Beautiful store with amazing inventory...however, we ordered a floor lamp to be delivered to the store in two weeks. Got a call it arrived at the store. Went in and they could not find our name, let alone our lamp. After 30 minutes, they found a piece of paper with our last name...nothing in the computer. Still couldn't find it so said it most likely will be on next Wednesday's truck. Went back in the next week-Wednesday and after 20 minutes of them not finding our name AGAIN and going in and out of the back storage room...we left with them still in the back. They NEVER called us after that to apologize or offer some type of remedy. We called them and requested this order be cancelled and our credit card credited. Again no apology, just "ok". Though they were very nice, not going back, there computer/ordering system is unorganized. read more

This place has a great selection! I was looking for a large chandelier and I was almost overwhelmed by the choices I found in this place. I found a big chandelier for my high-ceiling bedroom for less than $500, which is pretty amazing. The reason I gave four instead of five stars is this: I chose a chandelier that was, for some reason, missing the finial. The salesperson told me that I could take the chandelier home with me that day and that he would mail the finial to me when the replacement arrived at the store in about a week. About two weeks later, I had not heard anything, so I stopped by the store to ask about the finial. After a few minutes, somebody brought it out to me, which was fine. I was just a little disappointed that they didn't mail it to me like they said they would. Overall, a great place, I would definitely go back. read more

We're first time customers at Lamps Plus and while we were blown away by the selection, at affordable prices, what sold me was the customer service by Chris Cancel and Don Sherwood. We have been looking for 2 outdoor ceiling fans for a screened porch as well as 5 outside wall lamps to replace the ones that came with our 1950's house. Not having much luck with the big box stores, and finding that the specialty lighting places were out of our budget, we started looking online. We immediately found something we liked at this place we'd never heard of, Lamps Plus. We drove down right away on a Sunday afternoon, arriving an hour before closing, where we met with Chris. We asked a bunch of questions and then went off to look on our own. We asked some more questions and went on our way again. We repeated this a number of times and I can't tell you how nice it was to be able to shop without any high pressure from the salesman, yet also have a salesman just a step away who was super knowledgeable. Chris was really patient and helpful. We ended up finding everything we were looking for in one spot and decided to buy everything. But now it was 5 minutes before closing time. And some of the items had to be ordered. Chris never once made us feel like this was a problem. And standing at the ready to help us out to the car with all of our boxes was Don. He so patiently waited, after closing, while we rang up the items the store had in stock, ordered the items they didn't, and did a return for an extra light bulb we didn't need. We unintentionally parked as far from the front door as we could have but Don was so nice, assuring us that he enjoyed the walk. We walked in newbies but we'll be back for our next lighting project for sure! read more

I went to this location to get a wireless remote for my fan. I found this remote online for half of the price that they were offering there. I asked if they price matched, they said that they did, but when I showed them, they would not honor the price. I've seen this remote on multiple reputable websites for $15-20 less than it was priced at the store. I ended up buying online instead. I wish they were willing to honor what they told me. They have a good selection and this is why I gave them 2 stars. read more

I was recently in this location shopping for lighting for several rooms in our home. From the moment I walked in until I left, which my purchase was carried out by 2 employees....Heath and Vanessa, during my whole visit of about an hour and half, were tag teaming, answering all my question and also showing me how to put together so I would feel comfortable with my purchase when I got it home. In this day and age, natural good customer service is rare but everyone including other employees really went out their way to make sure myself and all others in the store were taken care of, very refreshing. Lamps Plus has a great selection at moderate prices in comparison to other lighting stores, and we've purchased many light fixtures and lamps from them over the past 10 years. However: 1) ALWAYS have the salesperson check the contents of the box you receive. For some reason, this store has bad inventory-box congruence. Save yourself a return trip. 2) Ask what the light bulb(s) in your new stylish lamp cost. We fell in love with a vanity light bar with six halogen bulbs that are burning out after one year. Price per bulb: $10+ Bradley C's comment about the disorganization at the counter being handled by a deli-style number system is a great idea. Maybe not so classy, but would be less stressful for the customers. read more

