This place is a health hazard. Water is dripping from every ceiling tile. Water running down walls. Mold on ceiling. Smells of mold. This place is disgusting. Carpets are soaked from water leaks. When I informed them of water pouring through ceiling at steps #7. They just lined up buckets and eventually they overflowed and flooded down to the next level. On top of the health hazards, the place was filthy. Windows filthy, carpet dirty, the rooms appeared clean until you looked under furniture. This place needs to be visited by health dept. MOUNTAINVIEW ZERO STARS. AVOID AT ALL COSTS! This place bills itself as a resort golf course, but it's an absolute disgrace. The tee boxes were trashed, the fairways were a mix of crabgrass and bare dirt, and the greens looked like a science experiment gone wrong - half dead, half diseased. The staff were terrible, and to top it all off, the groundskeeper ran over my ball in broad daylight while "mowing" the "grass." Speaking of the grounds, the overflowing garbage cans suggest they don't bother with daily upkeep. This was, without a doubt, the worst golf "course" I have ever had the misfortune of visiting. It wouldn't be worth $5, even if I were bringing my kid. Save your money and go literally anywhere else. read more

The nostalgia has worn off. I've been coming here with my grandparents for at least 25 years if not more. I haven't been there since 2019. This place is run down and that is an understatement. Nothing is being maintained besides maybe the lawn. They slapped a fresh coat of paint on and didn't bother to tape anything off or even pull the light fixtures down rather they painted around and over them. It's beyond filthy. The wooden decks look like they are about to rot out and collapse. The pool is absolutely DISGUSTING!!! It was cloudy all week and today, 7/19, was shut down by the health department. This is TOTALLY preventable and a failure to do so by the employees. God only knows what we were swimming in. The employees, specifically April, are just rude and unfriendly. She had her mom and kids and everyone at the pool. They aren't even staying here. Guess it's a free for all and a daycare. It seems like all the employees do is sit on the porch of the "pool house" and smoke cigarettes. You have to walk by them smoking to get to the clubhouse and pool. It's revolting. It makes me so incredibly angry and sad to see what happened to this once nice place. You can complain or ask for something to be fixed and it goes on deaf ears. While the course layout shows signs of a good original design, it's clear that maintenance has been completely neglected. The greens are in terrible shape -- patchy, bumpy, and often bare of grass -- making putting frustrating and unpredictable. Worse than the course conditions was the staff. After avoiding a completely flooded cart path (for obvious safety reasons), we were removed from the course without warning and denied any refund. The tone was rude and unprofessional throughout. Do yourself a favor and play at Mountaineer Golf Club instead -- much better upkeep and a staff that actually treats you with respect. read more

This review is for the Mountainview Golf Course, it is absolutely TERRIBLE. For one, they put on this facade that it is a classy golf course (must wear collared shirts) for what? To drive through the GIANT mud puddles on their golf cart pathways? They charged us $15 for me to just drive the golf cart for my husband and they should honestly PAY people to drive on their pathways because they are full of gigantic potholes. However, oh no you definitely can't drive on the green because that would require more maintenance for the owners. The green is severely unkept and you cannot even see your ball. If you want to act like an established golf course, put an OUNCE of maintenance in your golf course, or charge what you are offering. He lied, kept our money we already paid through Priceline and rented our rooms. Shady, insane, and actually criminal behavior. We are reaching out to a magistrate in the area about their behavior at this "resort". Do not stay here. It was dirty, the employees all smelled horribly of cigarette smoke, and they were terribly rude. Save your money and stay at a reputable hotel. Don't get scammed! read more

The hotel room was clean and in better shape than I thought it would be after reading current reviews. We had a group of 24 and only found out the pool was closed right before our weekend began. Our group had been to Lakeview years ago and really enjoyed their swimming pool. From talking to workers, it doesn't sound like they will ever be able to reopen it. Our experience at the Wyndham operated Lakeview Golf Resort was awful. From the time we tried to open the door until we left, it was not a good experience. There was only 4 squares of toilet paper on the roll, microwave didn't work, fridge froze food, headboard fell off bed when we sat on it. When we went to front desk to ask for toilet paper, we were told there wasn't any. Later, the girl brought up 2 used rolls from other rooms. It was an awful start to our walk down memory lane. The operators/owners should be embarrassed. I will never stay there again and/or recommend it. read more

