She also had just the right size lampshade for a tiny third lamp which had an odd shape harp. I hadn't been able to find until now. Prices were very reasonable. BEWARE OF THIS COMPANY! My son bought a bohemian chandelier-type lamp, tried to wire it but to no avail. We drove from Huntington Beach to this lamp repair place and she assured him "no problem"....she could re-wire it. To my amazement, she charged him $165! He loved the lamp so at the time, he felt it was worth it. When it was (supposedly) finished, we picked it up, took it home, and it DIDN'T WORK! So, once again he took it back, she admitted that she probably needed another part (really?), charged him another $60 for her time (again, really?), we picked it up, brought it home and AGAIN it didn't work. I needed to have my chandelier repaired and was about to give up until I was given the recommendation to go to The Lamp Shade Outlet. I was greeted by Naheed and told she would be able to fix all my problems and have my chandelier back to me within a day. Three hours later the lamp was ready for pick up, are you kidding me!!!! This was by far the best experience I've ever had from the A+ customer service I was given to her knowledge of my lighting issue. Disappointed. I took 2 outdoor hanging lights in to have each fixed with new light socket adapter plugs. I was quoted a price of $35.00 each. Waited 4 weeks, no problem, I was not in a hurry, but when I arrived to pick up the lamps, one had a white adapter and one a black adapter. I asked why they didn't match and the owner advised that they didn't have 2 the same in the store so they would need to order one. Of course, that should have been the standard procedure to start. Three weeks later, I picked up the lamps and was charged $120.00, an increase of 58%! The explanation was the order of parts and labor. Does this mean the labor was not originally quoted? I'm not sure, however this is not good business for repeat customers. On a previous visit a couple of years ago, I purchased a lampshade for $120.00. At the time, I thought the item was a little overpriced but I liked the shape and color of the shade so bought it. Not too many lamp repair shops in the area, but I will need to travel further to the one in San Juan Capistrano next time for repairs. read more

Need a lamp shade? Who would've thought a business could survive solely by selling lamp shades? Well, this place does. In all fairness they also sell chandelier accessories, lamp parts, light bulbs, etc. You get the picture: lamp stuff. This is a pretty cool place. We were in need of a very specific lamp shade. A zebra lampshade to be exact. We went to every lamp store around when The Lamp Shade Outlet was recommended. Don't be fooled by the word "outlet", however. This highly sought after zebra lamp shade (that's zebra print, not actual zebra hide) set us back around $80! That's pricey if you ask me. It was a piece that had to be special ordered which took a few weeks. Great for custom shades. I had an outdoor shade made with Sunbrella fabric. Gorgeous. Expensive, but gorgeous. Being an outdoor lamp, it needed to accommodate a solar light, so the screw on top of the harp is longer. I needed a new black harp and a way to extend that screw. I was told the harps only come in gold and silver and that the harp I had was custom. There was no way to accommodate. This just pushed me to research. Though I try to avoid Amazon, a plethora of information presented itself! For $15 I found a black harp and an extender -yes they make them in a variety of sizes. My lamp that I've been trying to reconstruct for a year is together!!!! I was just disappointed that the gal didn't even try to help me and clearly didn't have as much lamp knowledge as I was looking for. Still love my shade. read more

I wanted an exact duplicate of a "Stickley" lamp shade. We went over the colors (beige, not white) and the 6 folds that were to come down from the top of this lampshade. What I got was a white lamp shade with her shouts of "That was that color that you ordered!". (My mistake in not questioning it, but I was about to leave on a vacation with many plane trips.). Besides the color, the 6 folds were 3-inches wide at the bottom instead of the 2-inches on the shade that I brought to her and she took photos of. I was mistaken in thinking that this place was a professional lampshade place. She is a rip-off and got my empathy with her concerns about another customer who hasn't paid for half a big order --- oh, right - no wonder she required FULL payment before this shade was ordered. The only recourse that I have would be to take her to small claims court. read more

My wife and I found a pole lamp in the trash many years ago. It's old and rusty but we have it in our Livin Nguyen room behind a fake tree and it gives wonderful light. Well last Christmas it made a weird crackle sound and died.i wanted to throw it away, my wife wanted to get it fixed. I called Naheed because she had helped us pick out lampshades for our favorite lamps. I asked her if she could fix it and she said "bring it in." Naheed is great. She and her people rebuilt my Ethan Allen lamp shades from the bare frames to look like newly built shades. Her people stretched and sewed new fabric on the shade frames to restore them to their original look. When I picked them up, one shade was defective and, She happily redid that one. On the otherhand, I brought in my broken cast metal lamp, which had a broken leg. It was made of cast iron. She would not even try to re-attach the broken leg. She had no clue as to how to do it. Instead, I had to figure it out myself, and repair it myself. Apparently, her services are limited to repairing and rebuilding lamp shades, as the name on the door says. So, if you see the sign on the door "Lamp Shades", says what they do here. I'm a fan and will be coming back for more shades. read more

I was referred by lamps r us. I brought in a lamp for repair.The estimate was $16 for the part and $20 for labor. A week later I picked it up and was told it would be $90. I thought if the cost was higher than the estimate they had to get an approval PS they were new at lamps r us for $74. I guess you're never to old to learn read more

I dropped off my desk lamp which was an antique and it was fixed the same day, the only reason I did not give 5 stars was when I picked up the lamp it did not have the bulb in it that it had when I dropped it off. They did put a bulb in the lamp after I mentioned it but can't be sure it was the bulb that was originally in the lamp. I have to give this place 5 starts just to boost their reviews. This place has a ton of lamp shades. Probably about 100 times as many as Lamps Plus, which is around the corner. While I ended up spending more than I planned, the associate there was super helpful (found a shade for me on the first try) and the selection was so vast that I wouldn't have figured it out on my own. Lamps Plus is probably OK if you are trying to buy a basic shade for a basic lamp. If you need something different, this place is way better. read more
