This is a great little place near the Antique District with fast service. We had the fried chicken with biscuits, potato salad, and cole slaw and all were good. The slaw is creamy, sweet, and vinegary. The cheese curds appetizer was also delicious with homemade ranch dressing. This is a Coca-Cola restaurant (my favorite) but they do NOT have any sugar-free options (desserts or jelly for the biscuits). read more

The last time I was here was on a high school date nearly 40 years ago.... it's received much needed updates since then! There's a colorful mural on the exterior. The covered patio is the place to sit next to the wall if you want the best view of the lake, and it 's fun (especially for kids) to toss bites from your plate to the hungry carp and turtles below. After hearing good things, I went for breakfast with a friend and ordered the French toast after the server recommended it. Topped with strawberries and whipped cream, a half serving was the perfect size. With a side of crispy bacon and bottomless coffee, a delicious meal. My friend loved her "combo," hash browns with veggies mixed in and eggs on top. Our server was lovely as well. Would definitely return for dinner and live music next time I'm in the area. read more

Open for dinner a few days a week... best sandwiches and fried sides anywhere. I have worked my way through most of the sandwiches, a few salads, and one or two of their entrees. Been driving pass this place for a long time and just never gave it a chance. My go to breakfast spot just happened to be closed last Wednesday so I ended up here. What a happy accident. This place is awesome. First off it might be one of the cleanest restaurants I have ever been in. Everything was so shiny and bright. The service was fantastic as well as the food. My waitress is super nice and also gave me a menu to take home because I was inquiring about their dinner hours. They have an awesome patio out back that's right on a small lake and it also has a 21 and over bar section back there. After a fantastic experience at breakfast I am looking forward to coming back soon to try their dinner. read more

I am so glad I recently discovered this place! It's situated on the edge of a big lake. In warm weather its amazing because they have a beautiful outdoor bar and patio and you sit right on the water. The food is incredible and the pricing is very good. I have tried a lot of different items and have never had a bad meal. They also have live music on occasion. Excellent food and the dining area is very clean. Had the three piece chicken dinner which allows you to pick three of the pieces served and extra breast at no extra charge. Mac and cheese and green beans as sides were also with the meal and very good. My wife had the 8 ounce sirloin and stated it was very good. I ordered a plater of waffle fries with cheese bacon and onions. Let me tell you it was a meal in its self. Staff was friendly but seemed over whelmed and it took a very long time to get our check and still waiting for her to pick it up. First time visiting. Staff were accommodating and nice. Good sized food portions. The food was good. However It was nothing to be excited about. A one and done visit for me. I would say the only highlight would be feeding the fish. For a couple of quarters, you get less than a handful of fish food. Toss it in and see the large fish gather and fight for food. I have not eaten here since I was a kid, and I knew they had closed and reopened at some point over the years. I came to eat here one evening with a friend, and they did not disappoint. We had Shrimp Scampi as an appetizer, and it was good. I was trying to save room for my meal. I ordered the Patty Melt Sandwich and Onion Rings and Coke Zero. All of it was delicious. They had a big crowd that evening, so they did not disappoint anyone. The service was great, and the waitress was very nice. If you are looking for a great atmosphere with good homestyle meals, this is the place. The service was excellent, we sat outside by the lake and watched the fish and turtles while we waited for our meals. I had the Walleye meal and it was great. The fish was not overcooked or overly greasy. The other meal was the county fried steak with mashed potatoes and Mac and cheese. Everything was great. Breakfast with a nature view. I ate my breakfast today on the newish patio at Lakeview. It was very pleasant relaxing, watching the fish and turtles swim about as I ate. Great atmosphere to start your day on. My 4 stars is a disappointment to me. The very first time I ate biscuits and gravy under the current ownership it was delicious. Today is was simply edible, but certainly not great. I did not ask for details, but the menu proclaiming made fresh daily does not say homemade or from scratch. I suspect it is made from a pre made mix from both the appearance and taste. There were reddish little pieces of what I presume was sausage but the flavor was hard to distinguish. A mix can be made daily so if that is the case the menu is not wrong but leads you to think it is scratch made. This restaurant has the atmosphere and service down pat. I hope they get the food up to the same standard. read more

Been here a couple of times over the past year or so (since it reopened). Place is nice and clean and our breakfast has always been good and service is decent. The front hostess/kids seemed a little annoyed to have to seat us (each time we were there... just not really friendly), but it's not the end of the world. The servers are better, though! This was my first time stopping into Lakeview since the recently opened. The remodel that they have done really brightened it up, and made it very welcoming. The service is very good, and just like the building very welcoming! I enjoyed the Cod sandwich minus the bun and it was very good. The fish was not over greasy, and was nice and crunchy. I grew up in nearby Connersville, which offers pretty much no decent food, or at least a very small selection of. I was home for the holidays and my dad recommended we come to Lakeview restaurant for fish on Friday. I grew up coming to this place occasionally and did not have a very good memory of it. I will say that the place has been very nicely updated inside, In the food has been improved by quite a bit. The fried cod was really pretty decent. I was not a fan of their homemade tartar sauce as it was too sweet for me. Waitress was fairly friendly. The peanut butter pie that I had for dessert was the best part of the meal. Also forgot to mention that the dill chips and onion rings we had as appetizers were also pretty decent. read more