The price for each night more than double. Almost tripled. We flew in from Arizona for football weekend and didn't have another option a that point. I attended a mandatory conference here over the weekend. From the absolutely filthy rooms and floors to the BEDBUG we found and ant infestation, this was the worst "resort" experience I've ever had. I booked a week here through Interval international; my home resort is in Florida. This place is a joke! If you have the misfortune of having booked a week here, be prepared. Purchase your own, toilet paper, paper towels, dish washing liquid; the dishwasher doesn't work. They only supply one roll for each bathroom, and two ounces of dish soap, one roll of paper towels. This is a budget inn type of resort. I called the front desk to see if I could get an extra blanket, there being only one available in the closet, for three beds. Evidently the timeshare employees check out at 5, or so.. I am out of luck. Oh, but Emily who seems to be the only employee, said I can get one tomorrow; how thoughtful. This evening we thought we would play some games in the the clubhouse, but we were informed by some other guests that the change machine has been out all week, so we headed back to our unit. The vents for the air conditioner up stairs have fur growing on them! Don't expect to keep cool while sleeping at night. I will also like to mention that I use ear plugs that are excellent at blocking mist noises, didn't help. I called the front desk and asked to speak with security, Belle the desk clerk didn't even bother to ask what was wrong, put me on hold. Finally, the security guard picked up. I explained to him, what was going on and he said he would be up in a minute, and that he would walk around and see what is going on. Ten minutes goes by the idiots are still talking away. It's now 2:10 and I am fit kill. I call back Belle, and she informs me that the security guard didn't hear anything! I told her no one was walking around the unit, so he clearly didn't even leave his vehicle. She tells me she will have him come out again. Well deputy dog finally comes to the back deck of the assholes who are now getting louder. He shows up with his trusty flashlight, and now he is shooting the you know what with them, showing them how far the beam on his special flashlight can reach. They are chatting like a bunch of good old boy's. I call Belle for the third time, she is absolutely no help. I ask her to call her manager; it's now 2:30 in the morning. She's okay and the she will call me back. Twenty minutes later I call her again. You know what she tells me? I talked with the security guard and he says they weren't loud, and that there isn't a problem that people are allowed to sit outside and talk. I told her that I could hear them in my bathroom with the door shut, and hung up!!!!!! The resort representatives only work 9-5 Monday thru Friday, so if you need anything the hotel wants nothing to do without you after hours !!!!!!!!!! Oh and I discovered this morning that the unit nextdoor are renters, they have a smoker grill on their deck, so they have carte blanche!!!! read more

The hotel was clean. That's the only good thing I could say. They state they have hair dryers in the rooms, but I had to ask 3 different employees to get one. The phones in the room didn't work. Had to use cell phone to call the front desk. Luckily the house keeping closet was open so that we could get more toilet paper and coffee. We stayed here for Homecoming weekend. The staff was friendly and courteous at check in, check out and on the phone. The one thing I do not understand is why each time I called internally or from a cell that it takes about 8-10 rings to answer the phone. The room was adequate. The beds and pillows are comfortable. Upon check in our room was properly stocked. However, on the second day we did not receive anymore coffee to use in our room and no fresh towels. WOW. We stayed one night in April. We were told it would be $89 but they charged $159. Then in May the charged us $144 for a no show when we never booked to stay with them in May. Called and were told there is no record of us staying in April and we were suppose to stay 2 nights in May. The experience is straight out of a David Lynch movie. Now we don't know when they are going to charge us more money for not staying with them. Can anyone follow. I stayed here for two rounds of golf and one night's stay this Spring. Starting with the resort itself, it's really just okay. The rooms are in desperate need of some TLC and the restaurant was downright forgettable (as was the buffet breakfast). Some areas are nicer than others, but overall nothing I would stay at just for a relaxing getaway. The main reason we were here was for the golf as we got some great rates. The course was in great condition and more difficult for me considering my handicap. I wasn't overly pleased with the gentleman working in the Pro Shop on both days, but the starter and maintenance staff were all very pleasant. read more

