Lakeview Pearl is located on Harrison Avenue in the heart of Lakeview. It has recently been remodeled and is a nice lunch or dinner spot. The food is consistently good, but nothing spectacular. I visited recently on a Friday night, and the atmosphere was vibrant and a little loud. The service was excellent and the staff is friendly. I enjoyed the crab Rangoon and the sesame chicken from the starters. Both are great ways to start the meal. For my entree, I ordered the chicken teriyaki, and it is definitely one of my favorite items on their menu. I will definitely be back to enjoy some of my favorites and explore the menu. read more

I visited the Pearl today and am pleasantly surprised by all of the recent changes. The renovation has really brightened up the space and it feels more welcoming. Small sushi spot not far from my house. Ive kind of become a regular because my mom goes there often and I meet her when Im free. The servers are quick and attentive. They have the best egg drop soup in the city (in my opinion). The fish is always fresh and they have some creative special rolls. I love the crazy girl roll. Been looking for a good sushi place in New Orleans and well this is about my 4th place I have been. It is a neighborhood sushi and Asian food restaurant. The ambiance is real nice and the service was great. I came a little bit too close to closing, so was not able to try a lot of their dishes or sit by the aushi bar. They have a big selection of sushi rolls which we tried alien, soft shell crab and a triple salmon rolls. They were pretty good I would say, but since I like sashimi I would come back to check them out. Their miso soup was on point and their gyozas were better than the last place I went to. I do want to try other plates to see how their food compares to other sushi places. I believe that is a good family place and great for people that like sushi rolls. Was feeling for some sushi as there's not many food options towards the east. I came in at a time where it wasn't busy, but when I left it was packed. They do check for vaccination cards (so don't whine and get angry because you don't keep some form of verification on you or unless you're an anti-vaxxer). The atmosphere was in between chill/casual. Our server was attentive, but not overbearing. I had the squid steak, tuna tataki, yaki soba, and a cowboy roll. My friend got the Don Bofuri and a roll I forgot. The squid steak was less in quantity than other places, but had a more unique taste (not necessarily a bad, but it stands out). The tuna tataki was yum. Yaki soba was the only disappointment unfortunately, it was very bland as if it was just cooked just to be cooked without any seasonings or flavor (I added soy sauce which kinda saved it, but I'd rather not have to do that). For the Cowboy roll, I usually don't order beef based sushi, but I was willing to try it and for what it was, I liked it. Overall, Lakeview Pearl was a bit average. It fulfills the craving need, instead of eating just to not be hungry. I wouldn't come here often if there are other options, but there seemed to be plenty of regulars here at least from my point of view. read more

