We came across Lamberts by total accident. During a road trip, I asked Grok "What is Sikeston MO known for". Grok told me about Lamberts and their thrown buns. So if it were not for Grok AI I would have missed this place. It's like a Crocker Barrel but much better. There is a store to buy country goods but the food is where it's at. The thrown buns are actually thrown at you from across the room! The buns are freshly made and was one of the best testing dinner rolls I've ever had! The good: Dinner rolls, fried okra, best chicken fried steak we have ever had. Cucumbers and onions in vinegar. The not so good: Liver and gizzards were not to my liking but I don't take stars away because of my preference. The gizzards were extreme soft and not crunchy they way I like it. We will come back to try the other items on the menu. Thank you Grok!

What a great restaurant in a small town way. It reminds me of crackle barrel. Very fun! I liked the bread toss (get the apple butter), okra, stewed tomato pasta, potatoes, meatloaf and frog legs. The chicken N dumplings and black eyed peas had zero flavor. The energy and staff make this place a must see. I wouldn't come back but I would suggest it.

Southern comfort food to the max! Lambert's Cafe is a local institution that you really must experience. Lots of great favorites including meatloaf, hamburger steak, wings, fried chicken gizzards and livers, homemade desserts, including cobblers and banana pudding, etc, etc, with all the homemade sides and vegetables that you can imagine. And then there are the "throwed rolls." Hot with butter, honey, gravy, sorghum molasses, and more. Great service and down home country ambiance to spare. Don't go expecting fancy, but I guarantee you won't leave hungry.

What a fun place to eat! Food was excellent and the ambience was even better. Everyone was very friendly and welcoming. Great experience!

I would be hesitant in going here 2 hours before closing in the future. We didn't get most of the pass arounds until we were done with our meal and ready to go. The staff were friendly as usual and our server was really good and the place is clean as usual! The salmon patties were really good, I'd order them again. The food, overall, seems to be not well mixed with salt. My husband's chicken and dumplings had an inedible layer of just pure salt. He mixed everything up and it was better but the shock of a mouthful of salt lingered for the rest of the meal. The fried potatoes pass around had the same issue. This is still very much so a tourist destination and a once in a blue moon trip for us when we find ourselves in the area. The allure of the "throwed rolls" and pass arounds is enough to keep this place an option for us, especially since we're learning what not to order.

Yet another visit to Lambert's Cafe, well worth the 4-1/2 hour drive from west central Indiana. The food here never disappoints. I wish it was closer to home so we could come here more often.

A delightful experience. Great, hot throwed rolls. I love the artwork and the fantastic piano music. Service is friendly and attentive. Great job. Very nostalgic.

First time here since 1990, when I was 14. Brought my 14 year old son here on the way home from St. Louis. Kept what made this place special to myself, just told him it's like a unique Cracker Barrel. Omg Lambert's did not disappoint! The interior looked different than I remembered but the food was awesome. The rolls! The "pass arounds" which I had no recollection of was the hidden gem for me. He got ribs, I got meatloaf and barely touched it. Full on bread and fried okra before the meal even came. I hope we are back in less than 36 years this time. Staff, service, food, ambiance were all stellar. Quintessential southern dining at this place. Respect

Doesn't get any better that thrower hot rolls and unlimited sides!? I'll help you answer, no! Staff is always super friendly, portion sizes are giant, prices are reasonable, and everything is delicious. The unique decor with license plates, antiques, and flags from around the US gives you plenty to look at while you eat. Great food and a fun time for adults and children alike, don't pass up the opportunity to experience Lamberts!

Lambert's is an experience. I have been several times. The food is always good and the service is usually on par. Fun atmosphere with music but not loud enough you can't enjoy a conversation. Wait times can be long and pass around can be hit or miss, but they get it right the majority of the time.

Stopped on a Sunday for early dinner on our way from Memphis to St Louis. Wait was about 1 hour but son really wanted to try this hyped up restaurant. Yes throwed rolls were fun, and pass around sides were good when we could get them -- only a few were circulating and the ones we really wanted didn't come out until we were packing up leftovers to take home. Special of the day 'chicken & stuffing' was 75% stuffing & gravy. I ordered it because nothing else on the regular menu sounded better for the prices listed. Steak was nothing special. It was served in a pan, which was an unnecessary waste of table space. Wouldn't go back.

Tasty southern style meal that will warm your soul! We got the chicken n' dumplings and bangers and mash. Service was prompt and we had the best rolls ever! The passed sides were rotated through at a steady pace. Lots of rolls were throw and hot for the recipient. Very country store and southern classic ambiance. Piano player was playing good tunes and giving birthday shoutouts. It was a good stop and we got leftovers to take home!

Popular roadside restaurant and RV Park! Easy on and off highway. Southern cooking and down home flavors. Unfortunately there was loose old food and torn sugar packets in the butter packet holder dish. Service was fantastic though and the food was okay. We loved the restaurant thrown baked rolls!

Ask the Community - Lamberts Cafe

    Do they take reservations?

No, they do not take reservations. However, the restaurant is so large, you likely will only have a brief wait unless you're visiting with an unusually large group at a peak time.…

How do they handle pass arounds when you get takeout?

You just let the server know what pass arounds you want and they'll put them in a Togo container for you

Can anyone tell me how good the frog legs are?

    Amazing!!!

How does this one compared to the one in Alabama? I love the one in Alabama.

Well I have never been to the one in Alabama. We have been to the other in Ozark and it's not as good we thought. Sikeston is da bomb. Fun, great staff and good food! Hope u get a chance to try it if up that way.