I was looking to re-do the lighting in our kitchen and living room. I went into Lamps Plus and I was surprised by the huge selection and amount of accessories that they had there as well. The staff was great and helped me find exactly what I needed. I even saw one of the same lamps at another store listed for $50 more! I'm glad I stopped in there instead of trying somewhere else first..it was well worth it and now my house looks great! read more

I ordered a ceiling fan over a week ago from the Fair Oaks store. It was supposed to arrive at the store and then be shipped to me to arrive on Thursday. Thursday came and went... no fan. Called Friday, they said they would next day it to me to arrive on Saturday. Saturday and Sunday came and went... no fan. Called at 10AM this morning, Jeremy told me he would talk with the shipping guy and call me right back... It's been an hour, still no word on my fan. I took last week off work to do the living room renovation, everything is done... except for the fan... wanted to have it installed before the carpet gets installed tomorrow. Doesn't look like that's going to happen. Additionally, actually getting help while in the store was next to impossible. Not enough staff and zero organization. While their selection is great, I'm not sure I'll be going to Lamps Plus when we do the remaining rooms in the house. Could have just ordered from the manufacturer and gotten the fan on time I think. read more

Today I had the pleasure of working with Lori W. from the Fair Oaks CA location, who gave me hands down the best customer service I have EVER received. Lori went above and beyond for me today, and I would honestly give her 100 stars if I could. Lori was efficient and kind, and she CARED about my urgent need to find several specific vanity lights for my home remodel project that had recently been back ordered online. Lori took the time to find my lighting from several Lamps Plus stores, and had them shipped out to me all the way to the east coast. I truly appreciated her determination in helping me locate the lighting I needed just in time for my project deadline. My wife and I went here on Sunday intending to purchase a new light fixture for our guest bathroom. We want a fixture that looks nice with energy efficient CFL lights. When I told this to the sales woman, I was demeaned for being cheap, lied to about both safety and legal requirements for CFL, threatened with having a has-mat teem sent to my house and $500 fine for using CFLs! I can accept a little "lighting snobbery" from a store that charges $199 for the same fixture home depot will sell for $59, but lies and threats are inappropriate. Simple tell me that none of you selection look good without spherical bulbs, and I'll go look somewhere else. read more

I found the service extremely attentive. These lamps and ceiling fan could/can be purchased online for probably a little less, but the service is worth that extra cost. For ex, the ceiling fan that I fell in love with (expensive) ... I was talked out of it by sales rep who helped me work through the ceiling height and room size. Great customer service!! Jonathan, the assistant manager has the best and most professional customer service skills! So polite and so easy to communicate with. He helped me through a return process which made life so much easier as there was a mix up with the email address etc that was originally entered when we made the purchase. During our visit to purchase a ceiling fan we had helpful salesperson but overheard dissatisfaction all around us including a salesperson and a worker in back in an argument. We then it installed by Lamps Plus for $110 and installers were independent contractors who upped the installation to $260. What is worse though is that the install was not done properly. Will never go back to Lamps Plus. read more

My husband and I are building a new house and needed to order a ton of lights and fans. We went to the store and looked around for a bit. The employees were all standing around chatting and no one gave us the time of day. Even after I asked for help the lady went in the back and never came out. So we left and I started looking online. A light we fell in love with happened to come from Lamps Plus so I filled out the online form to check availability. They say they'll call you within 10 minutes. No one ever called. I filled it out again and this time someone called and said I needed to provide the model, brand, model number of the lights even though I put all of that on the request form.. So I looked it up while she talked to another employee right into the phone which is rude. When I gave her the info she had me hold and then finally came back and said "I don't think we have it." So I asked are you sure? She didn't seam sure at all. Annoyed with their horrible in store and phone service I bought the light from some other website. Then lamps plus called me back saying they could order the light....when I told the guy I ended up purchasing it else where he just hung up on me!! So glad I didn't end up giving them my business after experiencing their horrible customer service! read more

