This was a terrible experience at Lakeside Toyota. I brought my vehicle in for a diagnostic, and it sat there all day without anyone even looking at it. I was promised a call after lunch with an update--no one ever reached out. I had to chase them down myself, only to be told they "couldn't recreate the issue," so they didn't even run a diagnostic. After I pushed back, I was suddenly told the issue had actually been reproduced earlier that morning--yet no one bothered to communicate that or explain what was wrong. When I picked up my vehicle, multiple warning lights immediately came on. Then I was told it needed to stay overnight, which made no sense considering they had already wasted an entire day doing nothing. I purchased this vehicle from them in cash and also bought a warranty, which has been completely useless. I ended up diagnosing the problem myself and paying to have it fixed elsewhere--something they should have been able to handle. They had multiple chances to make this right and failed. Poor communication, no accountability, and a complete disregard for the customer's time. Avoid this place. read more

I have had long-standing terrible experiences with the service department, at many levels. However, I have also had the suspicion that they recommend unnecessary services on several prior occasions. I now have two recent confirmations of that. Both of our cars had to go in for a recall. That - a factory recall - is a reason to use a dealer, and perhaps the only reason to continue to use a dealer. Nonetheless, these times our cars went in for a recall, Lakeside did an inspection well beyond the scope of the recall, which was not anything that I expected nor requested. And both times I received a recommendation about something that they "found" that needed to be serviced. So each of these times I took ourcars, both of which are out of warranty, to a small locally owned mechanic shop that I have used with a great deal of confidence over the years. Both times, that mechanic said in essence that your cars are "tiptop" and do not require that service at this point in time. That local mechanic did not charge either time for their time nor the inspection and their assessment. They easily could have agreed that it was needed, and then done the work. But they didn't. Instead, they said what to look for or when to return when the service would in fact, be necessary. So they clearly were not trying to "churn" and just get work to do . I think that's pretty good confirmation x 2 of my suspicion. Conclusion: Potential customers of Lakeside - beware. read more

I made multiple attempts to have the issues corrected, including a final written request on April 2, 2026. No resolution has been provided. I am extremely disappointed with the customer service I received at Toyota on Lakeside. Today, with a tropical storm approaching, I stopped by during normal business hours because my tire pressure warning light was on and I wanted to make sure my tires were safe for driving. As I pulled in, I watched an employee lock the doors, making it seem as though customers were not welcome despite the dealership still being open. This experience was unfortunately consistent with my previous visit. There is a sign instructing customers to remain in their vehicles and wait for assistance, but no one came out to greet me or offer help. After waiting, I had to get out of my car and go inside myself to ask for assistance. When I approached an employee, I was greeted with, "What do you want?" in a rude and dismissive tone. After politely explaining that I needed my tires checked and filled because of the tire pressure warning light, I was simply pointed in a direction and told someone would help me before being sent back to my vehicle. At every step, I felt like an inconvenience rather than a customer. I was respectful, patient, and simply seeking a basic service, yet I was met with poor communication, lack of professionalism, and an overall unwelcoming attitude. I wait three hours and call the service desk to ask how much longer and they tell me they don't have the recall technician that's out today but I scheduled my appointment weeks ago. My intention was to purchase a vehicle, but the interaction I had with your Sales Manager, Jeffrey Lissarrague, was deeply disrespectful to both my family and your own frontline staff. During our price negotiations--a standard and expected part of the car-buying process--Mr. Lissarrague became dismissive and insulting. When we attempted to negotiate, he explicitly told us that if we wanted "cheap prices" and not "Toyota premium products," we should leave and go to Chevy or GMC instead. Suggesting that potential customers take their business to competitors simply for asking about pricing is an astonishing way to represent the Toyota brand. Furthermore, I was incredibly uncomfortable witnessing the way Mr. Lissarrague treated our salesperson. He spoke down to the sales representative, openly treating them as if they were stupid. This public belittling of an employee was entirely uncalled for, created an incredibly hostile environment, and was deeply uncomfortable to watch as a consumer. I brought my vehicle in for standard service for what I thought was convenience (I usually go to Toyota of Kenner), which included a tire rotation and an oil change. When I got home I discovered that the tire rotation hadn't been done (front left tire had a distinguishing mark on it, and its position had not changed post service). When I called to find out what happened, nobody called me back. Now I'm trying to change my oil and discovered that some idiot used a pneumatic wrench on the oil plug and I can't get it off. Went in to buy a truck that they called me out of another dealer because they said that they could beat it. They took my 500 deposit and after a few weeks I asked for a VIN to discover that the truck doesn't even exist after they strung me along that the truck is coming. Then they tell me that they could do another truck on their lot for the same price and now they can even match the price they told me that they could do on the other truck. I informed the salesperson that I would be using a preapproved auto loan from my credit union. Despite presenting the check, I was told I needed to sign a document authorizing the dealership to run my credit. I was told this document was a contingency in case the vehicle I intended to purchase exceeded the amount of my approved loan. I explicitly requested that my credit not be run and was assured it would only be done if the vehicle's cost exceeded the loan amount. I completed the purchase, including all fees, using the preapproved loan. Nevertheless, a hard inquiry from Lakeside Toyota appeared on my credit report, dated the same day I purchased the vehicle. I am very disappointed that I was misled into believing I had to sign this document to proceed with the purchase. Made appointment the week before. Got there on time and the guy who checked me in was mad that I had been told while making the appointment to fix the recall that I'd get a free rental if they could see it would take a while. After sitting for 3 hours with zero updates I went and asked how long it would be. Cashier checked and said it had not been looked at. Then about 10 minutes later while I was waiting to speak to a so called manager it was suddenly done. If they hadn't left oily fingerprints in car, I would be thinking they did nothing. They threw the new employee who scheduled the appointment under the bus. That she (who had a corporate trainer) scheduled me. That everything was her fault. No, whoever doesn't check the schedule is at fault not a new employee. Only go to this location if you want to wait hours for work that takes 10-15 minutes. Oh and while I was waiting one of the employees had time to chat with a customer who was waiting for at least an hour. She was to polite to tell him to leave her alone. Maybe if he worked more and socialized less more would get done faster there. read more