My family and I stayed here for my sisters graduation from WVU. Right from the beginning there were issues getting into our room. When I went to get the key, they had apparently assigned my family and I to a room that ALREADY HAD PEOPLE IN IT. You could not believe the embarrassment of walking into an occupied hotel room, expecting it to be vacant. After apologizing at the front desk, we were given another room. This one was *not* occupied, but immediately gave me crime scene vibes. There was an actual bloodstain on the chair at the desk. The wallpaper was peeling on one wall, and on another wall someone had done some very obvious patch painting to cover something up, but the shades of paint didn't match at all. The bathtub and shower head looked like they both needed a good scrub, and the toilet handle was broken. The floors were VERY dirty, I wouldn't let my kids walk barefoot in our room. Even though we were given a laminated TV guide for several channels, we only had 4 working on the television. My kids and fiancé took a walk down to the swimming pool just to check it out... what they initially thought was a cover on the pool turned out to be a thick layer of some sludgy, oily substance, and they described the whole atmosphere as "something out of a horror movie." Not to mention its apparently like traveling through a labyrinth to get there. I will say, the beds were comfortable and the linens were clean. I didn't see any signs of bedbugs, and we all slept very well that night. The staff is very friendly and accommodating, and owned up to the mistake about giving us someone else's room. Overall though, I would not recommend coming here unless you have absolutely no other option. The hotel is not a resort, and to advertise it as such is really misleading. The only reason I'm giving it two stars is because we didn't leave with bedbugs and the people running the place were extremely nice. read more

BUYER BEWARE: I would give this place 0 stars if I could. Much of it should be condemned. We stayed at this resort on Oct 12/13. I booked directly with Lakeview counter staff based upon the glowing description of the place. Upon arrival I was totally appalled at the terrible condition of the "Lake view suite" and the other room our friend stayed in. I don't believe the young night clerk who booked the rooms has ever been in them. We checked at 11 pm after a 4 1/2 hr. flight from Seattle, renting a car, and picking up my brother's friend who had flown in from Orlando. (We made this trip for my brother's memorial service that was another 2 1/2 drive form Morgantown.) Our daughter, son-in-law, and 3 young children had just driven two days from Oklahoma to meet us....needless to say we were exhausted upon arrival. I signed paperwork to accept the rooms based upon the promises made when I booked....that was a beautiful water view deck 2 bedroom suite with kitchenette, for which we paid $1255.64 in advance. I signed the paperwork without first seeing the rooms, and was not given a copy. (I admit to being over trusting, which is why I am writing this now! Morgantown is my home town, and I worked for Lakeview 50 yrs ago when it was a very high quality, customer service oriented establishment . I had agreed to pay this exorbitant price because I wanted my family to be comfortable.) The musty smell hit us as we opened the door... the room had not been aired in some time, and had not been refurbished in this century. The promised "kitchenette" was nonexistent. The mattresses were worn out and did not even have proper mattress pads. ALSO NO DECENT RESTAURANT (just a bar) or even milk for the "dry cereal" "free" breakfast. The water and coffee tasted like poison.....the list goes on, but we were trying to make the best of the situation and get to my brother's funeral. Our first complaint was ignored. When we requested a second key to the "suite", we got a "shrug" and "that's all we have". One ancient, tiny plastic remote type key was very difficult to keep track of. With two vehicles and 4 adults this turned out to be a major hassle. I know there were keys, because the rooms were entered while we were out, even though we had not given permission or requested maid service for a 2-day stay. We quickly realized that no "complaints" would be received by the rude day counter staff ("Crystal" and "April") who constantly walk around with a "defensive manner" and cell phones stuck to their ears, totally ignoring the guests. When we first checked in, our daughter pulled the sheets to check the mattress for bed bugs. There were stink-bugs in the bed! But we were all so exhausted we just collected the ones we could get to and thew them outside. We did not have energy to relocate at that point. I tried to air the room by opening the doors to the "view deck".....WOW. No screens on the doors to the deck, which was literally falling apart....and NO VIEW, UNSAFE FOR THE CHILDREN. We had to keep the doors closed to keep out the stink bugs, and endure the disgusting musty smell. To say we were lied to and overcharged is a gross understatement. Now Lakeview is refusing to even make any partial refund because we did not reject the rooms upon check in. From looking at other reviews here (afterward!) I see this is a pattern at this place. BUYER BEWARE! I am very upset at the lies and rude customer service. Our complaints afterward were completely ignored or "stonewalled". Their response? That THEY HAVE our acceptance of the room in writing. "They are remodeling". "Our manager will return a call"....(Of course that never happened.) After 4 phone calls and a week later, we finally got through to a "manager" who berated us on the phone and refused any refund OR ANY RESPONSIBILITY.... read more

