A really great selection, but they lose a few stars because: *After spending an hour looking around and selecting a few lamps, they only had 1 left of each one we picked. :( We needed two for both of our bedside tables. *While the service is friendly, they NEED more people on that sales floor. They just seemed so overwhelmed! I would hate that they lose sales due to not enough attention brought to each of the customers. Overall, definitely worth a stop if you need a lamp of any kind. I went to lamps plus to get light bulbs for light fixtures and gave the sales person the exact specifications for the bulbs. She said it was requiring a small bulb but she said that was not necessary and gave me a larger bulb instead. Needless to say, specifications are there for a reason and I have $100 worth of bulbs that don't fit my fixtures. Unfortunately, I don't live near the store and traveled to go there so looks like I'm stuck with the purchase. Being a lighting store, I trusted their expertise and I shouldn't have. read more

Went in to buy an outdoor fountain - the staff were ALL awesome, pleasant, efficient, knowledgeable and super helpful. A piece was missing from the fountain we chose, but was on order. By chance, I decided to call the store and see if there were any additional discounts if purchased directly with store. The friendly gentleman that assisted beat the deal by offering me a 11% discount with free shipping! woo hoo! Pays to shop and around and "NEGOTIATE!" "You won't get it if you don't ...ask!" Everyone I've dealt with has been courteous and professional. Nice selections of contemporary and modern! Have utilized their online chat where the online service rep. was very knowledgeable. Also, in the past it was very easy returning products whether by mail or via the storefront, just ensure you follow their instructions and have the receipts. On 4/9 I purchased mirror at my local lamps plus store (Tukwila, WA). I paid cash, the item didn't work out, so today, 4/15 I came to the store to return the item. The sales associate who was processing the return tells me that you have a "no cash return" policy. They called the manager, who proceed to tell me the same, and then give me horrible attitude and roll her eyes when I told her that the sales associate (on 4/9) when the mirror was purchased, never told me that if cash was used, I could not get the same refund back . The manager still stood by her story, even though I had 2 other people with me when I purchased the mirror who both said when i was originally buying, we were NOT told of this "policy". The amount wasn't that big ($80+) but still, had I known I would've purchased by my card right away. The manager continued to give me attitude and raise her voice and say it's corporate policy. I got my refund on my debt card back, BUT I have spent the last 30 minutes on the website, and no where does it say that lamps plus does not offer cash back as a refund, nor does it say that anywhere on the two receipts that I have. I got ahold of corporate, who then said it is NOT their policy, and it depends on the store manager. The supervisor I spoke with, said as long as original receipt and item is in original packaging, original form of payment should've been refunded. This isn't the first purchase I've made here, over the course of 5 years I've probably spent close to 5k. Today's experience, and the managers lack of customer service skills was a huge turn off and I will never purchase another item here again. Please work on training your managers to speak to their customers respectfully, especially when they weren't being rude to them in the first place. read more

My husband and I went to Seattle Lighting before coming to Lamps Plus but was not impressed, no one would answer any of our questions and seemed to know nothing about lighting in general... So we decided to see what Lamps Plus had to offer and stopped by. We are remodeling a house and need lots of recessed lighting. The first clerk we spoke with was a older man (Mike) who was nice but once again couldn't really answer any of our technical questions and we really needed to be sure we were buying the right lights since they will be in every room in the house practically! Not to mention he was trying to help multiple people and kept leaving us which was really frustrating since we had questions about other lamps as well. After a while we looked for someone else to help and luckily we got Katy! We were very impressed with how much she knew, she asked us all the right questions and really saved us from making a big mistake and buying the wrong light that could burn our insulation! She demonstrated how each trim attachment worked and the effect each one gave so we were able to make a decision for our future purchases. We will defiantly be coming back very soon to buy all the lights for our house and will make sure to get them from Katy. She was pleasant and very friendly to work with and made shopping very easy! read more

