I've been seeing Lana now for around six months and my skin has never looked better, between the hydra facials, the products and the light treatments I'm very pleased with the changes (smaller pores, clearer skin, less acne, wrinkles looking not so bad as well.) I have been going to Lana's Beauty Zone for three years now. She came highly recommended by members of the Palo Alto Mother's Club. I was not disappointed. (FYI: Before starting her own spa/salon, she worked at La Belle at the Stanford Shopping Mall for years.) I first had the hydra facial with Lana and it was great. Lana takes her time to first evaluate your skin and then the hydra facial really cleans your pores better than anything I've had without painful extractions, and leaves your skin glowing, soft and hydrated. Lana also spends time giving a mask and allowing you to relax and not feel rushed in the experience. In my next visit, I had a peel. I appreciated that Lana didn't risk anything with my skin, as I was a bit nervous being it my first peel. It wasn't painful at all and the results were great. I found Lana after I purchased a Juice in the City coupon for a HydraFacial. I didn't know what to expect but it sounded wonderful enough to try. The treatment room is very relaxing and I love the warm bed and fresh linens. After the treatment,I noticed a difference in my skin immediately. It was softer and brighter and the fine lines were less apparent. I decided to buy a series of 6 and also took her recommendations for daily skin care. I have noticeable improvements and get compliments on the texture of my skin all the time. Lana is great at analyzing what I need for my skin and although I purchased the series of HydraFacial's she will tell me if I need something else instead that day. I appreciate that honesty. She wasn't super pushy about products, which I appreciated because after reading some reviews I assumed she would be. Now that I've moved away, I feel a lot more comfortable writing this. Overall, I think Lana is a good facialist (I only did Hydrafacials), but she is so focused on selling products/making money that a lot of the relaxation of the facial is wasted. A couple of issues: (i) no asking personal quesitons/talking during facials--I am such a fanatic about this that I always, politely, tell providers (facial, massage, nails, etc.) that I don't want to talk during sessions. I come there to relax and shut down my brain. This did not work with Lana...even though I repeated it. Apparently, I was supposed to tell her all about my life (married?), where I lived (how much do you pay for rent?), the make of my car (agh!), and my "family situation"... the only reason I indulged these questions is because I bought a series and I didn't want to piss her off. But it was really uncomfortable. (ii) the hard sell--when she wasn't asking personal questions, she was trying to sell me something during the session--during my last appointment there I mentioned I was moving to LA due to a serious family situation. As I'm telling her something fairly serious, her response is that if I buy facial products, she can ship them to LA. My response was so befuddled that I think even she realized it was inappropriate, but too little too late. Finally, she gives you deals if you leave positive Yelp reviews which sounds a bit sketchy to me. In any case, if you can get a good deal (Groupon), I would suggest you go get one good facial and not get talked into buying a series...what you save in money, you end up paying in aggravation. read more

Lana wants only money she doesn't care about her clients. I paid for a 90 minutes facial but she left me in the treatment room after 40 minutes of treatment and came back in 15 to clean the the mask. It was a 60 minutes facial. She was so aggressive to sell her products and asking me pay cash to avoid paying tax. I will not ever go to this place again. read more

The pampering starts out, out of the world then diminishes as time passes, and more as she senses you may not buy her products or a package. About the Facial. I went for HydraFacial with a groupon certificate of 89$ without tips. I was given a warm neck warmer while I waited..Wow felt good.. The place is welcoming, pleasant and clean. towels are nice and warm. she tells you everything about what she is going to put on you and how it is going to feel..thats good.. Actual massage on the face very little (i could barely feel it) the machine has 3 bottles..she spent about 10 -15 mins average on the first 2 bottles but the 3rd one (hydra Serum) she did less than 30 seconds..Yes 30 seconds only..Did not even cover the my face. I think that is the most expensive thing in the whole set. So she skimped on it. So basically I went for Hydra facial got a regular facial and paid premium price in name of Hydra Facial... Spent more time telling me my prescription acne meds wont work but hers will..Didnt bother to tell me to put on Sunscreen before I step out.. Not going there again read more

Her place is very clean and the bed is so comfortable (countoured to your back and heated!) I get so relaxed, I even doze off. My first visit to Lana was October of 2012 - a week before my wedding. I found Lana through a Daily Deal offered through the San Jose Mercury and scheduled an appointment for a Brazilian Wax. I was pleased to note that Lana's Beauty Zone is only a 15-minute drive, making her location super convenient. I've never had a Brazilian Wax and was really anxious to experience what has been described as "cruel and unusual punishment". Upon presenting my coupon, Lana mentioned that there had been some disagreement between her and the vendor but would honor the deal anyway. We proceeded with the Brazilian Wax. Unfortunately, it did feel like cruel and unusual punishment! Lana was patient with me and we got through the ordeal. Nealy two years later, I'm a regular customer of Lana's Beauty Zone. Lana did not push any other service unto me, in fact, it was nearly a year later that she suggested I try a facial. And I did. It was awesome! I always leave Lana's looking brighter and more clear. I have purchase her toner (and I love it) and facial mask treatment. Lana has offered other products but has always been respectful when/if I refuse. Lana and I have developed a great relationship and we share stories of our families, she is very personable and very kind.
