There are plenty of tables and electric outlets so it is great for studying or working remotely. It is not too loud either, even when it gets busy. I didn't even realize this location existed, and I'm so glad I found it! It's in a cute area with plenty of seating. I've tried the Pumpkin Lamba and Mr. Rogers (their seasonal drinks), and both were so yummy. Service has been great overall. On my first visit, the barista was overly chatty with the customers ahead of me and didn't seem aware of the rest of us waiting in line, but every visit after that has been quick and friendly. read more

Lots and lots of seating, great service and excellent coffee. My favorite is the iced lamba latte with 50% sweetness. It's very creamy, rich, good amount of sweetness but still has that distinct delicious coffee taste. The coffee aroma is very unique and a pleasure to sip. Very brightly lit and spacious with modern interior. With the exception of just a couple of small cloth chairs most of the seating are black metal chairs so not that comfortable after sitting for a while. Lamppost is a solid coffee spot. They clearly pride themselves on their high quality coffee beans, they even sell their beans, average cost $40 per bag. They offer a honey gesha pour over which I tried. It was very expensive, $20, and tbh it wasn't my thing. I learned I'm not into light roasts. The service is really chill and friendly. Surprised by some of the negative reviews here. This place is true third wave coffee. If you are a Starbucks person this might not be your jam. The coffee scene in Austin has improved a lot. Lots of really good coffee shops, but nothing up north. Except lamppost. I am glad to have a good place to go for a perfect cappuccino close to my work. If you dont know what a perfect cap tastes like, come to Lamppost, order one and take a sip without the lid. Lamppost coffee is sweet little spot to meet with friends or get some work done. There's a decent amount of seating and all the coffee and espresso drinks I've had were great. I've had a bagel and a pastry there before and neither were anything write home about. The true winner for tastiness at lamppost are the toasts. There's a goat cheese-blueberry toast, avocado toast, and nut butter-banana toast. I found the avocado toast tasty and a good price for the size. (It was two pieces each about the size of a large palm.) The reason I can't give it 5 starts is that there's always trouble with food. I've been in 4 times. Once the kitchen was closed and twice the kitchen didn't have the ingredients for the first thing I ordered (and I'm always there early so it's not a ran-our-for-the-day type thing). I really want to return to lamppost for more toasts but I'm hesitant to do so because there's a chance they won't have it and I'll end up eating a so-so bagel. PARENTS: There are two large bathrooms but the changing area is a hit-or-miss. It's outside the bathroom and I've sometimes seen the changing table removed. read more

It was a beautiful corner downtown coffee shop! The interior had a beautiful open layout with an indoor outdoor vibe. They have board games, lots of seating, and even a space for interactive conversations (a jar to insert a paper with your response to a prompt). I ordered the Lamba Latte w/almond milk. It was so good! My husband (who typically refuses my fun coffee drinks and had to convince to try it) absolutely loved it. He actually drank most of it and offered to go back and get another LOL. Star Coffee was my favorite coffee shop in the Austin metro area. So when it was sold by owners and the space bought by Lamppost, I was heartbroken. But, I wanted to give the new tenants in the iconic downtown Round Rock location a chance, as it's only fair. First of all, the coffee. Star Coffee had my favorite roasts and blends and their Americano was my go-to. Lamppost's Americano is...not great. Though they have a beautiful La Marzocco machine, which I'm sure cost them a pretty penny, the espresso pull leaves their roast weak. Lifeless. Though I like the sharp acidity they have, the skill is severely lacking. A few sips of disappointment. Second, the decor. I'm sure they are trying to match the corporate or franchise look at other locations, but they took what was a cozy, warm, homey space and painted it an empty grey, and replaced the paintings by local artists with what seem to be huge gaudy prints. It just used to feel welcoming here, and now it doesn't. Third, the amenities. Their WiFi is crap, doesn't work. If you want to come get some work done, as I did (and used to regularly at Star Coffee), plan to tether your laptop or tablet to your smart phone, because their Wi-Fi simply doesn't hold up to even light use, and they just restart the router if you're not able to connect. I'm not asking for tech experts to troubleshoot their connectivity problems, but cmon. You run a spacious coffee house with ample seating in a prime location, your Wi-Fi needs to work. Overall, I am very disappointed. I was hoping it would at least feel similar to Star Coffee, even if I couldn't get the food I missed or the coffee I loved. It's sadly not even a shell of its former self. Goodbye Star Coffee, and goodbye little building downtown. I won't be returning. read more

This new downtown location has great coffee and friendly baristas just like their other shops. I especially liked the pour over machine here. I tried an Ethiopian coffee and it was really smooth and you can definitely taste all the fancy notes you read on the coffee bag. read more

It's very plain and lacking personality. I miss Star Coffee dearly, and they took all the warmth and comfort out of a local favorite and painted it grey and white. The drinks are okay, but expensive. They have light bites but no prices on the menu. I bought a grilled cheese for around $7, and a hot chocolate for $4.25. Lately quite a few good coffee shops have opened in round rock, cedar park and Georgetown area and we no longer have to drive down to Austin. And, Lamppost coffee near round rock high school is one of the coffee places that we frequently visit. Now they have opened a new location in downtown round rock. It has big sitting area (inside and out). It's centrally located on the main street, with nice open layout and big windows, so perfect place for sipping your favorite coffee and people watching. And, The internet is pretty good. Will be definitely coming here more often. read more