Not worth it. We stayed for one night despite the reviews. We thought "it's just one night. Why not?" Nope. Stay elsewhere. Our room didn't have hot water so we couldn't shower! When we brought it to the staffs attention she said "oh I thought that was fixed." It's horribly inconvenient to not have shower...on top of that, they charged the wrong card for our room. My card was used to hold the reservation but we gave them my partners card to pay for the room and had an explicit conversation about which card to use. They ended up charging mine. I wouldn't return here. It's terribly outdated and corners have been cut to try and update it. Paint is "touched up" but is literally all over the place (counter, vanity, trim, etc) and doesn't match. Hallways and windows haven't been cleaned in who knows how long. BEWARE! Thousands of Dollars Stolen! Do Not Have Your Wedding or Event Here! My Fiancé and I were scheduled to have our wedding here in July of 2020. Due to the COVID-19 lockdown, this has to be postponed and eventually canceled. I tried to work with the events team and the manager to figure out how to proceed, but I kept getting switched to different people and then our calls were not answered at all. The contract promised a refund as they were not able to hold our event, and the manager confirmed this, but to this day I have not received any money back. I had to get a lawyer involved and have an order from the judge for us to be refunded, but have still not gotten any money 3 years later. This venue stole thousands of dollars from us without a care and have proceeded to dodge our attempts to reach them ever since. We booked a room here for one night. Got the 'King Delux' room with spa/hot tub in room. The tub was the nicest thing in the room. Plenty of hot water, it was clean, and relaxing. With that said, this hotel is old and outdated. The sign along the road where you turn in is ancient. Plenty of parking though. Outside facade is pretty basic, no signs, pretty underwhelming. The fountain in front was full of green water and clearly had not been functional in a very long time. Check in was quick and easy. Our room was on the second floor, where we were directed to the stairwell. No elevators? Stairwell smelled like sweaty feet. Second floor didn't smell much better and the windows in the hallway were disgustingly dirty. Get into the room, it was 1,000 degrees. The view from our room was the parking lot, directly under us was a huge dumpster. Who wants to look at a bunch of garbage? Towel rack in the bathroom was gone, like ripped out and never replaced (one side of the hardware was still on the wall). No hairdryer. Fridge was old and needed cleaned. Bed was also very old, not comfortable at all. For Cheat Lake, this place is pretty bad. At one time it was probably fancy and had lots of people. Now it just looks like every other poorly-maintained and run down hotel. Next time, we will find something much better for the same price. read more