I have used Lakeside in the past because I assumed they would be reliable. They are not. I had to take my Prius to another dealership for an oil change because I was out of town. Lakeside had torqued the filter on so tight the other dealership couldn't get it off. They said it they used any stronger force they would crack the filter housing gasket. I told them to try and sure enough, the filter housing cracked and had to be replaced. They cost me an unnecessary $183 because they over torqued the oil filter. In addition they never recommended 100k transmission and two cooling system maintenance so that was 35000 miles past due. The new dealership was much more on top of things. So not trust Lakeside. My sons Toyota Prius broke down in New Orleans while traveling through from Alabama. I had it towed to Lakeside. They looked at the vehicle and said they would have to get the "Hybrid Tech". I waited until Monday only to be questioned about the salvage title. They said the computer would not work to tell them what was wrong and whatever it was would be exspensive. I told them I would have the car picked up and brought back to Tuscaloosa where I knew my repair shop here would not try and rip me off. My man who picked up the vehicle could get no assistance from anyone to help load it. It turned out to be just an exposed wire that had gotten wet in the rain. The wire was repaired for a minimal charge. Let's hope their is someone in the Crescent City that is better than Lakeside. I would give Lakeside no stars but Yelp does not have that option. read more

I made an appointment online for an oil and filter change, a four wheel alignment and for someone to figure out why my steering wheel violently shakes when on the highway. I arrived and checked in and on the spot they said the reason why my steering wheel shakes is because all my tires have worn down unevenly, but they tried to point it out to me and it looked like an even wear to me. They said they will not do the 4 wheel alignment and just change my oil and filter and it will be "quick" so I could sit down. I waited 2 and a half hours for an oil and filter change.... I talked to someone on the phone about it and he said it was unusual that I waited that long and they should have done the tasks I ordered. I bought my car here six months ago and I got mailed the title YESTERDAY. I've not been able to connect to the Toyota app because it's still registered to the dealership, and after repeated calls and an offer to not write this review if they fixed the issue, I still never received a solution. They also try to play hard ball with the pricing and say they can't go any lower, then when I got up to leave but just came back to use the restroom they lowered the price by hundreds of dollars. When I came the next day to pick up the car, they gave me a key with no remote and said they would not give any discount on a new one and would charge the full $300 after I bought an $18k car. I'm not positive, but I think they also took out the floor mats the day before I came to pick up the car. Would leave negative stars if I could. This dealership is full of greasy salespeople. They don't have the customers best interests at heart. They take the keys to your car that would be traded in to make you feel hostage. If you buy a used car from them, there's a good chance there's issues with it. Service Center I came in for tires after busting one of mine on a nasty New Orleans street corner. The entrance was a bit confusing (the lane facing north towards the lake is where you're supposed to enter, and an opposite facing lane is where they bring your car after you're done). Once I got turned around and got some service though, it all went according to par. The wait time I was quoted was an hour to 1:20, and at the end of that time, they produced my car ready to go. Seemed a bit long to change a tire, but the quote was accurate, and the price was standard. The waiting area had a device charging station and reasonably functional wifi, and had the weather been better it was a nice location where one could have killed a little time by walking to the lakeshore. It's also convenient from a driving perspective being near the causeway and thus reachable from most of the settled greater New Orleans area. All in all, they fixed my problem and I don't have any real complaints. I can hope it won't be too bad the next time I need regular service. read more

My husband and I needed to trade-in our vehicle for a mid-sized truck. We found a pre-owned Tacoma online and we went to test drive it. Our salesman, Leonard, was very helpful. We negotiated a price for our trade on car and he and the sales manager were accommodating to our requests. When it came to finance we were not happy with the interest rate that Lakeside found for us. We asked if we could hold off and check with our credit union for a better interest rate. The finance manager was honest and said we could likely get a lower rate with a credit union. He held the vehicle overnight while we were approved for a loan through our credit union and had all paperwork ready when it was time to pick up the vehicle. We signed a couple of papers, got the temp tag and key in less than 10 minutes. When we had a question about our key fob after leaving, Leonard promptly answered our text and helped us solve our key fob issues.