Bad customer service. Talked to a representative over the phone about a product I wanted to purchase that was in stock. Was told they had one (I needed 2) and that if I came in to order the item in store that I could ship it to the store and not have to pay shipping. I drove an hour in traffic to get there and order before store closing only to be told at check out that they are unable to ship to store and that the shipping is $200. We are re-doing our living room and have been looking at our options for lighting. With a new sectional couch, we wanted to try an arc lamp, and then a second table lamp for the side that would match (reasonably). We figured Lamps Plus would be the best place to start--good selection, great 1-year guarantee for returns, etc. And so, we did. Thus began a saga of epic proportions. The first time we went down there we were looking around and found two lamps that we thought would fit our needs. Mostly it was a pleasant experience; the lady that was helping us (tall, blond) was really friendly and helpful, but there was one younger woman that kept hanging around asking us questions and just generally being intrusive. They didn't have the arc lamp in stock so we'd have to come back for it--okay. We spent some time looking at different bulb options because we wanted to make sure the lamps would work for energy efficient bulbs, and we got most of our questions answered. We also were told about a dimmer that can be added to the table lamp, which we had hoped was dimmable but the lamp itself wasn't. So, we took off with the table lamp and a promise of being contacted when the other one arrived. So far, so good. Until we got home. Where we discovered that the box had been opened before--it looked like someone else had returned it and it hadn't been re-packaged very clearly. Not only that, but it had a huge scratch on the front of the base. To make matters even worse, using the dimmer caused it to make a buzzing sound. So, the lamp went back in the box to be returned, and we decided to return the dimmer as well. But we weren't super discouraged, and even though it's a long drive (30 minutes each way from where we live) we had to go back for the other lamp anyway. Stop two was a nightmare. The lady we had worked with the first time was working with someone else and we got the gal who had been pestering us before. But they must work on commission or something because she was really rude to us. She was short with us, and snippy about what options she had for bulbs (because we didn't have the option of the dimmer for the side table anymore, we wanted to discuss other bulb options). But we managed to get out of there with a new table lamp, bulbs, and the arc lamp, and thought that would be the end of it. No such luck. First, the blond lady who we had really liked told us that it didn't come with the three bulbs it required--so we spent $60 on bulbs--when the lamp in fact DID come with the bulbs. But that wasn't the end of it. After my husband had spent at least an hour assembling the thing, it turned out the lamp was defective! So another hour of disassembling and putting it back in the box to take back down. And ANOTHER hour-long round trip drive to basically just return all of it. We were so frustrated with the whole experience we just took it all back and decided to go elsewhere. The saving graces were: 1) the first lady we worked with was decent; 2) the return policy was clear and honored, and 3) apparently the woman who took our return was awesome (my husband went alone that time). That's why they get two stars instead of one. Stay away from this place if you care about the quality of your lamps, but if you do go, be wary of the salespeople. Today, I went to this Lamps Plus location (on Southcenter Parkway, Tukwila) to see if they could help me with a broken lampshade. I had purchased a pair of Craftsman-like lamps at the store the year before and in fact, one of them was on display (and on sale for $159.99) that day. I was helped by Aspen Quiroz (Lighting Associate) who immediately offered to replace the lampshade. Since it would be an inconvenience for me to return, Aspen said she would check to see if the store had the lampshade in stock and luckily, they had one similar to my broken one. I was thrilled because everything was handled so quickly and with no hassle. Aspen exemplifies terrific customer service. Also, her professional manner was courteous, friendly and warm. I have been a longtime Lamps Plus customer, both at the Lynnwood and Tukwila store locations, but this is the best service I have ever received. As someone who purchases lighting fixtures (e.g., lamps, chandeliers, etc.) for her own home and rentals, this has convinced me not to look elsewhere. The Southcenter Lamp Plus is my go-to place for all things lighting because of employees like Aspen. read more