I've bought chandeliers from this store twice. Both exp. with this shop were positive. I'm not sure if the staff is on commission or not, but they seem low pressure--which I LOVE! ( I get so annoyed with those stores you walk in to and feel like there's a target on you forehead as several sales people stalk you around the shop!) I would give 5 stars, but I do think their prices are on the high side. I do continue to shop here because of the selection of many diff. style, though. The quality of the pieces seems good, too. If you shop here carefully, you can find a deal as they do have clearance items that are marked down considerably! I'm happy with the chandelier I just bought for $80 with a 1 year warranty and 10% off on top of that just for becoming a "rewards" member...Oh, and I was told I could return it if I changed my mind, as long as it hadn't been installed--can't stand stores that say--it's clearance, no returns(!) I need more light fixtures and I know I will be back to this store in the future! read more

Disappointing service! Literally 4 people in the store with several sales people, not one person offered to help or greet me! When I asked a saleswomen a question she was very rude and didn't get out of her seat . She actually made it seem like I was putting her out! I'm so glad my friend recommended this place. I never knew it existed...a store where they sell nothing but lights and more lights! My husband and I drove from Elk Grove just to come here in the search for the perfect nightstand lamps (I've been everywhere and couldn't find one lamp I liked) and I have to say I am very happy to have found a pair I loved at Lamps Plus and it was on sale too! It looks beautiful and very high end but actually affordable with the discounts. Lamps Plus have a wide variety of styles to choose from! Customer service was great. The only thing I didn't like was that I will have to make a second trip to pick up my second lamp because they only had one on the floor for me to take home. We had to order the second one! Other than that, I shall come again in the future for all my lighting needs. read more

I like the store because of the quality, variety, good prices and there's always sales going on. However, we purchased a fancy ceiling fan, installed it and it didn't look right so I, (the wife), called about returning it and the man who answered said there was no return on the lamp. So my husband called the store soon after and told SOMEONE he was returning the lamp and they said fine. It's a little obvious that they try to manipulate and undermine women to make a sale. From now on I will always be thinking of that putdown when I go in the store. I hope this practice isn't prevalent with all the salespeople at the store. read more

I did the online 10 minute stock check and received a call about 30 minutes later and then another call from them about 3 hours later. The first guy I talked to knew a lot about the product, but had difficulty verifying if there was stock, he finally told me there were 3, so went to the store same day to review it but could not find it or a sales person willing to help. Finally I blocked one of them in aisle and they looked it up and said they had none and had just sold the floor model, well maybe. Nonetheless they ordered it for me, even through its a stock item it will take 4 weeks before they can ship it. Either they are incredibly busy or incredibly slow, I'm going with slow. read more

I love this place -- especially Ellen (the cashier)!!! I bought a mini chandelier from here years ago (which I have in my kitchen and get constant complements on), but when I called for help yesterday after all these years, Ellen still treated me like such a valued customer. She really goes the extra mile (or ten!) in making calls for you, giving you detailed information and help, etc. With so much incompetence in this world, Ellen is unbelievably knowledgeable about every aspect of Lamps Plus; I couldn't believe it. She gave me her undivided attention and time, and was so incredibly kind and warm. I'll be moving to the Bay Area, and she even gave me the info for the Lamps Plus locations that will be closest to me there. She is an absolute doll and the epitome of customer care! For about the last 20 years, I've shopped at Lamps Plus for lamps. Came here to the Fair Oaks store to buy lamps and replacement shades. They have a huge selection of lamps and shades to choose from. Upon walking through the door, we were promptly greeted by sales associate who helped us with our purchase and who ensured that the correct light bulb was purchased to highlight the colors in the tiffany lamp shade for the lamps we purchased. It's amazing what a difference that light bulb made and we would have never known that had the sales associate not given us a demo. It's wall to wall lamps here and you are bound to find what you need for your house. There's always great stuff on sale and I recommend you check out lamps plus before buying lamps in a furniture store. Also check for coupons online at their website. We easily saved $160 by coming here today to buy lamps. In the 20 years I've been a customer, I've never had bad service in any of the stores I've shopped in. read more

