I took the service on 11/20/2020, and Today 05/23/2022, I have received a SURPRISE pending bill I owe them. Seriously!!! After 2 years????? I was the patient of dr. Phillips, but dr. Moon took me, and she told me something was wrong with my right eye. In the last 2 years, I have done my annual checkup with the other doctors and nothing came wrong. My eyes are perfect. HORRIBLE SERVICE AND SURPRISINGLY LATE BILLS... NOTTTTTTT RECOMMENDED!!!!!!!!!!!!! What if I have been moved from this address?? They just sent a piece of paper. The receptionist hung up on me and said talk to your insurance. My insurance told me we have already paid them on 12/07/2020. Please, people, if you don't like surprises from doctors, then AVOID THEM... They are robbers who rob you in the daylight.....Rip off!!!!! ***Surprise billing alert*** I came in for scheduled check up today. I was informed of an unpaid balance from last year for $130.00.Last Year when I made appointment and visited, I was very careful to request just a basic eye exam (100% insurance covered) and nothing else. Dr. Deborah Moon insisted that she use a machine to examine my eyes that was not part of the basic eye exam I had requested. She told me there was normally a charge to this, and told the assistant to not bill me for it. I got billed anyway. Dr Phillips is wonderful! He thoroughly explains everything he sees as he examines your eyes and patiently answers any and all questions. He even explained just what all the knobs are and how all the lenses work on the big Phoropter (had to look up the name) in the exam room. Being new to the area I researched many optometrist & thought I had made a good choice for my husband and I, boy was I wrong ! The receptionist & back of the house staff was very dry & unwelcoming. Dr. Moon was very out of it with afternoon tiredness/stabilizer, I feel it was a complete waist of money. I was very unsatisfied in the level of eye care I received. My questions weren't answered at all! Mine and his appointments were back in Oct/Nov. I typically don't post reviews, especially bad ones as I know they are often exaggerated but I have continued to have issues with my glasses. The script isn't right for me and I spend over a grand on designer glasses/sunglass frames, I have nearly lost the lenses out of my sunglasses multiple times, but because I felt so uncomfortable I don't even want to bother with going back in. Went there for many years -- 4 people in our family. Never again will any of us set foot in the store. Tired of them telling us that everyone else who sells glasses that are not from their stores are crap with cheap lenses. Warby Parker contacted them for a prescription transfer and they never responded for weeks. They never called me. Nothing. My wife called to ask to transfer the prescription, they refused and said I had to call. I called they said they had no record of talking to my wife, Warby Parker, etc. Warby Parker had it in their system with the date and time of the call and who they talked to. I emailed Lakeside the info. I called 2 days later and they said they never received it. I experienced the same extremely rude customer service -- I really don't know how the receptionist stays employed. They have just lost 4 customers that have been there a while. read more

I've been going to the doctor's off and on for the last 36 years and this place is exceptional! I love that Dr. Moon is so thorough and she puts you at ease while having to make an adjustment to new glasses, such as progressive lenses. Her staff is wonderful and they're so caring, even suggesting the getting photographs of my eyes to test for glaucoma etc. versus those old nasty eye drops that blur your vision for four hours. Lastly, Rosa she was so helpful with the guidance of picking out some fashionable frames that would still be functional for me. This isn't your ordinary eye doctor this is an experience!! I love Dr. Moon!! She's a very smart doctor and she knows what she's doing. I used to see the same doctor for years and switch to her because it was closer. I was nervous At first, but as soon as I walked in the doors I was greeted with a smile and everyone is just so nice . The optical department is amazing. Rosa helped me find some glasses And it was a little bit of a hard decision because every single eyeglass that she chose for me I loved. We've been customers at Lakeside Vision for over two decades, but service and quality have gotten so bad that we're done there. If I could have given a lower score than one star, I would have. Two consecutive bad prescriptions, terrible glasses and lousy service. Poorly maintained computer system ties all the automated equipment together but hasn't been working properly the last three times I was in the office. Last pair of glasses were so bad that I returned them and requested my money back -- I've heard nothing and will be shocked if they ever make contact. Someplace in Plano, there's a quality optician -- too bad Lakeside Vision is no longer that place. read more

September 2019 - Dr. Moon is amazing, this review is not about her but the sheer inept staff of the facility. Apparently my first mistake was using eye insurance while getting both glasses and contacts. They have absolutely no idea how such a concept would work and double charged me for the glasses. It took two weeks to get them to admit the mistake was theirs and refund me for the invalid charge. Then we went round and round for another two weeks to finalize all the billing necessary for my insurance. May 2020 - These jack@sses had the nerve to send me a bill for almost $300 for the contacts I've already paid for ! AVOID THIS PLACE AT ALL COST! They will find any way they can to try and milk as much money out of you as possible. I will be filing a complaint with the BBB. read more

