Each dental area has a television on the wall and ceiling with Roku imagery, a nice distraction. You view fish of all types (yellow, blue, green, puffy, tiger) swimming around bright coral. The most attractive part about Enamel Dentistry is my doctor, Dr. Patel. She is very caring and takes acute interest in any dental issue you may be having. Also, if a dental issue is not her expertise, she will refer you to a specialist and discuss with you her opinion and the next steps after the dental results come in. Importantly, she talks in non-dental language...information that the average person can understand. Today when I walked in, I was pleasantly greeted by the receptionist team, which made me feel right at home. Today I was in for a 6-month standard cleaning. First step, blood pressure and temperature check, which they were doing even before covid. It gives the effect of a total body check. First, the dental assistant, Anna, polished and flossed my teeth. My hygienist, Jeff, meticulously cleaned my teeth, and I saw Dr. Patel at the end of my visit for an overall exam. Important to note, Enamel Dentistry now charges a 3.5% charge for use of an credit card. So come prepared with a Debit card, if you do not want to incur a fee. I am beginning to see this trend more and more especially at small businesses. From a dental perspective, nothing of significance to report...no change in my dental health. So I was on my merry way.

Every time I'm there I notice how happy all her patients are. She's been my dentist for several years now and I've found her and her staff to be one of the most efficiently run offices I've ever seen. When I call, I get the receptionist and can get an appointment very quickly. If they're extremely busy they'll put me on the waitlist. And they always call me whenever there's a cancellation and get me in as soon as possible. I actually look forward to my appointments with Dr. Guirguis. Before coming to her, I never looked forward to seeing my dentist. All the dental hygienists that work for her are amazing. They're patient and extremely adept at their job. Early on, they pushed me to get a crown that I may not have needed. It seems they ground it down too far, because it kept falling off, and it's fallen off again, for the third time, I know they will "repair" the crown again, but I simply have no confidence in them to fix it properly. After three botched attempts (by three different dentists), their incompetence is clear. I only chose them because they were close by and in my network. Now I'm paying the price. I've actually been a patient of Emily Ryu, DDS (her maiden name was Abbott) for many years but I used to go to her when she was at the Carus Dental location in Georgetown..yep, folks I live in north Austin but would drive to Georgetown just to see Dr. Ryu..I'm telling you she's a great dentist! Well, lucky me Dr. Ryu is now at the Carus Dental in North Austin & I just had my 1st visit at this Carus location on 2/6/2019 & I am so happy to report that Dr. Ryu is still her awesome self..she is so personable, very thorough, & does a great job explaining my treatment plan. The hygienist I had was named Christina and she was the perfect energy for me! You know how some hygienist talk too much, or hurt you while cleaning your teeth, or try to shame you if you're overdue on your cleaning?..well, Christina was none of those things..she was gentle and just put me at ease. The office staff at this location were all very nice & helpful. Oh, and the best part..they offer Saturday appointments! Over a two-day period, I was scheduled at Castle Dental for a deep cleaning...technically known as…read moreScaling and Root Planing. This deep cleaning is a more intensive procedure than a standard cleaning and is typically recommended when a dentist finds pockets between your teeth and gums. My deep cleaning was broken down by Castle Dental into two appointments (Wed top teeth and May bottom teeth) to manage comfort and numbing. First the hygienist used a topical anesthetic to numb my gums using a Q-tip with numbing solution and then the dentist injected another anesthetic into my gums...about 8 pricks. Then, the hygienist used an ultrasonic scaler to remove plaque and tartar from the tooth surface and below the gumline. Next she used a metal tool to remove any plaque and tartar not caught by the ultrasonic scaler. She also did root planing, which smooths out the roots of your teeth. This helps the gum tissue reattach to the tooth and makes it harder for bacteria to grow in these areas in the future. My teeth were flossed by the hygienist. Finally, antibiotics were inserted into the gum pockets. The first day the process took about one hour. The process is expensive, but appears to be necessary.