I'm being nice to give 1 star. The store DOES NOT even deserve it. Well, the store maybe, but definitely NOT the cranky sales lady who snapped at me because I wanted to buy something. It all started when I thought of some lamps for the living room. We were in SeaTac visiting my wonderful sister-in-law and her family when we thought of going for a visit to check their store. I've been checking the Lamps Plus website and honestly, I like their stuff but going in to see the wares up close beats having to stare at photos online. We were checking out the chandelier selections, very impressive. We had a great experience at another lighting store in Olympia a few months back so we were optimistic about this one, which had more selection. We walked until we got to the back section of the store where the "clearance" section is. That is where the aforementioned cranky sales lady came in. "That's as is, no return." she coldly said while I was eyeing a chandelier with no shade. I replied "Oh, thank you." We went to the other side to check the table lamps. I liked one but there's no price tag so I asked this lady who was practically stalking us around the store (major shopping pet peeve) if the one they had on display is in stock because I wanted a pair. I swear, she had this sour look and snapped "If you dont see any then we dont have it!" Lucky for her, I was in a good mood. I always go to Lamps Plus when I'm looking for new lighting because they have such a great selection. Last Saturday I was shopping for a new post light and pole for my driveway and Theresa and Milissa provided outstanding customer service. I have a pet barrier in the back of my car that complicated the process of loading the pole. I thought I'd have to make another trip but Theresa and Milissa thought we could make it work and Milissa spent 20 to 30 minutes in the parking lot helping me figure out how to adjust the barrier and remove one of the rear headrests. Tukwila Lamps Plus staff does not know its products. This is the last time I will try to buy something there. Customers should not know more about a product than the sales person. I needed a floating canopy, track connector and end cap for some Juno track lighting I already had. How easy is that? I showed the saleswoman a photo of the track end so she would get the right version. She did not hesitate, said "yes, we have that", and was back in a few minutes with two small boxes. It did not even cross my mind to open the boxes and inspect them. I went home, installed the electrical connections, then tried to attach the track parts. No-go. They were too thick. I called the store. Same sales lady had no idea what I was talking about, and said she could not find another version of these pieces in her stock list. I disassembled the electrical parts from the junction box and went back to the store (22 miles round-trip), but this time I took a length of my Juno track. The saleswoman remained mystified, even when I demonstrated the problem. The manager looked at my track and said it had been discontinued and was no longer made. I told her she was wrong, that Seattle Lighting sold it to me just over a year ago. She would not back down, no "let me look into it for you", no "maybe we don't carry that version," just stuck to her story that my track was too old. I was pretty upset. They gave me my refund. I went out to my car and called Seattle Lighting (a REAL lighting store with knowledgeable sales personnel). The sales rep said no, the thinner track had not been discontinued. He explained that there are two Juno track versions, the thicker T-track, used mostly in commercial installation (extra thickness allowed for suspension from ceiling) and the R-track which is thinner and used mostly in residential installation (because it IS thinner and hugs the ceiling better). He said they had my parts in stock all the time and would help me get the correct items. I went back into Lamps Plus and educated the saleswoman about the two Juno tracks, that they only carry the commercial version (for a store that does high-volume residential DIY sales??), and that their product lack of knowledge is a deal-breaker for this busy woman. All my lighting business will go to Seattle Lighting. If there is a small increased item cost it will more than pay for eliminating frustration, extra driving/gas, and lost project time. You get what you pay for, and customer service is something I happily will pay for. Update 4/21/17: refund amount from Lamps Plus $38, replacement cost for exact same pieces at Seattle Lighting $15!!! So not only did I save $23, I got better customer service by paying less money! When it comes to customer service I will give 10 star for Jordan Ablao...He is very helpful, friendly, and patient..Me, shopping around with four kids is CRAZY but he manage to help us very well and very patiently.. I never see him worries or get irritated with my kids running around the stores..He shows PROFESSIONALISM...He can also come to your house and give you some ideas.. Updated on 10/29/17: I'm updating my review since I've had a better customer experience over the last couple of weeks. I spoke with the store managers (Milissa and Jennifer) and they've been very responsive and helpful. Milissa has been constantly in touch with me, and informed me that the store would take responsibility and fix it for me. She coordinated with the service team and in fact asked them to take extra bulbs and other fixtures with them. This proved to be quite fortuitous as the service team later found out that the chandelier apparently didn't support LED bulbs. This was of course contrary to what I had been previously told at the store/by customer support person/the service team, but it fixed the problem. While the whole process took time, I appreciate Milissa's efforts in getting this resolved, and I would advise folks to bring it to her attention quickly if you're not having a good customer experience. _______________ Original review on 10/08/17: I recently purchased a couple of chandeliers from this store. I was pleasantly surprised with the choice on offer. I spoke with a store representative, and he shared his email id, and asked me to mail him any questions. I took him up on his offer, and sent a mail with some questions the same evening - no response for 2 days. After sending another mail, and receiving no response, I decided to purchase online. I also contacted the Lamps Plus service (electrical) online, and set up some time with them. When we received the chandeliers, we realized that one of the bulb holders was broken. I contacted the Lamps Plus online team and (to their credit) they offered to send a replacement immediately. On the day of installation, the service technician informed us that our dimmer wouldn't work, and that we'd need any LED-compatible dimmer (he mentioned that we could buy one from Home Depot for $30). This is when my experience started to turn sour. I bought the $30 dimmer as suggested by the technician (this was a question I posed to the salesperson in the store, and he gave me the same advice), but it still didn't work. I contacted the online support (chat) option on lampsPlus.com, and shared the model number of the chandelier, the bulbs I purchased as well as the dimmer. They informed me that it should work. The next day I received a call from someone from LampsPlus informing me that I'd need a $110 dimmer. I called the store, and the sales person told me that this is not correct, and that the $30 dimmer should work. I scheduled an appointment with the service team, based on this advice. The technician came and tells me (this time) that the $30 dimmer wouldn't work, and that I'd need a low voltage $70 dimmer. He does not give me a model number, and tells me that the store would call me about this information. I don't get a call from the store, and try contacting them several times. I then try contacting customer support, and they tell me the store rep would call me. The store rep calls me, and tells me he would need to talk to the technician that came to my house and would call me back. I don't receive a call, and after an unsuccessful attempt at trying to reach the store, I decide to call customer support again. They tell me that they will ask the store to call me. I still haven't received a call from the store sales rep, and it's been close to 2 weeks since we had the chandelier originally installed. I have no clue (and it seems like Lamps Plus has no clue either) about the dimmer that would work. I would've really appreciated someone taking responsibility for this, and ensuring that they provide me with a clear plan of action. Instead, I'm the one chasing down each person to understand what needs to be done. I would recommend the store, but the customer service leaves a lot to be desired. read more