Today my girlfriend and I were looking for good sushi in the area and stopped in. We were one of two tables aside from table of two employees eating. It was 6:30pm dinner time just before most restaurants get their rush. We were sat right away and waited... 10 minutes into wondering if we were going to be served a female server finally walked over to our table. She scoffed and said she was eating. Then she gave us the most passive aggressive guilt trip about how it wasn't her job and how the bartender was suppose to take our table. We felt so guilted by this woman that we left. Ordered pick-up from Lakeview because they had what I wanted and what my bf wanted: crab Rangoon & squid steak 5 crab Rangoons came with the order and were crispy and delicious. Miso soup was tasty, chicken fried rice was good but could have used more sauce as it was pretty dried out. We used the rest of the squid steak sauce with it. I personally wasn't the biggest fan of the Tiger Roll we got, but I think I just picked the wrong one for my tastebuds. Next time! Last week, I went to Lakeview Pearl for the first time in years to celebrate my dad's birthday. We went for lunch and I was wondering how much had changed since I had last been there and honestly not much. It was still as delicious as I remember! This was my first time going for lunch and I ordered the sushi lunch bento box for $18.95. It came with a clear soup, house salad, noodle salad, two fried gyozas, a California roll, and 4 pieces of nigiri. The price for this seems kind of steep but it was definitely worth it for all of the food that you get! The sushi was fresh and delicious and I loved the noodle salad so much. We also ordered the chicken lettuce wraps were so good I could've honestly eaten that as my meal. The only thing that could possibly deter me from coming here in the future is their prices. I could go to Sake or Little Tokyo and order a crunchy roll or any basic roll for $5-$6 when at Lakeview Pearl that price is around $9-$10. I feel as though some of their food is overpriced while some is worth it, like the lettuce wraps were only $8 which to me was a steal at this place! The service was attentive and constantly checked on us. The waitress had overheard it was my dad's birthday and brought us complimentary green tea mochi and they were so yummy and unexpected! It was so sweet. I love the lakeview area so I like the location of this place as well as the atmosphere when you're inside. I had the chirashi dinner. It was a traditional take of sashimi over a bed of seasoned rice with a soup and salad. The soup I chose was miso (clear soup is also available), and it was a normal miso soup but had more bits of soy that I would averagely expect. The salad had the normal ginger dressing, but I would sad that the balance of the dressing favored sweet over the sharp bite of ginger, a bit disappointing for me because I prefer the ginger over the sweet. The chirashi was very-well seasoned and the fish were cut approximately average to what you should expect. The faux wasabi paste and ginger was per norm; though I will say that I do not prefer the pink ginger that is the norm for sushi places. The service was also average. This is an average to slightly above average sushi location. My recommendation is to go here if you live in the general area, but I would not recommend going far out of your way for it. read more

Found this place after Voodoo Fest. I was hot and it was so dusty out there. I just wanted something cold to eat. My husband searched for sushi places close by and we found this place. First impression is that parking was not the easiest. We used a parking lot for another place because they were closed. The building was nice but the seating area was a little small. There is a pretty large menu so it caters to pretty much everyone. My food was good but not great. I ordered the same thing I get everywhere, squid salad and volcano roll. Squid salad was great but the spicy tuna on my volcano roll tasted a little strange. It didn't taste like there was something wrong with it, but it had some seasoning that was different. It wasn't bad though. My husband's baked salmon app was a huge serving. It was good but not the best we've had. The prices were a bit high. $70 for the both of us. Great ambiance with dark wood and the sushi bar right up front as you enter. Very calming dinning area with booths and tables to enhance the sushi experience. The fish is *very fresh* and with the sushi and chefs on display as soon as you walk in, it has to be! My absolute fave on the menu is the Pearl Salad - loads of Sashimi cuts of salmon, tuna, and whitefish with some seaweed and squid salad. Very filling. Their rolls are fat and they have some great combinations (try the wasabi diamond roll!) They also have a good lunch menu, with boxes and pre-selected rolls which are moderately priced. If raw fish isn't your thing, they have some good teriyaki options and other traditional Asian dishes. Friendly and attentive waitstaff, very clean spot. read more

Well I give this place a 3. I've had the sushi, their three different kinds of fried rice, a few sides, And their moshi dessert. Sides were ok, sushi was normal sushi, moshi dessert was great BUT THE FRIED RICE WAS AMAZING BRO!!! But, this place is just too expensive, compare it to PF changs you could get the same fried rice for maybe 1 or 2 dollars more and you get nearly triple the amount that you get at Lakeview Pearl, so I would like to nicely ask to either lower prices or give more fried rice. This restaurant has a parking lot right beside it, the lot being shared with the frozen yogurt place and nail place. I have been here several times and haven't had anything bad. The service is just ok. Nothing spectacular. Its as if the wait staff is just apathetic, they just don't seem to care very much about anything. The hostesses all have blank stares into space and seem put off when you come in. The interior is clean, as is the restroom. Walking in the front door, the hostess stand is to the left, the sushi bar is to the right. They have plenty of tables and booths. I have had the hibachi, the shamrock roll, miso soup, tiger roll, just to name a few. The food is really good. I have no complaint with anything I have eaten here. If I happen to be in the mood and nearby, I will eat here, but I won't go out of my way to eat here again. read more
