Been going to Lam Auto Service for years getting oil changes for multiple vehicles. But I will not be going back ever! So I had to get a replacement caliper for my car and in the process, the owner Lam I assume convinced me get replacement brake pads. I had pads that were under warranty from autozone which they switch out no questions asked when it was covered under warranty. I agreed to the replacement and a week later, there was issues with the pads they provided, it literally was already metal to metal grinding with the pads and rotor. I went back to the shop to talk to Lam about it, and what does the POS tell me, he said I should've got the pads from the dealer, but not before he takes my money with his crappy pads. This guy should be out of business, what a rip off! Anything beyond a oil change from the place I would strongly recommend you stay away from the place. read more

It's Sunday Mother's Day and they're open! Last minute life saver on a bad wheel. Needed to change a good tire off a bad wheel and on to a good wheel. Only asked $30 for both request. My rims were damaged and they couldn't guarantee the integrity of the tire pressure. We said why not let's give it a try. It worked! So relieved that they were willing to try and not rip us off. This lam auto shop has been overcharging me---charging me for services that weren't performed. Firstly, they took my money's but never installed the new oil filter and insisted that I needed a new filter, charged me for it, the mechanic never replaced it. What worse than going getting ripped off for a fake repairs? The mechanic try to busted my hoses so I could repaired the hoses and clamps. And yet, the mechanic try to charges me more than $100.0 for the clamps. To make matters worse, they came up with a list of repairs with outrageous prices. This shop is very dishonest, steal from you, lied to, taken advantage of women, and have your car held hostage. Always overcharged their customers and won't give you a receipt. Stay away! read more

Came here all the way from NorCal with my maintenance light on. Felt nervous and heard from my friend this is where she gets her oil changed! No wait and it took about 20-25 minutes! Checked my break pads, air filter, added wiper fluid, and added air to my tires. So nice of them. 25$ for about 5,000 miles and they said 18$ for about 3,000 miles. I drive a 2011 Toyota rav4. Today, Mr. Lam lost a client for good. I've been going to LAM Auto Repair for almost 2 years for both my Accord and Civic. I was there earlier today with my Civic and spent $80 ($30 oil change, $20 filter and $30 for cabin filter). I spoke with Sonny who told me that it would be $50 for the 2 filters, I quickly looked up on Amazon and saw that I could buy both for $33. But wanting to support a local business and understanding that a business has to make money, I agreed to pay the $50. While Sonny quickly worked on the cabin filter, I asked him how much he'd charge to change wiper blades. He said $15 for the driver side and $10 for passenger side. Then I asked him how much he'd charge if I were to bring him the materials. He said he'd just do it free since it's relatively easy. I went to Costco and bought a #19 and #26 Goodyear wiper blades for $7.99 a piece. Went back to Lam auto and Sonny wasn't there. But the boss, Mr. Lam wouldn't honor the deal and said he was paying Sonny and that nothing was free. He wanted to charge me $10 but I mentioned that I spent $80 a few hours before at their location. He dropped it to $5, then I told him that I had no cash and asked if I could use plastic. His price went up again to $10, then dropped again to $8. Wow...what a lousy way to run a business. I'm never taking any car back to LAM Auto Repair due to Mr. Lam's unethical way of conducting a business, I will also spread the word to avoid this place like a plague. This place is.. just A-OK. I like to come here because they're open on Sundays and they provide fairly quick service. The most important reason why is because they're close to my house. No wait you say? I'm there in less than 2 minutes! However, they've told me over the phone that I can come immediately over to have my oil changed.. only to have me find out that the guy who does their oil change just woke up and needs 30 minutes to come over. Not cool, and makes me hesitant about getting service in the morning (this was around 9:30am). I'm charged $15 for an oil change for my 2007 Toyota Matrix. Not too bad, though it's not the marketed $11.99 but I don't make too big of a fuss. As long as I don't have to do it, I don't mind too much. Unless they try to pull another "we're ready for you" and then I'm met with "I need 30 more minutes." My advice: don't go too early, and make an appointment if possible. read more

My family would always recommend me this place for my auto needs. First off, I brought my car here for an oil change - $18 for 3,000 miles and $25 for 5,000 miles. Not too bad. -They checked the threads and my tire pressure -They found a nail in my rear tire and offered to extra and fill it in with gel for a little over $10, probably 15 or something like that, but was told after that I didn't need the filling, awesome! I opted for the latter option, of which they charge a $1 fee in addition to the oil change if you use your debit card. All in all -Friendly staff -It might be a bit pricier than some auto service shops in the area, but they do offer more for their services than the other shops. -Service was fairly quick. read more