The only shop I knew which carry exclusive lamps. So I got what I needed for but things were expensive. Nevertheless, the staff and the manager can chat with each other for hours - but if you are lucky someone will be able to help you. They will try to sell you the LED bulbs (I guess more commission) Lastly, the packing quality of each of these are abysmal low, I told this to the store manager (more of it like a feedback) - but he gave me the answer that this how things are packed - I realized not worth talking further. read more

Lousy customer service. The saleswomen were more interested in discussing their personal lives than helping customers. When we finally asked for help with the lamps we selected, one saleswoman came and helped. She was struggling to carry both of the matching lamps we selected and when asked twice if we could carry one, she said no. Just no. She was banging them into each other and we were afraid they would get damaged. She said she had to take them in the back and box them up. After at least 10 minutes and more personal conversations with the other two women in the back room, she came out with a plastic bag over the tops of the lamps and tied in a knot below the shade. We found what we were looking for and the selection and price was very good. Just don't expect customer service. read more

Bought a 3 way bulb that didn't work when I got it home and promptly called the store. Melissa answered and was right on it and took care of the problem. Worst service ever!!!! Waited for 30 minutes just to get someone to acknowledge us. We already knew which light we wanted but no one would help us. Apparently they were short staffed and to be fair that place was packed. When we asked a sales girl for more information about the item, like could we buy it online she said no, which we found out wasn't true. She then told us that the light we wanted to purchase was no longer stocked, so we asked if they offered an additional discount for floor model lights and she said no, which I found hard to believe because almost every store I've ever been to has offered some kind of discount for purchasing a floor model item. People were getting impatient for the long wait, none of the sales staff were handling any of the complaints professionally, we even witnessed some girl yelling at a customer to wait his turn. When he replied, "it is my turn." She continues to tell him "there were others in line before you and you'll just need to wait." I couldn't believe this circus. I'll never go back to that store and I will purchase from amazon in the future. read more

I have to post that I am very disappointed in the service or lack there of from this location. My fiance' and I have purchased many pieces for our home in the past. It seems that the same people are no longer there or perhaps were not there this particular day. I entered the store and never received a hello or may I help you from anyone. I was waiting for my fiance' to meet me there after getting off of work. I walked around for 40 minutes looking around waiting patiently for help. There were several other people in the store, a couple that purchased and was receiving help loading out the merchandise and another lady who walked in after me. She was not greeted either, however after 5 minutes she was assisted by someone. I felt like I was not being helped because of my race and the lady who came in after me who was Caucasian was helped. Three younger women were working that particular evening; one of which was unpacking merchandise and casually dressed so and did not seem to be a sales person. She did not speak either and actually walked right pass me without a word. It was now an hour waiting for my fiance' and I went out to meet him. I wanted him to go in first to see if he would be greeted and then I would come in after him. He went in and the same thing occured-no one said a word. Again three employees visible on the floor and one customer now aside from my fiance'. I then came in behind him and although we were truly looking for something particular I said very loudly as I walked by the two women chatting behind the counter that I was not interested in purchasing here since they were not interested in our business and we left. This was a total of 1.5 hours of no service. I will never go to Lamps Plus again after that horrible experience. I work in sales and customer service as well as management for quite some years and I really wanted to give them the benefit of the doubt. I stayed so long just to see if they would make the situation right after leaving and then coming back in. Clearly if these individuals were working without a manager present, they should not have a job because they lost two valuable customers because of their lack of interest in excellent customer service or any customer service and attention to who is coming in and out of their store; and if it was a race issue then perhaps they are in the wrong business because everyone should be treated the same and we have well over half a million dollar home with more pieces to add to it. I had dress clothes on as I went straight from work there (not that it should matter) they just were not interested. I would rather go 5-10 miles farther down the road then to ever stop in there again! read more

Lots to choose from for selection. They have sales here and there so you can essentially find a good deal if you wait for your item to go on sale. Not that many sales reps so it's hard if you have a question or if you wait in line for help, it could be awhile. But when you do get help, all is friendly. read more
