There are many other stores around that are bigger but if you're grabbing a few things and want to avoid the hustle and bustle of a big market, this is a nice alternative. The prices are slightly higher than other stores but you make up for it with the time you save being able to get in and get out. The store is pretty clean. I recently visited this Market this past weekend and went back 3 separate times. I am surprised at the low rating for this convenience store and would like to weigh in to get the rating closer to the 5 star experience I had. First of all, the customer service was unmatched and superior compared to any other place I visited in the area. Donnie greeted my boyfriend and I straight away and gave us so many great recommendations for mixers and spirits to purchase. Secondly, the convenient location and huge selection were a great bonus. I went to stater bros our first night and felt rushed due to the lack of employees and general feeling of being unwelcome by the employees of the store. So inevitably, I forgot a few things. I was so glad that this market was so close to our cabin and had everything we needed! Third, the kittens Simon and Loki add a great ambiance to the store and they are well taken care of. Donnie even gave me the instagram that features the cats so I could follow them and see them continue to grow! I came back the next day and brought my whole family to come meet donnie and the kitties and they all had an extremely pleasant visit as well! Lastly, the store is extremely clean and well stocked with not only food and beverages but any souvenirs you can think of! I've been in Big Bear 13 years now. This was my first visit to Lakeview Market. I found the clerk to be friendly. I specifically went in for a bag of pretzels, but they didn't have any. I especially wanted pretzels because they're not high in fat. The clerk told me they only have "Whatever we are sent". I actually get that. In addition, I 100% understand that if I wanted a better price or larger selection I had the option of going to Vons or Stater Brothers. Aside from pretzels, they had a huge wine, beer, snack, pet food, dairy, grocery and souvenir selection. I bought one small split of California sparkling wine, it was around $3, and I was happy with the convenience of my purchase as well as the proximity to my marina where we were headed next. Shelves were very full, a bit dusty, but they had a very large inventory which is likely quite lucrative during a busy weekend or holiday. I would stop in again, why not? For alcohol or a few basics, this is a great option vs spending an hour driving to Vons (roundtrip in snow - believe it!). Prices are slightly higher as is typical for convenience marts; I didn't see any crazy markups/gouging. Some prices aren't listed, just ask while checking out. Wine and liquor prices were a pleasant surprise, very close to grocery ($11 apothic wine). This is just the cutest little market. It's been in big bear forever but it's so handy. You can go in there and pretty much get a little bit of anything you want. Frozen burritos, big bowls of DIY top ramen and everything else you can imagine. They are not far from the village, but they are very close to all of the resorts in Boulder bay that is a big plus especially in the winter time. The booze didn't ring up so the sleepy looking, portly woman said go get another flavor. I did and it didn't ring up either, so sleepy sighed and said go buy another liquor. I arrive on a small electric bicycle and due it's value I ask to park it right inside the door, yes no problem. Ok good start. I was a little concerned anyway because some of the items were looking very sad, especially two lettuce that were so old I wouldn't feed to a starving rabbit! I buy the 750 ml bottle of wine that I've come for and she asks would I like a bag? We discuss yes I'd better as I'm on the bike. She puts the wine in a black grocery bag, I pay, wheel the bike outside holding tight to both bag handles for safety and before I can even get on the bike the wine drops through the bottom of the bag! There is a 4" gaping hole in the bottom of the bag where it is normally sealed to hold your items? I am less than five feet from the door! I go in and tell her what happened, I show her the hole in the bottom and she tells me " yes I think it's a bad batch of bags". Ok let me understand this, you knew already it was a bad batch of bags that had bad seals on the bottom, you knew it was a glass bottle of wine that I bought, you knew that I would be holding it the normal way (by the handles) because I was on a bike but you didn't think to mention that you had a faulty batch of bags? In answer to your next question, yes she charged me for the replacement bottle, oh but she let me off the CRV, because I didn't actually take the broken bottle away from the store! Lakeview Market is the perfect place for getting essentials without driving across town to the big supermarkets. Wide array of items and a large selection of wine and spirits to go with. Also a wide selection of tire chains which saved our necks in a massive snow storm. Most importantly, Andy and the rest of the crew are friendly, helpful, and patient with the likes of us big city interlopers. They kindly allowed us to park overnight when our nearby cabin's driveway became unusable after being damaged. Then, in the morning after two feet of snow fell, Andy came out and helped us shovel for an hour to get out of the lot. Couldn't say enough about how wonderful that was. read more

Aggressive dogs do not belong in a liquor store. Customer who was obviously a friend of the cashier was just visiting inside the store. The dog was a Pit-bull and I am not complaining about the breed just that he was very intimidating. He would bark and the owner would have to pull back on the leash. She said "As long as he doesn't bite someone". I am a dog lover but this dog did not belong in a crowded store. People would stop and go a different way to avoid the dog. read more

Red was very helpful and friendly. I came in because Chevron sold me wet fire wood. Red helped me and suggested fire logs that were very reasonably priced, easy to light and long burning. The price of the fire logs were posted. They have a lot of convenience items and a great alcohol section. read more

If I could give this place zero stars, I would. I have a property nearly and occasionally drop by to grab a couple things. The owner doesn't seem to really care and is pretty rude. In winter months, he just jacks up the prices insanely. The last straw is that the last two times I was there he was not wearing a mask or even have one around his neck. He does seem to understand that it's a requirement or about his customers. Terrible. Everyone in his store was wearing one. I will never be back. read more

They were open late in the sleepy/early closing town of Big Bear. hehe we got there at about 9:00pm...where most other stores were closed, they were open. They have bait worms, guides, hooks, ice chests..most anything you may need for last minute fishing items. I don't think the cashier understood us when we asked if people were having successful fishing trips that day ("catching fish") because he said "you want catfish? you use this" lol Good pitstop late at night for early morning breakfast foods for that early morning fishing stop! read more

We decided to take the little chipmunks to Big Bear and frolic in the snow. I read a negative review of this place on Google, but it is way too local to the cabin we rented so I stopped in last night to grab some instant coffee, snacks, and starter log. The staff was extremely helpful and even gave me some pointers of things to do with my little ones (since I'm too cheap to pay the absurd prices for inner tubbing). They have made it as an entry in my outlook contacts, so needless ot say that I'll visit them again and again. They have all of the amenities that can be found at a 7-11 plus other liquors only found in liquor stores. They have fresh coffee beans and a grinder on site. Plus seasonal goodies like snow sleds, shovels, clothes. Another bonus is that they sell annual, daily, and secondary adventure passes that you will need when parking in the national forest. read more

The gallon of milk a loaf of bread eggs and bacon it was $50. I would rather walk all the way to Stater Brothers if I had to. They have a tiny sign by the register that says atm charged 69 cent fee and no credit card under 10 bucks. I used a card and hadn't seen the sign. The guy never mentioned the fee and when after he asked if it was an atm and I said credit card. He said oh it doesn't matter, same thing. I tried refunding it to give cash instead but he said too late, the law says we can charge it. I don't mind knowing about a few and paying it but you should prominently display it and make it known. read more

The manager / owner levied a $2.50 charge - undisclosed - on a single $9 purchase because we used a Discover. He would not refund and were also n process of contesting with Discover.
