Stopped in at LaMar's this morning to get treats for my staff here in Wichita. I ordered a dozen donuts with 6 regular donuts and 6 specials for $20 which is a really good deal. The donuts looked so good I had to take one for myself before bringing them to the office. And then after the first donut I was tempted to take another for myself lol. Heard some good reviews on here so I decided to test it out today on an early Saturday's morning. Upon arrival, I was the only customer. I ended up getting a dozen and 2 old fashioned donut. I bought glazed and chocolate only since they ran out of maple. I was wondering if the donuts were actually made daily since it was too early in the morning and they ran out of maple donut and apple fritter already. I would give this place a 3/5. I don't think it's that great but it is better than dunkin's and crispy kreme since it's not super sweet. It's a little undercooked and not fluffy like others had described it. As for the price, it is way too expensive. I knew of the pricing beforehand but I just wanted to try it out to see why it's expensive. Overall, will i come back again? Yes, to try their apple fritter. Will I be a frequent here? No, since my bill came out to be $35 for a total of 14 donuts. read more

Saturday morning is a very busy time for any donut shop, but there's never a long wait here because there are always plenty of people behind the counter to keep it moving. Everyone is friendly and I've always felt like they are glad for my business. The donuts themselves are excellent--soft and moist and sweet without tasting like nothing but pure sugar after the first few bites--you can actually taste the apple in the apple fritters! If there's a downside, it's that the donuts don't last long in the case. If you don't get there before 9 or 9:30am, your selection will be limited. Ive been here twice now which both times were an okay experience. The first time a nice young girl helped me. I decided to try a twist made out of regular and chocolate dough. The donut itself had that typical donut flavor but the chocolate dough was pretty interesting to try. The second time the employees just stared and were not that friendly. This time I tried a raspberry filled donut with glaze. The donut was pretty big and cost $2.57 (prices went up the second time I went). The dough was very bread like and a bit thick. I found it better to break the donut into pieces and use the filling as a dip since it was so big. For those that dont like seeds, the raspberry filling does have seeds in it. The flavor of it is great though! One thing I would recommend is working on the customer service. Especially when hiring teens. This is a place that would be good for a family since the variety is good and theres options for everyone. read more

After visiting Hurts Donuts, I realize how much I'd prefer Lamars. Every time we go to Lamars the donuts are tasty and fresh. The donut holes are yummy. The sprinkle donuts and long johns are my favorite. I feel like the dough is tasty on its own without the topping, which is something Hurts is lacking. Also, the icing is yummy and sweet, but not too sweet, and perfect consistency. It's hard enough to not drip off the donut and soft enough to still taste awesome. I love how lamars isn't into that hipster throw a bunch of stuff on a donut and call it gormet craze. The donuts are always soft fluffy and when you get one of the filled it is cram packed. Honestly even their "plain" glazed is delicious. I put quotes because i feel like plain doesnt do it justice. My favorite is the raspberry filled (with out the chocolate frosting) Its amazing. My hubs had lemon filled and it was cram packed and amazing. Always great customer service. Always clean. And they do go above and beyond for the customer. read more

I do not care for overly sweet donuts with lots of frosting, toppings. LaMar's are perfect for me. A delicious plain glazed is perfect. I also love the plain and chocolate twist which gives a nice combo of sweet and not so sweet. I cannot speak to the friendliness of the staff. Good donuts. Everything has soy in it. So that makes it kinda texture similar. Soy flour doesn't allow a lot of change in the overall donut. Also being fried in a soy based oil, it makes it just rough in the stomach. The taste buds however like it! read more
