Got a quote from Paul to clear our side yard and pour a concrete patio (about half the amount of another quote for the same work) on a Friday. He and his crew were here 4 days later on Tuesday, right on time, ready to work. They did a great job!! Start to finish, the job took about 5 hours. It looks great!! We're super happy with how it turned out. Paul even accommodated our gate guy and waited for him to arrive to hash out how our gate would be installed so that it wouldn't mess up the new concrete. I cannot say enough about both, Lakewood Contracting and the owner Paul. I had a very unique driveway job in which I needed a specific slope, a specific change in elevation, and wings (sides) had to have a separate elevation and an immediate bevel to optimize the driveway width. It was a tall order, and Paul never flinched at the challenge. His team pulled this off in two days, covering almost 300 square feet, and achieved the slope and elevations to perfection. The team was polite, professional, and left no trace of their presence, other than a perfect driveway and a very satisfied customer. The objective of this job was to be able to enter the driveway with my motor home and not require any cribbing to keep from bottoming out while transitioning from the contour of the street to the previous slope of the driveway. If anyone has a similar challenge, or simply wants a fantastic contractor, Paul and Lakewood Contracting will not let you down. I feel so lucky to have found Paul and his team. I highly recommend them, and would most definitely hire them again if the need ever arises. For this project, our goal was to widen our narrow driveway. He gave me a quote, and was very patient with all my "what would be the price if we also did this" add-ons; Paul even came out a second time to quote for the scenario that had us ripping out the old and starting from scratch. (I think it's notable that this was my idea, not his: He did not pressure us in any way to increase our budget. He seemed content to do whatever job we felt we needed.) Ultimately, I'm glad we decided to do an entire overhaul: It was reasonably priced and the finished product is stunning. (I never thought I'd use that word on concrete, but there it is... no takebacks.) From the concrete support blocks under the rebar, to the control joints that are both functional and beautiful from even a design stand-point, to the stamped concrete pedestrian path, to the clean-up and attention to detail after the job was done, I was grateful and impressed by him and the well-oiled machine that is his skilled team. Hiring a contractor can be a stressful experience, but Paul put me at ease all along the way--always responsive, informative, and reassuring. Unprompted, he even gave me a receipt for my records that proved they poured the concrete with the upgraded psi I requested. (Talk about trustworthy!) Came out promptly, gave me fair quote, did the job the next day, then when I was to hose down the sidewalk I notice it drains EXACTLY WHERE I TOLD HIM NOT TO PUT THE DRAIN. Now when it rains I will have a swamp there. He sent his worker out and I heard the worker that he put the drain towards the grass.............the exact place he was asked not to do.......So now I am stuck with this... He has a tattoo that said He Was Saved By Grace.......so I thought he would be a Christian and do the right thing.