Management argued with us that this was not true and had never happened before but another family in our group was charged twice also. I finally had to provide a snapshot of our bank account to prove we were charged twice. A week later I am still waiting on refund. Per management they are working on it. If they said I could play it for free each day, and left a $100 bill in each hole, and gave me a free golf outfit at each tee, and gave me 4 dozen Pro V 1s each time I counted a stroke, I still wouldn't play this course. I don't even know where to begin. Quite simply, stay away. They cut the rough maybe 1-2x a summer. The fairways are like actual rough. The greens; don't even get me started. They are more dried out than a 20 year old sand dollar. 11/18 greens I had to mark my ball elsewhere because of cracks and dirt and rocks in my way. I have never played a worse course in my life. Oh and the cart paths....they are quite literally missing chunks of concrete. There are areas where there is a foot drop because of missing concrete. I jarred my back because of this. Thus, the main reason for this review. The layout is actually nicely done, and it has the potential to be a great course. But imagine a course where maintenance was done maybe once every 10 years, and grass was mowed maybe twice a summer....and it would still be a nicer place than this course. Save your money, got to a crack house in Baltimore and putt on the floors there. It would be undoubtedly nicer. read more

The hotel was NOT prepared for incoming guest. There were guest waiting in the hallways for the rooms to be turned over, feces in the toilet, and room key cards were not working properly. The hotel had a VERY BAD Odor!!! I do not recommend staying at this hotel. read more

We had booked a room for a stay and play package for 5 nights, we spent one night and we were out of there! This hotel was so old and out dated when we checked in we asked about the outdoor swimming pool and they said it was broken so we asked about the Jacuzzi and they said it was broken also but they said we could swim in the indoor pool so we went to check it out and it was musty smelling and the pool water was cold and scum floating on top of the pool! We went over to play tennis at there fitness facility and of course the tennis courts were gone and the fitness machines looked like they were from the 1980's. We went down for breakfast and I asked for OJ and they said the OJ machine was broken and when I got my pancakes they weren't cooked, the cook said it wasn't his specialty! We checked out but they still charged us for the next night. Don't ever go to this place! read more

Dealt with a Jennifer Kelly at the property owners association and this was the most unprofessional treatment I have ever received. Talked with an Emily at the front desk who was the only employee who gave satisfactory service. I would never stay here again. It is old an outdated. We had an awful experience with the Resort. We came down for a work weekend/getaway. We made our way through 3 rooms--all being dirty. We try not to complain about much, so we just asked for a new room. The first two looked like they hadn't been touched by housekeeping after the blasts guests checked out. The third was the worst. During a pandemic, it's not a good look for a hotel to be doling out still-dirty, less than hygienic rooms. By the third room, we hoped that since the beds were made, the room was clean but that was far off. The entire toilet seat and cover were covered in mold. It absolutely disgusting. We are actually thankful that we found this because it gave us an excuse to be able to check out without too much of a fight or causing too much of a disturbance. Just sitting in the rooms the air was stale and grimy. We felt like we needed to shower just sitting in the room but didn't want to risk it. Thankfully the front desk let us check out without charging anything-- but this was just gross. read more

Are no stars possible? This was one of my worst experiences staying at a hotel. I am a Manager at a hotel and would never imagine treating a guest the way Myself and fiancé was treated during our stay. I received a call the day before our arrival that our room was not available for our bridal weekend. They had moved us to a lower graded room and the manager April was extremely condescending when telling me there was nothing she could do about it. When we arrived my fiancé went to check in and he was notified that the outside pool was closed. So our room was canceled and the pool was closed. We had a wedding party block at this hotel and our room was the only one changed. My fiancé and I are not one to mind. My fiancé spoke with a front desk agent and she apologized profusely. She offered us a condo in the complex of the hotel and we had a delightful stay. around 4:30 on Friday as I was getting ready for our bridal party dinner I get a call from the hotel manager April stating "I don't know who let you rent that condo but you do not have rights to that condo. You are paying a certain amount a night and you do not deserve that" I was literally in tears because my fiancé had a good interaction with the Lake View Staff and the manager of the condo approved our stay. We have no problem paying we just wanted to enjoy our bridal weekend. This property truly needs to reconsider the Management staff at Lake View Resort. I was extremely stressed because of an employee that should never talk to a guest the way she did.. Multiple times. I am writing this because I would hate for another bride or ANY GUEST to have to go through what I endured. read more

