so sad inflation blew the prices up to $11-12 a bowl of hand pull noodles now. but despite the price, this spot has remained a solid staple in the food court. we each got a noodle soup one with beef tendon and the other with lamb. wish there was more meat and veggies in comparision to the hefty noodle portion. the broth is not overally salty or msg filled.
I ordered the first item on the menu which is the handpulled noodles with beef for $11. Cash only. The broth is very weak. Not much flavor at all. But the noodles are very bouncy and have good texture. Noodles were 10/10 but if only if the broth was stronger and need to be more flavorful. The beef and vegetables were good. Bok choy had a nice crunch to it. I think dun Huang is still the best lanzhou beef noodle soup in NY.
The broth was just okay but the noodles were quite good! I wish they added more meat. They're pretty quick on service.
One of the more popular stalls at the New World Mall Food Court. If I were to be fully honest, the beef soup was a bit bland. The unlimited chili oil and Chinese picked cabbage by the counter sure helps! Knife sliced noodles were great and had the perfect texture. Overall still a good beef noodle soup that tastes like something you'd get from China. Will definitely come back to try other dishes.

I thought their beef noodle soup was solid. Extremely generous with the noodles and protein. Would've liked more bok choy though! The broth tasted pretty standard... needed a decent amount of chili oil to enhance the flavors. I think I would've enjoyed this dish more if the noodles were thicker as well... but that's just a personal preference! Very affordable though!

I wish they gave a tad more veggies to balance the meat veggie ratio. I feel like there's better elsewhere!

I got the beef tendon noodle with egg. The time between when I ordered and when I received my food was merely 3 minutes - the time it takes for the fresh noodles to cook in the soup. Food is good, but not particularly special. The portion sizes are big, and the draw is that the cost is low (less than $15) for pretty much all items on the menu.
The service is kind of lacking. We ordered two noodles and one of the noodle arrived more than 15 mins after the other. The food is amazing and the cold chicken noodle is a dish I didn't expect to be this good. It's nice that you can chose the thickness of your noodle. Tried one of their bun with meat before and that one was kind of lacking. It's just like any casual chinese restaurant with no extra bell and whistle. So a good place to chat and eat with your friends.

Lan Zhou Handmade Noodles is a popular food stall located in New World Food Court. After seeing the reviews on social media, I just had to try it! You can't miss them, as they are among the many tempting food stalls located on the lower level. Their line is a bit longer than others but well worth the wait. I was mesmerized by the sight of hand pulled noodles, made to order right before my very eyes. I was excited to taste, and the decision to get either noodles in soup or stir fried was a tough one. I ordered the house special stir fried noodles after some hesitation as I really am a fan of it served both ways. The noodles were bouncy in texture and were really good. Unfortunately I do not have a comparison as this is my first time eating Chinese hand pulled noodles. For me the flavors were well balanced and what can I say about portion size? It's plenty to share and that's a real plus. I was not disappointed and I hope to try their other noodle dishes on my next visit! Side note, this is a cash only stall. Bring a fair amount, as a lot of vendors do not take the card here. read more

The stir-fried noodles (炒拉麵) are to die for. The first time I got the stir-fried noodles with sausage, people were walking by our table gawking and asking where we got it from. There also might have been singing from the heavens (maybe it was the karaoke upstairs). Blessed with wok hei and potentially a tea egg, the noodles are loaded with tomatoes, peppers, onions, bean sprouts, and black fungus. Then, there are delicious condiments like preserved vegetables and hot pepper sauce at the counter that you often seen teenagers huddle around. Some people find the noodle soup to be average, and I would agree. But the real secret of this place is that the stir-fried noodles are out of this world. Every time I go to Flushing, I make sure to find an excuse to come back to this place. read more

A great bowl of noodles for a fair price. What more could you ask for? I always go to New World Mall to get my noodle fix. Lan Zhou handmade noodles are delicious to eat and really fun to watch them make. They are booth #15 near Gong Cha and Tea Baar. The lady who takes orders in the front is super loud and can handle so many orders so quickly! The food is prepared fresh. Within 5 minutes, you have a hot bowl of hand pulled noodles in front of you. I always either get the wonton noodles ($6.50) or the beef noodles (~$8.50). I prefer the beef because wonton noodles are better with the yellow noodles. I also saw someone who ordered their yellow fried noodles with thick sauce and beef. It looked SO good. There is a huge bucket of chilli oil for you to take as much as you need as well as pickled vegetables. Need to try all of their menu items here! read more

