Sorry, but I have no idea who could be reviewing this place! My daughter got breakfast food. Literally the scrambled eggs had a slice of cheese from a package layed on top, the bacon crunchy and zero flavor. The ribs my granddaughter got taste like mothballs and vinegar. Never to return. During covid, the area is plenty spaced to allow for social distancing and the facility is very clean. The menu is vast and they have weekly special. I was so pleased to see chocolate gravy, I had not had it since I was a child from my grandmother. Their gravy did not disappoint. However, the biscuits were mediocre. You can tell it was a big pan of biscuits made on a cookie sheet and cut- was not a fan of the flavor or texture. I tried part of the omelette my partner was eating, and it was great. First off, don't be fooled when you drive up and it's at the end of a strip mall. It's name makes you think you are going to a little historical building. It's not...but don't fret. Four of us stopped in for a late lunch/early dinner. Our waitress, Kim, was happy and friendly. We discussed the Beef Manhattan but all opted for sandwiches - but looked wonderful as it was delivered to nearby patrons. The Reuben sandwich was very good - tender cornbeef and the sauerkraut was drained properly so the marbled rye bread was not soggy. The only thing that would cause it to get a '9' would have been I like it toasted a tad more. One order a simple grilled cheese and for his side got the green beans - which were a '10' because they were seasoned perfectly with bacon onions and soft like they been cooked for a good long time. The onion rings were soooo good! A '10' - lightly beer battered and good greasy - perfectly cooked! The other couple decided on the Pork Tenderloin sandwich. They split it because it comes with two buns! Yes, it's that big. They opted for the side of home fries - similar to cottage fries. It lacked nothing. For dessert it was true homemade pies. Butterscotch was NOT pudding! It was cooked custard-type. Very good. The peanut butter pie was not this diner's favorite dessert but looked scrumptious. This is one of the most popular restaurants in New Castle. It is always busy and for a good reason. The food is always fresh and always good. They have a very extensive menu and many different options to choose from. I did notice that some items have been taken off the menu since Covid hit. This is most likely a cost saving strategy. I have not had anything that I would not get again. The staff are always busy, but at the same time they are very nice. Everything that I have tried on the menu I have enjoyed. The one downfall has recently been the price increases on the menu items. Of course, this is not necessarily their fault because the cost of everything has gone up. On Friday's, they have all you can eat fried chicken or fried fish. They are both very good. I have gotten both of them many different times. I also really like their breakfast items even though I am not a big breakfast fan. Even though I've never gotten the pancakes myself, my spouse gets them almost every time they are humongous and you get a gigantic portion. I am more of a biscuits and gravy person, so that is what I typically get. One of my absolute favorite things to get from here is actually the grilled chicken Cobb salad. The salad is so big that you cannot finish it in one meal. Unfortunately, like I have said, I know longer get this because of the cost. It is almost $15-$16 for the salad. Even though the salad is wonderful, I just cannot think of spending that price on a salad, which I could make it home for 1/3 of the price. I do highly recommend the ranch dressing if you are a ranch dressing enthusiast like I am I really enjoy dipping my fries in the ranch. Again, I would highly recommend giving this place a try because of the great atmosphere and the amazing food. We went back for ribs. The food was good what there was of it. A half rack of ribs is between 6 to 7 ribs depending on the size of the ribs. Today I ordered a half rack and received 4 ribs. When I mentioned it to the waitress she said that the owner had cut do on portions. With the meal was suppose to come with 2 sides. So I ordered 2 side salads just like we always did. I was charged .49 extra for both salads and another $1.00 for an extra plate. So much for the 2 sides with the meal. The waitress never refilled our drinks while we ate. Never even asked if we wanted more drinks. Not a good idea. We have came here for several years for their baby back ribs. And usually received at least 6 ribs. I may have to find another place for my ribs. Sad situation when we have to deal with this type of service during a "plandemic". read more

First visit was disgusting!!! The waitress we had took 20 min to ask about drinks, then took 15 min to bring them to us! Then just walked away! It went on and we complained! One of us got our meal comped, one complained about cold meal and they did nothing for her! Well, I gave it a second chance, that waitress was not there, nor that manager! Oh how I have waited for this moment to finally review restaurants locally and Park Restaurant is at the top of my list. I started coming here when it was half the size it is now and they were still getting their footing in this small town. I have brought friends, family, children and even just myself at times so I can speak freely when I say this is one of the best restaurants in New Castle Indiana. Have you ever arrived in a restaurant and looked around at the drab deco or the wait staff that has disdain written all over their face and demeanor plus the food potentially coming out either to processed or over flavored? Not here you will not at least in my personal opinion and I can say between the 30 + people I brought here with me over the years we have tried every item offered either by menu or by daily specials. The Chicken club melt is humongous , tasty and