Delicious pizza! We got the Mediterranean--especially enjoyed the drizzles of pesto and thick slices of heirloom tomato. The buffalo wings were vinegary and hot, just the way they should be. They delivered across the plaza to Super Owl Brewing where our little family was sitting at the outdoor patio. Such a great arrangement for a cool (almost) fall evening. Next time we'll try having our meal at Lamppost itself. I have no issue paying $28 for a medium pizza - if it tasted anything like pizza. Yes I'm from New York but I've lived in California for over 10 years and gotten used to what constitutes "pizza" here. But this is atrocious. I got the Whole Nine Yards and a plain cheese pizza, the best way to judge an establishment's pizza. Bread is flavorless like cracker dough or matzo, bottom of a slice is rubbery and can't hold itself up, and the sauce and cheese are flavorless. How can someone screw up pizza ? This is what I would imagine Dominos or Pizza Hut would taste like. Guess I'll be driving to Fairfield for Vecini's pizza, or Oakland for Arizmendi's, or even Safeway for a Homerun frozen pizza which is still WAY BETTER than this. And I live across the street. This place is great! Their pizza comes out piping hot out of the oven and the ingredients are fresh. The cheese literally melts off the pizza because it's so hot. When I came here, I got a pesto based pizza with three toppings: artichokes, tomatoes and sausage! Lol it sounded like a really weird combination at the beginning but when it came out, it was really good! The artichokes were my favorite part of the pizza and I'm not that much of a fan of them on my pizza. They were so good to pick off of the pizza and eat them on their own. I really liked the pesto base instead of the tomato base. The pesto was not overwhelming at all and really gave the pizza some pizzaz. I mean, a 12" pizza with three toppings for $18.49 I would expect an incredible pizza. It definitely didn't disappoint, but was a little out of my college price range. Good thing I came with two other friends to split it with. I have frequented this pizzeria on numerous occasions and am part of their rewards program. However, last night I showed up with my family (7 adults and 1 infant - he wasn't eating, so no harm no foul). I placed an order that was north of $100 and had to explain to the cashier that I was dining in and that I needed a number. She was obviously flustered and couldn't focus on the sale as I repeatedly informed her that the order was for dine in and that I had always been provided a number so that they could bring my order out to me. Finally got my number and drinks and sat down. After 40 minutes I had not received any of my order so went up to check. They had it in to go boxes with the number on the box - no salad as I had requested, and no breadsticks. I refused to pay and they compensated my order, even my drinks. I appreciate that, but I will not be coming back anytime soon as it ruined our dining experience and we went away with empty stomachs (and to be honest, the pizza did not look very good - they were busy, so probably rushed, but I won't pay for crap). I will not be visiting any time soon. Hopefully they can regain some control and quality and get their cashiers properly trained. I hope so - I really liked this place. read more

We went here for our first time after reading about it being #1 pizza in Yolo County (for the 5th year in a row). We were helped by Janet who gave us a lot of great information about the business and the pizza. She was so friendly and has worked there for over twenty years which is pretty special. They have a great selection of beers on tap. The pizza was phenomenal. We got the Best of Seven pizza and wouldn't change a thing. My husband is a picky pizza person and said it was the best pizza he's had in a long time. The crust was crunchy while still being airy. Sauce was delicious and toppings fresh. Janet said they make the dough every day fresh. The outside of the business looks nothing like the inside. I wasn't expecting much and was surprised to walk inside and see a large dining area with lighted brick walls and a ton of tvs with different sports on. Their online ordering system failed to pass on the request for our boneless wings to be buffalo flavoured and we didn't notice until we got them home. (Yes, we did double check our order.) When we called about the issue they just claimed we hadn't made the request and made no apology or attempt to rectify the issue. Their boneless chicken pieces are not worth eating without sauce!! In college, I used to live right down the street from this place. As much as I enjoy Woodstock's, it was really hard to resist this place. The pizza is delicious enough, featuring fresh toppings and awesome cheese, to earn a 4-star rating from me. But it's their "family deal" that takes