I have been here three times - each time my pedicure paint chipped within days. The top coat they use must be cheap - as this is a typical symptom. Also - they paint on my skin - which also causes chipping once the nail grows even a tiny bit. I agree the owner is really nice and she tries hard to give good customer service, remembers everyone's names, but I'm always rushed there and as soon as another customer walks in - they rush - and boot me out of my chair. I just had my second pedicure here and I think I found my new nail place. I have been to quite a few nail places in the area(Bollinger, Pinkies etc) and they all left me feeling robbed and unenthused with the service. This place is small but the women working here are so friendly. Not to mention the pedicures are very reasonable and my last one lasted 6 weeks! The last time I went in I took my 90 year old grandma and they were so careful with her and gave her the special treatment. So sweet. read more

This place was clean, the staff was very nice. I was able to make an evening appointment for 2 people on short notice. Come to find out they have only been in Lafayette for 7 months. The were in Orinda for 3 years. I really had a nice time and their prices were great. $35 for a mani pedi. I love this place. They just relocated to the same mall where whole foods is located. This is not a fancy place - but service is consistent and the quality of work lasts for weeks! Also - I can live with the prices since I go about every 3 weeks. The owner Kim, may even cut you a deal if you're a "regular" - and set appointments so she can count on your business. Disappointing experience. Place is small and run down. Main greeter is nice and helpful. They couldn't buff my nails because they ran out of buffers. Missed a bunch of my cuticles on my fingers. Didn't really scrub calluses. No liners in foot soak tub. Various instruments are used from customer to customer without sanitizing. Worries me that this place had so many high reviews. When I heard that Cathy had started her own salon with her sister-in-law, I immediately posted the news on my Facebook account to let my friends know that we could resume getting awesome manicure/pedicures again! The first thing you notice is how pretty and clean the salon is. There are many high end salons out there that look pretty from the waiting area, but disappoint once you walk behind the reception desk. This salon, however, is clean, you get the benefit of fresh air, and the location is fantastic. Now the important stuff...the nails. There is good reason why my friends and I were willing to drive far to see Cathy, (we got lucky though, as she is still in Lafayette). She is meticulous, s I still chuckle as she measures and obsesses over if each line on your French manicure is even and equal. She takes her time in making sure you leave her salon with beautiful, sparkling nails. She knows her colours as well! There have been times when I have chosen colours that she advised me would be too sheer, and like the colour genius she is, has helped me pick more flattering colours that give off the same look I was going for. Her sister-in-law, I have noticed, is also very careful and precise in her applying nail polish. When my friend and I went in, we took turns admiring the colour and job these two did on each other's nails, as well as on our own. The massages are lengthy enough, and their choice of scrubs always make my feet feel baby soft afterwards. The last time I went there, I had French manicure and pedicure done, and while I did not get Shellac on my feet, my manicure is still firmly rooted in place, and that was over a week ago, with much running around, sandal wearing and most recently, swimming. I also agree with one of the previous recent reviewers. If you take care of your nails after your manicure, your polish should last. read more

so far so good. I've been coming here for my biweekly shellac mani and pedi for a couple months now and still very happy. I went to 5 or 6 different nail salons in contra costa searching for my regular spot before I found Lamorinda Nails. The girls are very friendly and sweet, and always happy and in a good mood. It seems like the pedicure massage is longer here than most places, and that is the best part! The salon is cute and clean, many shellac colors to choose from, and also do great job with eyebrow wax. I have no complaints. I do suggest calling ahead, walk-ins can be hard here. read more

They did a great job on my mani/pedi. French manicure for both, with shellac on my hands. The shop is pretty small, not good for large groups. It's also a good idea to call ahead for a reservation. Kathy is awesome. Hasn't seemed to be as crowded as it was because she has a bigger staff, which is great. Only complaint ever was it was tough to get in at my scheduled time and almost impossible to ever walk in so forward-thinking is a plus. BUT, that's because they do excellent work. My gel manicures last 3-4 weeks and pricing is more than reasonable. They are fun to talk to, quick and always do excellent work. I have been literally EVERYWHERE in Lamorinda and Walnut Creek down to Danville for nails and this has been my go-to place for the last 5 years. I highly recommend Kathy and her staff. read more

Pretty average mani-pedi. Went with a group of people, and it was like "nail express" - the people working there were running around like crazy jumping between customer doing nails while the pedi was happening or doing one coat of polish on one person then switching to another, then back again. The variety of polish available was great but they were rough on the feet and one girl's toe started to bleed after she told the lady to stop working on her toe because it hurt. I've had way better manicures - my nails look like nothing special. Use other businesses in the area for better, cleaner and better quality. Based on all the good reviews, I must have come on an off day. So I tried again..and the second time, my manicure was pretty good, but nothing great. I made an appointment and still had to wait for almost 15 minutes. The space is small and stuffy as well. I first came to Lamorinda Nails because I had just moved to the area to start school at SMC, and I wanted to get a mani/pedi. Thanks to Yelp, I found this place and I have never gone anywhere else in 5 years! They're all so nice, the spa pedicures are great (I love the cucumber scrub), and I have never had an issue. Now, I usually get gel manicures and when I come in to get the gel removed it's free and a color change is just $20. The last time I was in they were low on the color I usually get, and the woman who was helping me offered to mix a couple colors together to get my usual shade. I am so happy that I found Kathy again! I was referred to Lamorinda Nails by a friend, who also told me that Kathy was quite good. When I walked into the salon, I was delighted to see that Kathy was the same person that I use to go to when she worked at Forever Young. When she left that salon, I never went back and had no idea where she had gone. I'm so happy I found her again! I didn't have an appointment and just walked in. I was seen about 10 minutes later. Kathy at Lamorinda Nails is absolutely wonderful! My husband, daughter, son-in-law and I go only to Kathy. I own a hair and skin care salon in Lafayette, and our reputation is everything to us. We have no problem referring all our clients to Lamorinda, and to Kathy specifically. Kathy is friendly, yet very professional and she does great work. This is the first CLEAN nail salon I have ever seen. Her prices are too low, but I guess that appeals to some. I think Kathy's work is worth so much more. As long as Kathy is doing nails, I will be a grateful client. Appointments are not necessary, but I highly recommend them. read more

This place is definitely my new go to after moving to this side of the tunnel from Berkeley. All the ladies in the shop are super nice and do a great job and the scrubs are a great extra touch. Try the Hawaiian if you want to feel like you are on a little mini-vacation. I had such a great experience today when I went in and spoke with Kathy, the owner, about getting a specific manicure design done. She said that one of the other women could totally do it and booked me an appointment for tomorrow. Girls, it is hard to find a good nail art place in Northern CA! It took me awhile to find a place I liked in this area and I tried most of them. Everyone who works here is very friendly, and I have always had good service - the consistency is the most important to me, as other places seem to be a lot more hit or miss, depending on who you get. I usually make an appointment as it seems pretty busy most of the time, but I did do walk-ins a few times with no issues (not the usual "yes, we can take you, wait 5 minutes" and 40 min later . . ). I started doing gel again since going here, and haven't had any issues with weak, peeling nails like I did in the past. I am not sure if it's their products or they are just better at taking it off/applying it, but I am very happy with the results! read more

The lady who did my nails had the biggest attitude the entire time, kept rolling her eyes on me - when I decided that I wanted a different color before she started applying.