The only really good thing I have to say about this hotel is the staff is very friendly and was helpful and accommodating. I had ordered a mobility accessible room and was given a room on the second floor with two flights of stairs. The next day the elevator went out and I had to use those stairs which was very difficult. The front desk then put me in a room on the first floor. The hotel is outdated and the second rooms beds were horrific, very very uncomfortable, it was like sleeping in a taco. The toilets are very low to the ground and I had to have assistance using them. It is relatively clean. The only thing that I found that needed more attention was the bathtub. read more

Name: Michael This has been the worst, I mean very worst hotel experience of my entire life. We booked a deluxe king solely to use the jacuzzi tub it offers. Upon arrival we found out that they had none of these rooms available because they neglected to inform every major website they were remodeling these specific rooms. We traveled 20 miles out of our way for this specific reason. After an hour, yes I mean an hour the front desk agent said they were upgrading us to a suite. Great we thought. No wrong!!! There is a huge crack in the ceiling, and the entire room was covered with ants. We didn't find out about the ant until bedtime around midnight after we had already eaten and found ants had been everywhere. There was no manager on the property and as of now they have not offered any refund. This so called upgrade was unacceptable and likely doesn't meet health or building code. I'm a frequent traveler and I'm disgusted with this listing. Priceline claimed their were two restaurants on site, room service, bar and lounge except none of which were open on the property. No members of the staff were taking COVID precautions. read more

if the price is too good to be true then it probably is! we booked this room because we had appointments at Ruby to following day and live 3+ hours away. the photos made this hotel look like a dream but I honestly wouldn't even let my worst enemy stay here. we were not informed of any of the amenities that were not working including the pool being renovated and the elevators being out of order. kudos to the beautiful human that was working and was able to get us 1 floor down rather than 2 floors up as we had children and multiple bags and medical equipment that needed to come in. None of the hotel entrance doors closed entirely to where there were huge gaps in the in between so upon entering each set of doors we were greeted by BIG light attracted bugs. the woman at the desk sent us to the wrong end of the corridor to take a flight of stairs so we had to come clean back across the hotel to get to our room. turns out we were closer to a different set of stairs right off of the lobby. the hotel had a moldy smell and the front lobby, despite the polished look, resembled a sterile hospital corridor. Our room was a nightmare, as a laundry staff for a hotel myself I really appreciated the clean smelling and stain free sheets. However, the latch at the top of the door was broken, only the deadbolt worked, the bathroom was clean but the run downed room ruined the aesthetic it was going for. the smoke alarm on the ceiling had more nicotine tar than a dive bar built up in it and the outlets were painted making it hard to plug anything in. there were no USB outlets in the room so we were struggling to get certain things to charge. there was even a cord that was painted the same as the wall to hide it. aside from all of that, the indoor pool was closed so we were able to swim at the Condo pool. it was eery and dark and no lights on the pool area. the last BIG complaint I have was the bed. it was entirely hard and honesyou, the floor would have been a better fit if it hadn't been splattered with whatever paint they decorated with. the staff was super friendly!! I will give the hotel that!!! OH!!!! And there was black mold in the shower on the ceiling. read more

we booked a condo through our timeshare. The Lakeview Condos are the worst place we have ever stayed. There are lots of ants in the kitchen. The condos must not have been painted for about 2O years. Waklpaper is coming off. Thet give you towels when you come in, but when I asked for clean towels, I was told by the POA management, "that's the reason we give you a washer and dryer". When I walked into the building that has the POA office, a group of 3 people were smoking right in the walkway to the door. I was told that it was the manager smoking. They won't give you any more than 2 dishwasher pods, 2 boxes of tide, and a very small bottle of dish detergent. When I asked for more, I was told I needed to go to the store and buy some. The golf course is expensive and poorly maintained. Yuck. read more