Really decent place. Been here twice, first time to get an oil change and they were very accommodating. It was actually based on my dad's recommendation. Second time was today getting a brake change. I would suggest calling in and making an appointment just to check if they're busy but they'll work you in as soon as possible. Quick and very efficient. My boyfriend told me to bring my car here because it is close by. My car was making a weird noise. The mechanic said it was the timing belt that needed to be changed. I called my boyfriend and he told the mechanic that the timing belt doesn't need to be changed for another 40k. The mechanic insisted it was the timing belt. I left and decided to get another quote from another mechanic the next day. On the following day, while I was driving my car it totally broke down. It was the transmission. Lam Auto service got it wrong. It wasn't the timing belt at all. I rated it a two star because it was the mechanic that gave me the wrong information and not the owner. read more

My family and I have been coming to Lam's auto service for the past few years. We never had any issues with them doing maintenance on any of our vehicles. Recently I had my brakes, rotors, and oil change done on 2/9/19. We paid cash $490 since Michael stated that if we pay my card, the amount would be higher. They didn't give us an invoice and I figured it would be ok since we are long time customers. A week later on 2/16/19 someone totaled my car and I had informed my attorney of the recent maintenance that I had done and that I would need an itemized invoice so that the insurance company would reimburse partial for the brakes and rotors. Went to Lam's to request for a copy of the invoice so that I can submit it to my attorney and now they're stating that they don't remember doing maintenance on my GX460! I still have the tag on my keychain that Michael had written $490 and my number on the back so that he can call me once the car was done as proof. Joe is stating that he does not have records of me taking my car to their shop which is a lie. They never gave us an invoice because if they get audited, there will be proof that the books don't balance! I can't believe that after being long time customers, they are gonna be shady with us! Michael even told my mom that they only give invoices within 2 days of doing service and that after that it's our loss. According to the BAR (California bureau of automobiles repair) they have to keep all records of a minimum of 3 years. If anyone has any issues with Lam's auto service, please report them to BBB and to the BAR! If you do report them, please remember to include their license# 273065. All new customers needing any sort of maintenance done, I would highly recommend that you guys save yourself the trouble and go to a different auto repair shop. This shop is unethical and cannot be trusted! There are also other helpers complaining of this repair shop and now I understand why. read more

I wouldn't recommend anyone to drive here to repair punctured repairable tires when they charge $30, as I experienced when Michael Lam insisted I come in over the phone. He would not quote me, as I know all honest repair shops would easily quote over the phone. I even asked how his shop does the repair to determine if he would describe the proper repair. In person, he said his shop "can't remove the tire from the rim" to do the job, which is very ridiculous for any auto repair shop--how do they install new tires on wheels??--manually with a long screwdriver?? Based on my conversation with him, he thought he can get my business just because I drove in and, at the same time, not telling the truth, thinking I'm an unknowledgeable car person. I decided to pass on the job after I informed him I'm not paying for his exorbitant pricing although he tried to lower it, and wait until Monday when all regular shops, including my regular one, open. Also, when I drove into the shop the first time, my impression was negative when I observed a lone very young worker in shorts and sneakers working on a customer's car, and another customer waiting out in the open sitting on an outdoor chair. My friend recommended this place for oil change but after reading some reviews on Yelp about this place, I was scared and doubtful about the service here too. But I still went there to get my oil change anyway since it's pretty cheap. I got oil change of advanced synthetic oil for $40, tire rotation for $15. The total of everything is $55 + $5 tip. The man named Micheal who helped me with oil change and tire rotation is pretty nice & friendly. Changing oil filter is also included in the fee, he also helped me to refill the windshield wipers fluid for my car and it's free. He took good care of my car. I can see there are a lots of bad reviews due to some reasons, maybe we all have different experience here, but for me Lam's Auto Service delivered a good customer service, and I am satisfied. I have no regrets and I trust 100% Lam's Auto Service is going to improve more on their services. Will come back next time! read more

Gave this shop several opportunities to work on my vehicle. I knew they installed the wrong side as each part has a specific part number. I was advised to let the mechanics do their job.. "they are master mechanics". I went to another shop because my car didn't feel right and they alerted me that the parts were not installed to the corresponding side. Second time they quoted me that my vehicle needed xx parts but a trusted shop told me that's incorrect and wouldn't fix the problem I'm having. Why bring a car to be repaired if you're going to play trial and error and bill me? I'd rather spend the extra dollar and make sure it's done correctly. read more