Thankfully they tasted better than they looked! I was disappointed to say the least. Hadn't been here in quite a while was okay but nothing to make me go back. Since then they've changed owners done some fixing up. So we've been back since the change of hands. Very big difference. This place looks like a hole in the wall and not much going for it, but holy smokes, is it ever good!! There are so many things I like about this place. They give the kids little brown paper bags filled with bread so they can go outside and feed the fish and ducks. My two boys (5 & 3) loved this!! The staff is so friendly and welcoming. They all pitch in the help each other out and no matter what you need, someone is there to help. I recently started Weight Watchers and have been very careful about what I eat. I saw that they offered grilled or fried shrimp and pan-seared scallops as an add-on to their entrees. I asked if I could just order these as my meal and add a potato and green beans and they said not a problem. I was floored. I will be sure to come back as my kiddos really loved this place and so did we! read more

I used to come here as a young girl with my parents. It has recently been updated and made to look a little more contemporary. I thought the gray was very becoming and made a marked difference from mt memories of the "country blue" look. I went about 4:30 and it was starting to get quite busy. I went on a sad note because my mom just recently died and so I wanted to go somewhere we always enjoyed from my childhood. I know she would have enjoyed this trip as well. I had my old standby Breaded Tenderloin and it was very tender, no grissle at all. My server was friendly and it was a pleasant dinner. I was sad to learn last year that Lakeview was closing, although not entirely surprised. The last time we went, the food was subpar and the prices seemed out of proportion. I remember this restaurant in its heyday, when you had to stand in line on a Sunday after church and wait to get a table. And then, of course, you had to go out and feed the ducks. We found ourselves not in the mood for another trip to No 9 Grill after church last Sunday (nothing wrong with it; just a little burnt out), and not really feeling Mexican or Subway either. My husband suggested trying Lakeview again. I was a little dubious - I had to send back my turkey sandwich the last time because the meat looked... expired, to put it nicely. But we figured, hey, new owners, local business, we should give it a try. I am so glad we did. I was impressed from the moment we walked in - it's been completely and tastefully redone on the inside. A hostess immediately greeted us when we arrived and showed us to a table. One thing that hasn't changed is that most of the patrons are well beyond qualifying for AARP. I think this has always been known as a "old folks" restaurant, but I'm under the impression they're trying to transcend that. We noticed on the way in that they were advertising live music on Saturday night. They've changed the menu extensively, if not completely overhauled it. They were also running some specials on sandwiches, advertise on a board in the front lobby... I went with the Frisco Burger with a side of deep fried banana peppers, because... deep fried banana peppers. My husband ordered the beef Manhattan, my mother-in-law got the chicken strips salad, and we ordered the grilled cheese kids meal with a side of green beans for our three-year-old. Everything was excellent. The service was good, the prices were decent and the food all tasted homemade and the portions were generous. So generous that we could only gaze in wonder at the gigantic, beautiful desserts in the pie case behind us. I plan on coming back in here just for the gourmet Ding-Dongs (WHAAAAT). I am so thrilled that Lakeview is getting a second chance. I've been recommending it to everyone I know, especially if they remember its heyday and its demise. If you happen to find yourself cruising down U.S. 40 just west of Cambridge City, Indiana, it's definitely worth stopping here. It's true it's definitely where all the old people go. well because it's traditional american food served no fuss and cheap. great Manhattans and great home made pie! My personal favorite the peanut butter is to die for. It's extremely busy on Sunday lunch's which is of course when my family goes. After hearing that Lakeview had re-opened for business and hearing that the food was very good we decided to take a chance and alter our weekend dining habit of local haunts. I must admit when we arrived I was a little skeptical as it was near dinner time and the parking lot had only a few cars. I was pleasantly surprised upon entering the restaurant that the place was clean and the interior was completely renovated. We were promptly seated by a very nice young hostess with a pleasant greeting and a professional appearance. There were about 2 or 3 tables that were occupied and the remaining tables were empty. Which supported my initial concern of the restaurants popularity. After being seated, as I perused the menu the hand breaded tenderloin (one of my personal favorites) caught my eye! The server confirmed that they were indeed hand breaded on premises and freshly made to order! SOLD! My wife settled on the 1/2 beef Manhattan with green beans as a side. My side order was Onion Rings. Our drink order was taken and delivered almost immediately. They had a small selection of domestic beer in bottle only. Our choice was the old faithful "iced tea". Our server took our order and our food was delivered to the table quickly. My tenderloin was served with tomato, lettuce, pickle, onion and mayo. Unfortunately I ordered it specifically with pickle only! But the tenderloin was as described, hand breaded and freshly made. The onion rings were very good as was my tenderloin. My wife's 1/2 beef Manhattan was also as expected and was very good. My wife was happy with her decision to order only 1/2, as the portions are large and the full order would have been more then the average person wanted. The server periodically checked on us to see if there was anything we needed. While your there, try one of the homemade desserts f! We selected the peanut butter cheesecake, it was GREAT! Now as for our server, she was somewhat edgy in her choice of personal appearance, but still not so much so that it was unprofessional for her job. She was very chatty and that's when her inexperience was most noticeable. It was painfully obvious from watching that she was new to the restaurant and had some nervousness issues. As was confirmed by her in conversation. She had been employed by the restaurant less then 1 week. So that was to be expected. As we were enjoying our meal, a steady stream of people started to fill the dining areas and before long, the restaurant was nearly filled to capacity. My earlier concerns were erased as the place was very busy from that point forward and remained busy until we departed the restaurant. The food was good, service was adequate and the price was very reasonable. It was a pleasant experience overall and with the new interior decor, layout and view of the Lake while dining added to the experience. Decent place to eat. Nice atmosphere and clean. Haven't had anything that has stood out. Small portions, a meal doesn't fill me up. It is not real expensive though. All you can eat fish on Fridays. Haven't had the chance to try that yet. Would recommend if looking for something different than fast food. read more
