I moved out of town, but every time I come home, it's a MUST that I stop by Lamar's. I can't believe how expensive they have gotten. Their donuts never, ever disappoint. You can't go wrong with the original glazed and the devils food without the frosting. Service is really good, only downfall is, and I've seen this a couple times, the ladies taking the orders will also cash their customer out. They will take cash, and go back to handling food. We all know that's not sanitary. Please wash your hands every time after handling cash. It keeps everyone safe. read more

Our baby's daycare introduced me to LaMar's. It was absolutely delicious! The man behind the counter was welcoming, helpful & boy is he quick. Actually thankful that they don't have a drive thru. The donuts here are pretty good! I once met Mr. Lamar and I asked him the secret to their delicious icing on the chocolate longjohns. He told me it was an incredible secret: they actually used real chocolate. Not imitation flavoring. A chocolate longjohns are still my favorite. You gotta go or they won't have any in stock. My favorite employee of three years is no longer with Lamar's. I can't help but feel a bit disappointed. He brought real value to the place and made people feel heard. It's frustrating to see someone with that much potential go. It feels different without him--quieter, less dynamic, in my opinion. This is the second time I've had a bad experience with this location. Today I payed for a dozen crueller donuts online, when I got home I looked in the box and there were only 8 donuts so I had to drive all the way back and asked why my card was charged almost $40 for a dozen (which is expensive for a dozen donuts) when I only received 8. The guy at the counter said that they ran out of the cruller donuts so they would refund me the difference. Why on earth would you guys not communicate that to me when I first came in to pick up the donuts? When I came in to pick them up, I should've been told that you guys ran out of the donuts and would either replace them with 4 other donuts or refunded my card. I will be keeping an eye on my account and making sure I get refunded for the 4 donuts I never received. I would not recommended this location. read more

Same guy is there everyday, at least every time I come, lucky for a business to find such a reliable employee. So many people don't want to wake up that early, let alone be cheery and kind every time, even when im indecisive. Hope he is treated like family. Hard to find someone who cares to show up. He definitely deserves appreciation. I messed that up before and lost a great employee. Comfortable salary, time off, benefits keep people around. The man at the counter was very nice. I purchased 2 donuts and they were terrible. I haven't had one for about 15 years. I remember them being the best donuts ever. I'm not sure what happened. They had a very small selection too. They were really expensive too. I'm not sure what the return policy is on donuts, but I drove from Lee's Summit to Blue Springs to share with my mom, so I don't think that caused them to be stale. Very disappointing. read more

What has happened to the quality of Lamar's donuts in Lees Summit? They may need to borrow the baker from Blue Springs. Quality keeps going downhill and I notice the answer from the owner/manager is always canned so I am not even sure they are reading the problems people are running into. Lamar's is our go to for donuts. The last few times have been hit or miss, but this one was so disappointing! It started with the service. The young guy working was so nice and helpful to the person in front of me. The female working that helped me, not so much. She was rude to the guy working, then was no better to me. She missed one of the donuts I asked for (only had 4), then when I caught it at checkout, she acted put out. She then rang out 4 reg, 1 specialty. When I mentioned that was one too much, she tapped the screen and never spoke to me again, even after I said thank you and told her to have a good day. The donuts were good, but quality control was way off (sizes). We got the smallest Lamar's bar and glazed by far. Not a big deal, unless they are so much smaller than the rest! Price for what we got was not worth it. We will definitely be driving to another Lamar's moving forward, longer drive and all. read more

When this location opened it was run by older ladies snd the product was a lot like the original Lamars We haven't been there for a very long while and when we stopped at 10:00 am Saturday everything looked noticeably different. All young people working and the donuts looked different. We got a cinnamon roll and a couple glazed. They were horrible! The icing was grainy and they were all wet like they were old. I wanted to say something about my experience this morning at 6:15am. I guess I was not clear enough when I placed my order with the lady behind the counter and for that I do apologize. I was ordering two dozen donuts with holes and I guess I must have said two dozen donut holes, as she started to fill my order I noticed that she was grabbing donut holes and I told her that I wanted donuts with holes. Now I understand that working behind the counter can be frustrating, however the eye rolling and the way you talk to someone "so you want the donuts with holes!!" needs to be controlled. On a whim I tried LaMar's Donuts this morning. It's was so overpriced and underwhelming. I will not be going back. The staff were polite enough. The store was clean. There were plenty of donuts, even at around 10 am on a Monday. I had a chocolate Long John with white fluff. The fluff was sickening sweet. Basically cake icing, at least that's what it tasted like. The donut was super soft. That part I liked. The chocolate icing on top was OK. Nothing I haven't tried. It was a very long donut but still overpriced. The other donut I tried was the German Chocolate twist. This was just too much. The icing tasted like pineapple coconut icing. Again, the donut itself was soft. It was another large sized donut. I think I tried a few bites of each and discarded the rest. For $8 one would expect more out of two donuts. At least I know now. I probably would have been better off with a tried and true glazed or old fashioned. Even still, the prices are much too high. read more

This particular Lamar's franchise location is not as good as the one in Blue Springs (State Route 7), and pales in comparison to the original downtown. Their selection and quality is consistently average, so you'll know what to expect each time you visit. Or perhaps they're simply trying to lull us into a false sense of security, and then one day they'll unveil unveil a brand new chocolate long john filled with ground beef. Safe bets include the standard glazed, lemon-filled, blueberry cake, and creme-filled long johns. Do NOT UNDER ANY CIRCUMSTANCES order the white fluff-filled long johns! Each one of those contains enough sugar to disintegrate every single diabetic who has ever lived. I don't know what "white fluff" is; I couldn't even find it on the periodic table. Perhaps it's the antagonist from the 1985 Hollywood blockbuster, "The Stuff." read more

Very disappointed in Lamar's today. To make it easier on the gal I just said to give me 2 dozen assorted donuts, when I opened the box to put out the donuts I have the most aweful box of cake donuts, one glazed donut and one iced chocolate donut . We were meeting with some folks and were responsible for breakfast so we decided to make a stop for donuts. I'm not a huge donut fan and my husband thinks that nothing compares to Round Rock Donuts back home, but it is what it is. We picked up 10 regular glazed, two chocolate glazed, one cherry iced with sprinkles and one chocolate iced with crushed M&M's on top. The total was just over $15. Holy cow that's expensive. I can't tell you the last time I paid over $1 per donut. Anyway, the chocolate glazed were for me and they weren't too bad (remember, I don't care much for donuts). The kiddo liked the sprinkles and M&M's. Praise to The Lord for a great donut place in LS. If not for Lamar's, LS would be good-donut-less. My personal favorite is the old fashion donut (it may be called a sour cream donut...