I don't know Dr. Moon - this is about the glasses side. We were referred here by our doctor for the Hoya lenses their optical group provides. In 2013 we received excellent service and so when it was time to update the prescription we came back. Biggest Mistake. They had all new people that have proven they don't know what they are doing. We were clear that we needed the same lens material as last time because of glare issues. After bad headaches for 4 weeks with the new glasses, we went back to our doctor. We found out that the upgraded frameless glasses should never have been suggested or minimally warned they could increase glare and the lenses were made from a different material. We called Lakeside and were told they would be remade at no charge. When we arrived to pick them up, we were told by Rose they didn't do the paperwork correctly at the original order and so we owed significantly more money. When we asked to speak to a manager, Rose tried to prove that this mistake was somehow ours. She said no one else could help. We said it is not right months down the road that we are responsible for more money because of her/their error. She told us to just leave - they'd void the transaction. We will see. read more

My first visit here, everyone was super nice. Location great and in close proximity to my work, but I waited for more than 30 minutes to see the Doctor. Another great experience at Lakeside Vision. If you are new to the area or are looking for a new eye doctor, I highly recommend them. Both Dr. Moon and Dr. McPherson are friendly, professional, and thorough. They use the latest technology too. You know that machine that puffs a scary puff of air in your eye? They use a wand that is less scary. I had an issue that I emailed Dr. Moon about an issue, and she personally took the time to respond to me. I really appreciate that. Very disappointed with my first visit morning. Waited 15 minutes before I asked when I would be seen. He checked and it was another 30 minutes! They sent me 5 text reminders the previous week and they can't call me proactively to let me know or reschedule? Not impressed. I went back the following week and received fantastic care. They wanted me to wait a few days to order a supply of contacts in case they needed to adjust the fit. They were very gracious when I went back with a problem. A longtime issue has been fixed and I see wonderfully now. I am so happy with the level of care and attention. I have changed my rating to very high. Dr Moon takes time to make sure it's right. I have seen Dr. Moon and staff at Lakeside Vision and Optical for at least 7 or 8 years. Her care has always been exceptional in every way. For my wife's contact lenses she always makes sure we get the best price that even Beats 1-800-CONTACTS. The glasses staff, usually Rosa, is always very helpful and patient with me when I take a long time to pick frames! Also, they have remade lenses for me more than once over the years, when there seemed to be a manufacturing problem with the lenses themselves. I recommend the office highly. read more

