I live in Austin and a lot of my extended family are in the greater Houston area. For my father's 90th birthday celebration my goal was to find a place where a bunch of elderly and hard of hearing people could have a good meal and be able to converse and hear each other. Lambert's ticked off all the requirements. It is a gem of a place in beauty, atmosphere, service and quality of food. There's an extensive menu too! I'm so glad we found this place and I'm hoping to stop here for a meal in our travels between Austin and Houston or the coast. It's really nice as are the folks who run it! The Best Italian food I've had since my friend's Italian mom used to cook for us when I was a kid almost 50 years ago. My wife had the eggplant parmigiana and I had the ziti pasta with a house ensalada for lunch. It was all absolutely amazing. Afterwards we toured the rest of the restaurant (which used to be a local museum), and even met the very kind and friendly owner. On top of it all, the service was fantastic and the ambiance very relaxed. This is the type of place that develops a reputation as a destination location. It's that good. read more

What a gem! We were meeting family in Columbus, TX, which is the perfect halfway point between Houston and Austin. The house was so cute, warm, and inviting, and the portions were very generous. The ambiance is upscale and casual. The individual rooms each have their own character and the seating is limited in each room, giving the feeling of an exclusive eatery. The food is so amazing! I can personally recommend the lamb chops (you get 8 of them) over a bed of the best vegetable mix I've ever had. The service is fine as the hostess was also the waitress. This was an amazing place, I absolutely loved the 1800s feel, and I almost thought I was in a little slice of history. The food was incredible, with surprising and natural flavors around every turn. The owners were very friendly, and it would have been very different without great service. Another very cool thing about this place is the complimentary professionally made rolls. Lamberto's Brandon House Bistro chooses to ignore both Federal and Texas laws and WILL charge you a 3.0% surcharge on you Debit Card Transaction. This practice is totally illegal. So, let's start with the elephant in the room: are debit card surcharges legal? The short answer is no, it's not legal to surcharge debit card transactions. Major card issuers, including Visa and Mastercard, expressly forbid surcharging debit card transactions. The legality of surcharges is further influenced by state laws. For example, Texas law specifically bans debit card surcharging altogether. On a federal level, the Durbin Amendment, part of the Dodd-Frank Wall Street Reform and Consumer Protection Act was introduced in 2010 and limits transaction fees. Part of this act limits the transaction fees for merchants imposed by card issuers, but it also goes further to limit transaction fees in general for debit and credit card transactions. How much do debit card transactions cost? As part of the Durbin Amendment, the interchange fee for debit card transactions cannot exceed $0.21 plus 0.05% of the transaction fee, plus a $0.01 fraud prevention fee (when eligible). The appetizer, shrimp dip is savory and delicious! Served with a side of toasted bread and prepared in a small cast iron. Complimentary fresh baked rolls with butter accompany your table. The meatball parmigian sandwhich is huge and can be shared. I had the seafood mushroom risotto that was on special. It had a skewer of salmon, shrimp and scallops. My husband had the trio with lasagna, Alfredo, and chicken Parmesan. He said it's some of the best lasagna he's had. They started out with rolls and the sweet waitress kept our tea filled. Wonderful lunch experience with the soup and salad special. All the food our family ordered was excellent and the service was top notch. Wow! What fabulous food and in an historic building! First, the homemade rolls are addicting! Ask for olive oil with seasonings or pile on the butter. Great both ways. The grilled chicken Caesar salad is fabulous as are the pasta dishes. I've gotten a chicken dish with spicey red sauce that I love. Outside seating is wonderful now that the temperatures have cooled. And there are separate rooms for hosting private parties. I'm a once a week (at least) regular because it's just that good! read more
