(It would be very helpful if Yelp offered as "NO STAR" rating). I would never post a Yelp review without first advising the proprietor - and so I did. I won't bore you with all of the issues I countered with the person representing Lamps Plus other than this store is and always has been very difficult to deal with. They are "rule" and "policy" driven which is their right. If retaining customers is important to you then this store is probably not the place for you to frequent. As mentioned, the employees are too rigid and by the book - guess you cannot blame them as they are apparently implementing their roles as directed by their management - I'm displeased with them, so as a consumer, I choose not to deal with them any longer. The sad thing is that I could go on for pages (which I won't do to YOU) however I''m sure nothing would change - so why bother. Some of the negative Yelp reviews are addressed by LP as essentially, "sorry to hear that . . . " I'll leave it there. Delivery notices and timing exceeded expectations however, we could hear broken glass despite the more than adequate packaging. We chose to return sample--which was perfect for our needs--to the store where the staff was so helpful all through this process! Jennifer quickly processed our return and expanded order. I had an all around experience with Lamps Plus. An old halogen lamp had gone out. I was sure it was the bulb and took it into the store. Everyone was quite helpful, bought the bulb and took it home -- right package, wrong size. Went back to the store, everyone again was quite helpful, agreed that it the wrong bulb (even fished my old one out of the trash). Went home and found out that I had a dead power supply in the lamp. Went back to the store, bought a new lamp, on sale with help of of a very pleasant sales associate. Mek, the manager helped my loaded into my car and said bring the bulb back and we will give you credit. This summer I had some home improvement projects. Maria who is my sales associate helped me a lot. She helped me finding the right ceiling fan for vaulted high ceiling. She helped me order multiple customized items directly from manufacturer. When wrong item was shipped, she made sure to ship the right ones. Yeah, because of the existing monorail system, I had to stick with visual comfort (previously Tech lighting) The store manager, Mek always checked on us because what we were dealing was bit technical. After I received the items, he offered me to adjust the length of the wire which layers are different from most of the manufacturers. He said selling products are not his goal but make the customer happy! He creates the great team at Stevens creek, and other staff were also willing to help a lot when we were trying to solve issues! Yes, I was there so many times to do returns, exchanging and re-order... but they were so patient and so helpful!!! read more

Hello Mek, I wanted to let you know what a wonderful lighting specialist Cynthia Levinson is. Our home of 40 yrs. burned down 2 1/2 yrs. ago in the CZU Lightening fire. Cynthia not only found us all of our lighting needs which needed to meet certain codes for a wildfire area, but took time to research and find alternative styles and designs to choose from. She was also there through the shipping process. She made sure everything arrived in a timely manner and in good condition. Lamps Plus is a great business to work with. When I walked into the store Maria came right up to me and ask if I needed any assistance. The customer service was exceptional and the purchase was fast and easy. Recently, I had a very bad experience with San Jose store. I placed the order for Paver lights which was estimated to be delivered around Mid-june. After multiple follow-up calls, I received a forwarded email from the vendor that i will receive on 06/22. Then i was told that it would be shipped on 06/24. I followed-up again on 06/24 to get confirmation of the shipment with tracking no. That never came thru. Finally, on 06/27, they dropped the bombshell with an email that the product can not be manufactured due to part problem and they had no idea when or if they will ever deliver. The sales person, store manager all of them gave false promises and wasted more than a month after taking the order. I would never ever go to this place. They are the most lousy people you can go to. Excellent selection and convenient location but service could use an improvement. We stopped in over the weekend and we were interested in seeing a lamp lit up.. to see how bright it actually was... the employee tried plugging it in and when it didn't work, she simply said "Oh I guess it doesn't work." and that was the extent of it. No offer to call their other location, no offer to get someone else to troubleshoot the problem.. etc.. Not helpful. We ended up going their other store and purchasing the lamp there. Service was helpful so I'm sure it's just a one off problem but just be aware you may be on your own a bit here. read more

Chris R is very knowledgeable and helpful with the different types of lights.  I was looking for a foyer chandelier and he gave me good recommendations for ones that could work with my foyer size.  I was also looking specifically for a LED chandelier that could do 4000K light color (these are harder to find) and he was immediately able to point me to brands that carried this color.  I exchanged several emails with him and he was very patient in answering my questions in the back-and-forth that we had.  If you go to Lamps Plus, ask to work with Chris - he provides excellent customer service! read more

Lamps Plus has been a class act ever since I came in contact with them. They helped answer all of my questions regarding different fixtures we were looking at for track lighting systems in our gallery. Any and all questions were answered exactly how we had hoped and it led us to the purchase of to George Kovacs systems. Okay I'm having a couple post-installation issues regarding Transformers not working and a couple of fixtures that I actually broke.. they were amazing on how they took care of us and how fast they did it!! No questions asked. Got the parts out to me as fast as possible, and they all worked. We stopped by here on a recommendation from a friend, as we'd like to redo some of the lights in our home. There's no doubt that they have a large selection of lighting options for all rooms of the house. There are a variety of styles, but for the most part they are classic designs. We were on the search for more contemporary looks, and while they have a handful of interesting designs I feel that this is not the place for the more nontraditional styles. Customer service was mixed. The first couple of people we encountered were pretty stand-offish, offering on curt responses lacking enthusiasm when we asked them to check on variations for the samples they had on display. Perhaps it was just a little too early in the morning for them. We eventually found someone that seemed more interested in helping us, and we were able to get our answers. I really can't comment on the prices of fixtures here since there's such a broad variety. However, the cost of those that we were interested seemed reasonable and were supposedly discounted as part of a year-end sale, but I suspect that similar prices probably prevail at other similar stores. read more

I was looking for a new mirror for my bathroom and was lucky when I walked into Lamps Plus on Stevens Creek and Cassandra approached me. She asked great questions and found some mirrors that she thought I might like. One was a square mirror that I really liked. I was not sure it would go with my new lights I had purchased. She asked if I had a photo of the lights, which I did. She then pointed out why the square mirror would work. she was very knowledgeable and answered all my questions. Now she has a new customer. Avoid Lamps plus if you're planning on spending a lot of money, instead of a one-off purchase. I did a test order at the Stevens creek store to decide whether we were going to spend a significant amount (indoor / outdoor lighting for an entire 6 bedroom home). I was told: We recognize that you're a member... But then, the invoice on the test order was NOT deducting the extra 10% on a clearance item. When I called the Lamps plus customer service, they said "our system is different from the Store system. Go back to the store" When I went back to the Store, they said "No, we're all under the same system" .. but when I asked them why the clearance discount was not taken off the invoice, they said, "you're not a member"... BUT, you CONFIRMED that I was a member (read above!) Would you spend 20 to 50K with this kind of company? read more
