Old Stove serves them with a savory watermelon sauce in addition to a traditional cocktail sauce--eaten together, it's a flavor explosion that I can't quite describe. We also enjoyed the garlic everything fries, which were delicious! We just had to try a flight to sample the brews. There are some really good beers available here, especially the Belgian blonde, citra pale ale, and the stout. I did not really care for the seasonal sour (grapefruit, I think)--to me, it just tasted like a sour and nothing more, but someone with more interest in sour beers would probably enjoy it just fine. Despite the busy night, our server checked on us regularly and was very personable, stopping to chat with us about the local sports scene. There's plenty to look at, inside and out. If you can snag a seat outside, you'll get to enjoy the waterfront. Inside, the decor is industrial but fun. Not sure if this runs all the time, but when we were there, the tvs were playing vintage beer ads, which was quite fun. They also sell some pretty good t-shirt designs. Overall, Old Stove Brewing is the perfect combo of good location, good food, and good beer. Definitely recommend a visit when in the Pike Place area!

I suppose if the secret is going to be let out, I need to put in my 2 cents. This place is the BOMB. I live two blocks away and have only been in the neighborhood a few months. Having beer to the Washington Beer Open House, Seattle Beer Week, Mobile Food Rodeo, Bite of Seattle Craft Beer Tasting, Washington Brewers Fest, Brewers Dinners, etc! all in this year, I am drawn to food and Wabeer like a fruit fly to piss. (prolly not a the best analogy, but you get the idea.) I went to Chuck's two or three times before I started to wonder about Lamplighter. Looks cool. They have a seating area with picnic tables outside. hmmm.. Well I checked it out on Yelp! and it had some good reviews so I decided to go at it alone and treat myself to happy hour. It was summer, and it just opened for the afternoon so there weren't many folks there. I cozied up to the bar, ordered a cold one and thumbed through the Stranger. Ordered BBQ Sliders. When the portion came, I nearly fell off the barstool. The "sliders" was this delicious smoke flavored tender pulled beef on french bread, and the tots were so huge that I barely made a dent after shoveling them into my mouth. Of course I went for the second beer, and took the leftovers home. My housemate had a full-on meal from the leftovers. Since then, I've come back for the awesome service, the AMAZING food (seriously, almost everything I have ordered, from the salads to the sandwiches to the burger are AMAZEBALLS! how is this possible?) It's funny because the benches at Chuck's late at night in the summer is where the "cool" kids like to hang out, but guess what? Took a chance on this spot on a frigid winter day. As soon as we walked in I knew it was the right decision. Items like the grilled cheese, egg sandwich, and french fries are sure to be done well. It's fun to watch the guys at the grill as they're true artistes when it comes to their spatula skills. They also have an impressive dessert case that I'd love to dive into sometime. read more