I went there looking for replacement lamp shades after looking in several other places without success. "Sasha" helped me, very efficiently and with very friendly attitude. The shade that looked like it would be right on their website was not quite right in color. She showed me an alternate, better color, but a little too short for the lamp. She suggested a change out to a slightly smaller "harp," a structure that holds the lamp shade up, and voila! It was just what I was looking for, and there was no charge for the harp part. Next time I need a new lamp or lamp shade, I will go there first! read more

Great selection, can be a bit pricey. First time I went they were highly understaffed and it took at least 20 minutes to check out. Went back to exchange one of the fixtures which was damaged and had to wait quite a while again. Once helped, very friendly. So...just go anticipating a long wait for assistance. read more

So I have a very unusual lightbulb and needed a replacement. Since I am over half hour away, I thought I should call to make sure they had these in stock. The woman told "Oh there would be no way to tell. You would to bring it in". So I drive half hour to Lamps Plus and and another half hour home. When I get to Lamps Plus, I had to wait about 15 minutes before anyone even acknowledged me. When they did check to see if they had the lightbulb, guess what. None is stock. A trip for nothing. When I asked when they would get some, I was told "I dont know, but I will call you when they get it in" Very poor customer service. I wouldnt recommend them read more

I went to the store today on the recommendation of a friend and was prepared to make several purchases - up to $1500 today. The customer service sucked. I walked around for about 30 minutes and not one person approached me. I made eye contact with an older man who looked at me, walked away and started working on one of the computer terminals. I'd seen this guy help 2 other couples while I was wandering the store and I know he was available. Made me so mad I walked out. Pottery Barn, Macy's or Restoration hardware it is. Another woman (also a woman of color) walked out w/o being approached as well. Maybe it was just a coincidence. read more

Horrible customer service. My husband and I are looking to update most of the lighting in our home (kitchen, bathrooms, foyer, etc.). When we entered the store last Thursday, there was a sales associate just standing in the aisle with her hands behind her back. When we passed by, she asked if we needed help. We told her what we were interested in and started with bathroom lighting. She showed us two panels of lights, then said she would be right back. Never saw her again. We had questions about the bathroom lights (what type of bulbs, wattage, light output, etc.), but we were on our own. We then looked at chandeliers, but again were on our own. We left the store totally disgusted at the lack of customer service. We were ready to purchase thousands of dollars in lighting, but because of the poor customer service, we will take our business elsewhere. read more

Terrible product...terrible customer service. Over the course of a few months I purchased a total of three ProTrac track lights with three heads each. For each purchase the sales rep suggested led bulbs which I purchased from Lamps Plus at around $10 each. I bought a total of 10 bulbs (one extra). Right after installing the first trac, some of the heads worked on and off...intermittently changing which ones worked and which ones didn't. I tried wiggling them around, changing locations, re-wiring, alternating the heads, taking a few heads off...over and over again as Lamps Plus suggested...and...still some heads go on, some go off, and its different ones all the time. Sometimes they only stay on for 5 minutes or so...really frustrating! So after months of trying stuff, their tech finally calls me after I requested a call from a tech guy...and guess what? these particular ProTrac lights are not made to support led bulbs...remember Lamps Plus sold me these led bulbs and told me they would work in the ProTrac. The tech guy said its not the first time he has seen this problem, and although theoretically the led bulbs should work, he has noticed that in practice they do not. He told me to go buy halogen bulbs. Lamps Plus was willing to refund me only for the last three bulbs I purchased, but not all of them, since it had been longer then their 60 day return policy on the other bulbs...remember I had been working with them for months.