one of my top favorites. DISCLAIMER: If you attempt the whole sandwich be prepared to having an extremely full stomach. We stopped for breakfast on our way out of Indy toward the East Coast on I-70. It seems to be very popular with locals, who were welcomed like family. We noticed many people didn't even need menus. The staff was very friendly with everyone, including out-of-towners like us. The entrance is a little strange. You enter through a door on the side of the building not the front. Once inside you are surrounded by Americana/country decor on all of the walls. Seating was all tables, mostly 4-tops. The chairs were comfortable. They do have a limited menu, but all the food we had was done very well. The sausage patty was excellent. It was a generous size and had great seasoning. The pancakes were fluffy, but the syrup was Smuckers pre-packaged tubs. The scrambled eggs were just ok. The fried potatoes were recommended and we're ok, but lacked seasoning. We thought the hash browns were as good if not better. The Cowboy Omelette was very good. All the ingredients were chopped small enough to enjoy them all in each bite. The biscuits and gravy were great. Fluffy biscuits and a generous amount of gravy that wasn't skimpy on the sausage pieces. All of this for very good prices. It's a good thing we don't live closer. Surprising place for one of the best, most tender rib eyes I've had outside a prime steakhouse (consistantly). Daily specials to keep the mix going, and Fridays have all-you-can-eat chicken and fish options. Wednesdays, Cecil will make you a burrito spicy enough to think you're no longer in Indiana. What a hidden gem. Never new this place existed. Comfort food at its best. I had the pork chops with mashed potatos with gravy and green beans and sweet roll..Oh my, the pork chops were delicious, dont know what the seasoning was but yum. All in all my first visit to the Park Restaurant was a good one. My mother had the Beef Manhattan and said the beef was very tender and lean and the gravy was quite tasty. My dad had the rib special and he said the meat was fall off the bone tender. I feasted on their Famous Tenderloin and it was nicely breaded, very tender and HUGE! I also really enjoyed my tater tots as a side because they were nice and crisp. The only real negative was the frigid air that chilled the place every time the door was opened by guest. The place has high ceilings with metal and tiled floors abd with the constant outside air it was very cold for a comfortable dining experience. I know this is their first winter so I am sure they will address the cold air. I would give the Park a thumbs up for good homestyle cooking. read more

Large portions, fast and friendly service! My personal favorite is the patty melt and an order of onion rings. Their onion rings come in one size - BIG! And they are delicious. The breading is a bit flaky with just the right amount of seasoning. Make sure to get an order for the table to share! The patty melt is a perfect flat top burger with awesome flavor. I tried the club sandwich on my last trip and it was also huge. The meat and cheese portions were very generous and it tasted great. I am giving this a two, but honestly, I am being generous I think. I had the special for Thurs which is the slab of ribs. I ate them because I was being taken out for my birthday and I wanted to be polite to my host. They were short ribs to begin with so deceiving for the price and description. I would be okay with that if they were good, but they are not. They do not see a grill or smoker it is obvious by the appearance and the falling off the bone texture. I would say they are boiled or cooked in a crock pot with sauce poured on before serving. You can also tell they do not anticipate the good grilled bone chewing diners since they do not serve wet naps, or a cloth with warm water to get off the sauce after you eat your ribs. The crockpot style cooking method makes for easy fork consumption. I also got a vinegar aroma with the sauce, yet it was not good like the southern yellow barbeque sauce that uses mustard and vinegar as a base which I do like. It was a red sauce with a hint of vinegar on the nose which was not appetizing. I did have some very tasty fried potatoes as a side. However, the girl that helped my server drop our food was wearing a black stringy bracelet. As she reached across my plate to serve the person sitting next to me her stringy, ratty bracelet drug across my fried potatoes. I would have said something to my server if I had been by myself and not a guest. To not offend my host, I discreetly pushed the top layer off, and tried to eat some that were on the portion of the pIle her bracelet did not drag over. First of all, she should have not reached over, but instead walked to the to the other side of the table to serve from behind right shoulder for proper serving etiquette, or at least used that side of the table. Secondly, stringy bracelets should not be worn as a proactive policy to make sure oF sanitary conditions. Our actual server was friendly and the overall experience with speed and accuracy were all good. I think management needs to address serving attire and board of health standards for starters. Secondly, if you are going to put a regular specIal on the menu I would invest in the best cooking method equipment or specify on the menu the cooking method to avoid disappointment to the customer that is not familiar with the restaurant. I am sure since New Castle has very few dining options they think they are safe in retaining diners no matter the quality or conditions. I would think if they strove for great service and quality they could draw from miles around. This diner will be in no hurry to ever return I can tell you which is too bad. I love mom and pops when you leave wanting more no matter how simple the meal because it is really good and reminds you of grandmas cooking. read more