This beef noodle soup was fire. The broth was super flavorful and had strong hints of cilantro. The noodles were chewy and soft. The beef was UBER tender and melted in your mouth. And it was so cheap for the amount you get! I could not recommend this spot enough. However I'm busier days it is hard to get seating. You can add in your own pickled vegetables, chili oil, and soy sauce if needed. read more

$7 for a bowl of BNS with perfect hand-pulled noodles and delish beef?!? Count me in! The beef was melt in your mouth soft but also had the right amount of Chew and flavor. The noodles were fresh and stretchy and did not break once under my chopsticks; it was cooked to al dente. The price and quality are unbeatable. The only thing you're giving up is the restaurant ambience which I def do not mind! Also being green.. bc they use plastic single use bowls and utensils read more

Little soup shop in the New World Mall. The hand pulled noodles were really nice and chewy and bouncy. They give you alot of noodles. The soup was on the salty side for me. The lamb meat was super tender. My lunch mate's noodles were a little clumped together even after stirring several times in the hot soup. He also didn't enjoy the abundance of cilantro. read more
Thanks Jando for helping me find this posting on Yelp! Well here it is! The best beef noodle soup at the New World Mall Food court. Important to note. This is NOT Li's Lan Zhou Hand Stretched noodles. They are actually located right next to one another. I believe this site was a more recent arrival and I'm clearly a bigger fan of this one. The noodles are about equal for the two restaurants. Very chewy, home-made and just the right amount of bite. Lanzhou Hand made noodle had better beef and broth though. The beef was more savory and obviously tender. The tendon was cooked to perfection. The broth was also richer, more flavorful and a darker color. Definitely my style. Would recommend the knife cut noodle slices. The picked mustard greens are too tart and pungent for my liking. This food court is insane. I see teenagers walking around with massive bowls of food. Impressive. Hope to return soon. read more
This location is located in the cleaner and nicer New World Mall, the original location is in the Golden Mall. So this is located on the bottom floor in the food court of the New World and there are a TON of food options. I think Lanzhou makes a very respectable bowl of noodle soup. It's not fancy, it's served in a plastic to go bowl but it's quick, cheap and pretty filling. Just remember it's a food court stall and it's quick and cheap and your experience will be a good one. The food: Lanzhou beef hand stretched noodles- I think the hand stretched noodles are great. The chew is nice and the smooth texture is great. The beef is really tender, but it doesn't have the boldest beef flavor but texturally it's nice. It's the end of March, and NY feels like winter just started. It's ridiculously cold and all I can think of is hot noodle soup. My family wanders into the New World Mall Food Court and there are so many Asian style restaurants t choose from, but I zone into "Handmade" noodles because I figured they'd have some excellent beef noodle soup to warm my bones! BEEF TENDON NOODLE SOUP: So instead of beef, I ordered the tendon noodle soup. The tendons, which were quite abundant, were of great texture and tasted great. And there were a lot of noodles as well. Normally, I hate when restaurants put so much noodle in the dish just to cover the lack of meat, but for one, there was plenty of tendon, and two, this was great because the noodles here are hand pulled! You can see them making it from start to finish. What's most impressive is the quality of this soup when it's in a food court! It's a shame I'm only visiting a few days, I'd like to have explored this menu a bit more! read more
If you're looking for authentic taste, go here! In the basement of the New World Mall is the food court (and KTV in the corner, I think). Most of the restaurants only take cash, but if you're not prepared (like me) there is an ATM. The menu is plain, no pictures, but the amount of people lined up at dinner time speaks for itself. I ordered the lamb noodles, which comes packed with veggies too. The amount of food was enough for two meals and the price was excellent. I paid more for "fresh noodles" in Chelsea and this place wins for flavor hands down. read more

