we would get email updates but of course nothing. We had to chase them down with calls; each time was told they were still waiting on the stain. Fast forward to October 29th, we called and was told they're still waiting on the stain but will let us know. Finally, Thursday before the project, which was to start on that Monday, they called to confirm that the stain came in and the boards were done and on the truck for Tuesday delivery. Just to be sure I called Friday and then again on Monday morning before our old fence was to be removed because 3 of my neighbors have dogs and 1 has small children and it needed to be done ASAP after the fence was gone they confirmed and assured me that the fence boards would be there on Tuesday. They also told us that we wouldn't be charged until it leaves the building and would call us beforehand to confirm. Later that same day, Monday, after our entire fence was completely torn down we get call from Lakeside Lumber saying actually it won't be ready until later in the week. Are you kidding me!! By this point we had enough, we canceled the order and instead of offering any apology for the circus we just went though they said "We'll let the manager know". ABSOLUTELY PATHETIC! They also tried charging my credit card an hour prior to the phone call telling me that they wouldn't have the boards ready until later in the week. This has been the worst experience I've ever had with any company. I can't stress enough, do not waste your time here. The reason why I put up with this for so long is that our fence is shared with 4 other properties and we thought it would be easier to have it prestained instead of having to go into everyone's yard to stain after the install which we have to do now anyway. Then they have the nerve to call me 3 months later to ask if I still needed fence boards to be stained, are you freaking kidding me, but glad because it reminded me that I still needed to write this review. read more

Lakeside has been my go to lumber store for 45 years now.. From the counter guys to the stores owner they have always been there for me. There prestaining department has never failed me with there priming and stringing colors. My rep. Sean keeps me informed on prices and availability when ever I need it. This Co. Is very family oriented and has helped out many families in need. The prices and quality of there wood are as good as it gets.You may find cheaper prices but they are not the same quality or grade. For me I would never buy cedar any where else. read more

This place tried to scam me. I called for a quote on siding and talked to Joey Mcclelan. He gave me a price and I ordered 160 pieces. He said they only have 75 in stock but would deliver those and then get more to me. They were never delivered even though he took my card info and said that it went through. I called about a week later to see what happened and he said that they have all 160 boards and that they would be delivered if I just gave him my credit card information. When I asked how much he was going to run the card for it was WAY more than the price per board cost that we had already agreed to. I have emailed him several times about this issue but he will not reply. BEWARE!!!!!!! read more

Not only are they extremely knowledgeable but Daniel, one of the delivery drivers picked up all my extra material that was way down a walkway at a boat house with a super nice attitude. If they hire drivers that cut people off and then flip them off I would not buy one piece of wood from this company. Trying to switch lanes in slow moving traffic to get to the emergency vet and this yahoo from this company floored it to make sure I could not merge over to make a left and then flipped me off! You should hire better drivers because they represent your company! read more

Nice showroom but they are not friendly to the general public. They want to service contractors. You do not have the luxury of selecting your own wood. Their prices are really high too. read more