Our experience with Dr Deborah Moon treated us with hate and discrimination and very disrespectful. Very bad mouth lady. She look down upon us saying that we should go to walmart and why are we at her office and we belong to a race of cheap people and country. We were returning patient for her and went for the yearly exam appointment scheduled with the doctor Deborah Moon on 6/17 at 1:30 PM. At first the Nurse ( Huda ) she brought our paper work and went over with us on the options of the eye health check. She gave us two options for eye exam 1) Dilation procedure 2) Taking pictures of the eye exam. We asked her how much is the charge for the pictures and Insurance coverage and she told us to give her $40 out of pocket. So I was thinking something is wrong as this office is trying to cheat us. So next I asked for dilation and she said It is fully covered. So I opted for Dilation. Later on, after starting the procedure of dilation and now our eyes are soaked up with the dilation liquid. The doctor (Deborah Moon ) rushed in asked us why did you do the dilation as I am seeing your Insurance has good coverage and you only have to pay $20 and showed to Nurse from the paper work and now started pushing her to take the pictures also. I told her now we are already dilated and let's continue and maybe next time we will take It. Now both doctor and nurse were very much upset with my decision. I should have left at that time only as her nurse messed up the exam totally. But I thought doctor will be more professional and will not treat me unprofessionally. In the mean time I did a mistake by enquiring about contact lenses. Now the nurse started acting upon us and was not giving us the proper Information due to the previous Incident. We enquired about contact lenses and she gave us all confusing Information and we already had a bad experience with pricing though we were covered by $60 from our Insurance towards the contact examination and she did not gave us that discount from her total fees of $125 for contacts examination. Again wrong Information to us and we were confused again. Now doctor comes in after a while and went over with us figures on the board knowing that I am already dilated and my vision is blurry. I told her I cannot see the figures as I am already dilated. So she explained me verbally but she wasn't clear in her conversation that I should be paying all the contact fees right away today which also Includes the contact lenses for whole one year and the total was $626. My Insurance already Included the examination consultatation upto $60. Doctor kept telling me you have time until 3 months to come for multiple times for correction until your contacts are adjusted and we release the prescription. Doctor did her routine eye exam and gave us the lense to put on and we did by ourselves. At that time the vision was not clear and we couldn't see properly with the lenses ON. So she told me come back for next week for contact corrections until your dilation effect is weaned off. I wasn't satisfied but she pushed me put it on. Now the nurse calls me out and ask me to pay the copay of regular visit and then $125 for the contact lenses examination along with the 1 year charge of $626 for the lenses and she was very rude and started pushing me to pay everything before leaving the office. I told her my contact lenses are still not set and my vision is not clear. We were never told by the doctor to pay upfront today only all the fees and then I called up my husband that these guys are not looking right to me. My husband spoke to nurse but she wasn't responding to him correctly and when he asked do we need to purchase the contact lenses today Itself and so she did not give her a clear answer. She made on us obligatory to buy the contact lenses. So I told her politely that we don't want to pay now upfront whole amount and ready to pay examination fees. She got more upset now and went inside and told to doctor that the patient husband is upset and she is refusing to pay. I paid the full exam fees of $125 and came out of office and now everyday Dr is sending to our personal email attacking us personally. We tried to go back to her for follow up apointment and below was her response. --------------------------------------------------------------------- My receptionist informed me that you just made another appointment for your wife tomorrow at 10:00am. Seriously? After your ridiculous google review , there is no way you or your wife will ever be seen in this office. I spoke with Patty at VSP today, and she informed me you or your wife made a formal complaint. If you or your wife show up at my business, I will have no choice but to call the police. Staff seemed pleasant enough but I'm not dealing with doctors who believe their time is more valuable than mine. Things have been changing quite a bit due to restrictions with the corona virus...especially in doctors' or medical offices. So, I called to confirm my appointment with Dr. Moon a couple of days in advance.....just to make sure that everything was still a "go." Their receptionist sounded dazed & confused. Finally, she found my appointment and was able to confirm the date & time for me. (Interesting that I had to call to confirm. I remember when doctors' offices would call to confirm as a courtesy.) Then, she said, "Thank you." as if I were finished. I said, "No, I have one more question. Did everything with my eye insurance check out?" Their receptionist said, "I don't know....that's not my department." Me: Okay...let me speak with someone in that department. She: They aren't here. Me: When will they be back? She: I don't know. Me: Let me speak with Dr. Moon. She: Not available. I have another line to answer. Me: Since you are located in my neighborhood, I'll come over to find out what the problem is ....IN PERSON. I have to say....this is a first for me! Usually, a receptionist can answer questions over the phone and doesn't require an in-person interview. Now, I have to drive over there and speak to someone in person since she wouldn't allow me speak with anyone else!!! Why aren't people who answer phones for a living instructed in the proper way to answer phones these days? Fielding questions from your clientele should be second-nature to office staff. They also give you the first impression of that office. My impression....not so good! I'm not sure if this office is going to work out or not. Their staff seem to be very confused or inept. In either case, "I don't know!" is an unacceptable answer in any business. I'll post the rest of my findings when I get back. Just got home...here's what happened: the office is beautiful....but, the receptionist is the problem. Because she had misspelled my husband's name, they couldn't find my information. I had spelled everything three separate times for Yvonne when setting up the appointment. Because Yvonne was unable to listen attentively, she told me that my insurance was invalid or inactive....whatever that means. WRONG!!! Maybe if you spelled my husband's name right....everything would be AOK. It's a "no go" at this point. Read the other reviews before you go. Word to the wise. read more

I came here because of good reviews on Dr. Moon. However, I never got to see her. The other Dr. was good though, no complaints there. Why I won't be back is because of the way the business end of it was handled for both of my appointments. I was charged nearly the full cost on my first appt., and I questioned it saying that I'd met my deductible and they are in-network so I should only have to pay 10%. They blew off my concerns and I ended up just paying it. My second visit I told them I wouldn't pay it because they already owe me a refund from the first visit. They called back to their billing person and we went around and around. I asked them to call my insurance to confirm I'd met my deductible. They told me they wouldn't, that I needed to call them later and see why they weren't sending this information to Lakeside's system. I told them the problem is on their end (Lakeside system) because other Dr. offices clearly see that I met my deductible. They disagreed and I was forced to pay nearly the full amount once again. They knew I was very unhappy and didn't care to do anything about it - they got their payment, they were happy. I then had to contact my insurance company to get it straightened out and it was indeed something insurance was sending them. They called to let me know they would refund me most of what I'd paid. Never an apology for the hassle the patient went through for something that was their problem. Also, I was still expected to pay in full for a screening that the Dr. wanted but that they knew insurance wouldn't pay for. In other words, I wasn't asked if I would be okay paying for a screening they were wanting to do. That's just unprofessional. When I brought this up, they said they would check with the Dr. and get back with me. But they never did and didn't return my calls either. So, in summary, they are insulting (blew me off, when it turns out I was right) and they won't admit their errors or own them (or apologize). Seems they are more interested in the patient's payment than the patient experience. read more

She is a wonderful doctor and person. She is caring, compassionate, personable and an extremely competent professional.