Don't let the shouting cashier scare you away! The noodles here are delicious! Whenever I go to the food court at the New World Mall with cravings for lamian, this is my go-to spot. Freshly-made and chewy noodles are made to your liking: stir-fried, in soup, or with a nice thick meat sauce on top. All for around $6-$8 per plate or bowl!! You can't go wrong. My favorite is the beef tendon noodle soup, followed closely by the zhajiangmian. I've also tried some of their other offerings, like stir-fried lamian and lamb burger; they weren't bad, but I didn't love either. Note that if you come during prime eating time, you should be prepared to spend some time finding seating. It can get pretty hectic. read more
This place is definitely overhyped. The noodles were decent for their price but nothing to write home about. $7 for a bowl of handstretched noodles with 5-6 pieces of beef and a fried egg on top. Ordering was a bit confusing since my Mandarin skills are non-existent. After standing there and pondering what I should order, I figured that we ordered then paid or paid then ordered. But the cashier was yelling out orders in Chinese and I was lost. But I somehow managed to leave with a bowl of beef noodle soup. Go figure? I was researching places to get noodle soups in Flushing's Chinatown and Lan Zhou Handmade Noodles was one of the places I read about. We were in the New World Mall food court and when I saw Lan Zhou Handmade Noodles that's were I decided to eat. Next time I'll need to get there earlier as it appears that they do run out of things. I wanted pork but had to settle for beef. The beef noodle soup was outstanding. There was ample veggies and beef and the noodles were perfectly cooked al dente. The broth was good but I decided to add some chili sauce to spice it up a bit. Yes the reviews I read about Lan Zhou Handmade Noodles were not exaggerating, every bit as good as the reviews said. I need to go back and try some of their other soups. I also saw some other places that I want to try in that food court. read more

Located in the basement belly of New World Mall, where the cavernous and cacophonous food court lies, Li's Lanzhou Hand Stretched Noodles is a stall that provides a dinner and a show. Before ordering, I spent a few amused minutes watching the noodle master stationed at the front wrestling with an enormous ball of dough, stretching, slamming, and whipping it into submission until it was shredded into noodles and boiled for a new order of noodles. I was impressed enough to get in line to place my order of vegetable noodles in soup, with amounted to a paltry $5 and was ready within minutes. Three condiments are available at the pickup counter - a jar of pickled vegetables, a bowl of spicy chili oil, and a bottle of vinegar. As the picture of my bowl might suggest, I helped myself to some generous spoonfuls of the spicy oil. At first glance, the vegetable noodle is a disappointment. Neither the toppings (wood ear mushrooms, a handful of baby bok choy, slices of tomato, and a hardboiled egg) nor the serving size seem particularly notable. For me, the light and uninteresting broth was helped enormously by the addition of spice and it wasn't until I reached the noodles at the bottom of the bowl that my taste buds woke up. Hand pulled noodles were a first for me and I found the texture toothsome - pliable and all of the stretching worked the gluten in the dough to make the ramen uniquely chewy. There was a good amount of it hiding below the broth, so that by the time I reached my last bite, I was pretty full. Service here is quick, if a little unfriendly. The cashier in the front who takes orders calls out to those passing by in Chinese, presumably to lure them to the stall. But once you get there, she is unsmiling and the interaction is about as warm as a glacier. Still, efficiency is to be appreciated - money gets handed over, she screams your order to the cooks in the back, and high turnover of noodle production ensures that your food will come out quickly. Though the noodles themselves were delicious, I found the broth and the accompanied toppings just okay. For the price, it was a decent meal and I'd love to come back and (based on other Yelp reviews) try some of their fried noodles and dumplings. read more
For seven bucks, great value. A high-quality, authentic super classic bowl of noodles. Had it on a cold, rainy day and it felt so good. I got the beef noodle soup. The beef was oh-so tender. SUPER tender. I'm talking about butter melting in your mouth. But not too fatty. The beef portion was good too, especially given the reasonable prices. The noodles were handmade. I had a lot of fun watching them stretch the noodles as they made my dish. Not the best handmade noodles in NYC, or even New World Mall, but overall solid. You can also choose to add chili oil and pickled vegetables, and I recommend this as it makes the soup more flavorful. The one downside to this dish is that there aren't a lot of vegetables in it. I wouldn't go to this place if you are health conscious, but for a solid classic Chinese dish at a great price, this place is a solid option. read more