that helps it earn the coveted 5th star from me. The "family deal" includes a yummy salad, tasty spaghetti, buttery garlic bread bread, and a medium pizza of your choice for about $20. This can easily feed four people. It's one of the best dinner deals in all of Davis that barely anyone knows about (as evidenced by the lack of reviews here on Yelp). The restaurant has a few large TVs, so it is great place to catch a game. I used to walk here with friends or roommates to watch playoff games all the time. The prices were reasonable (I don't know what their prices are now). The garlic sauce is super garlic-y, so it probably isn't the best choice on a date...but you know... if the person can't handle you with rank breath then....forget'em. The portions were pretty huge and could make 2 meals. I got chicken tenders because I'm not a fan of pizza. I was excited because the menu said it came with 6 pieces (usually they come in 3 pieces). When it came out, I was disappointed. The reason it's 6 pieces is because they're so small, almost like frozen chicken tenders. I was expecting bigger pieces of meat that were breaded. Came in for mothers day. They messed up our Pizza which they usually always do but made a smaller new Pizza for us. The quarter machine was out of change so I gave my daughter $5 to ask for change. I said she wasn't being very kid friendly and she called me a -BITCH- right in front of my 6 year old. I told the person in charge but the really didn't do anything. There are a lot of tables and chairs in the restaurant as well as outside of the restaurant so it's definitely a good place if you're looking to seat a large party. The tables and chairs in the restaurant are moveable so you can easily move them around to make a bigger table if needed. I would recommend sharing pizzas with people because it would be expensive to get a regular pizza or even a personal pizza. I ordered chicken tenders and fries but the portion was extremely small and there were also barely any fries which was disappointing. The chicken tenders were pretty small as well. A few days later: I'm raising the review a notch because of a positive response from the owner. I will be stopping in again the next time I'm in town. -- Tom ===== The pizza was great. The service was acceptable. The environment, however, was so disruptive that we were unable to enjoy our meal. The problem centered around two families, four adults and a bunch of kids, who had commandeered several tables in the middle of the floor. The kids were allowed to run around, scream, and jump, etc. The adults shouted to each other so they could hear themselves over their children, so loudly that we could clearly hear everything that was said. At one point one of the male adults carried on a cell phone conversation at full redneck-outdoor volume. I spoke to them at one point, politely asking for a bit of respect, since the kids were shouting and jumping at our table-side. I was received with blank stares, of course. In the age of Yelp, I realized it is a touchy thing to risk the ire of customers by required decent behavior. However, I believe that it is better to offend an offender, than lose the dozen or so customers forced to endure such disruptive behavior. Surely, a bit of employee training would empower restaurant employees to see to the comfort of their non-disruptive guests. I spoke to these two families on the way out, and was received with the aggressive boorishness one would expect. Their excuse seemed to center around the argument that this was a 'family restaurant,' which to them meant that anything goes. I agree that the atmosphere in a family restaurant is less formal than a fine-dining setting, but it is still a restaurant, not a playground or a romper room. The people sharing the room are eating and conversing, not babysitting hellions while their doting parents look on. So, for all you young families who didn't have the benefit of parental training, I offer the following: 1. A restaurant is for eating, not for playing. 2. Children need to remain seated. Running around is dangerous for both children and staff., 3. All conversation, including children and cell phones, need to be kept at a level that does not disturb other guests. 4. When you are finished, leave. Holding a table, or several tables, especially in a restaurant that is at capacity, is just plain wrong. 5. Be mindful of your actions and that of your children, as they impact others around you. And for you restaurant owners, please realize that the risk of offending the rude is far outweighed by the risk of losing customers. You have a responsibility to provide a pleasant environment for your guests. I will not be returning to this restaurant, which saddens me, as the food was excellent. If I lived in the area, I would still consider take-out, but sadly I do not. read more
